'The Job Is Only Half Done': Iyer Focused On IPL 2025 Final After Commanding Win In Qualifier 2

Shreyas Iyer led PBKS to the IPL final with an unbeaten 87*, defeating Mumbai Indians by five wickets in Qualifier 2.
O Captain, My Captain, shall be the words that every PBKS supporter would be uttering now.
When in need, it was skipper Shreyas Iyer who stepped up and punched PBKS' ticket to the IPL final with a scintillating 87* to sink the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 on Sunday.
Even when Punjab Kings continued to lose wickets in timely intervals, a calm and composed Iyer stayed put at the crease to lead the way to the promised land.
Iyer also believes that it's the pressure that makes him thrive. The bigger the occasion, the better.
'I don't know, to be honest, I love such big occasions. I always say to myself and to my colleagues in the team that the bigger the occasion, the calmer you are, you get the bigger results," Iyer stated after winning POTY.
'Today was a right example where I was focusing more on my breathing rather than sweating out there."

PBKS were the laughing stock last time they played RCB, being embarrassed by the Bengaluru side in Qualifier 1.
But, for Shreyas, the past doesn't and shouldn't bother him and his teammates when they take them on in the IPL 2025 Final on Tuesday.
'Just throw the imagination and also the hiccup in the bin. We do not think too much about where we went wrong because throughout the season, we've been playing amazing," Shreyas lauded his team.
'One match can't define us as a team."
But, he also knows better than to let recent success get to his head.
'I'm just staying in the moment right now. I want to cherish this," Iyer said.
'The job is only half done."
Shreyas, though, shall walk into the final with all the confidence, having entered his name in the history books by becoming the first captain in the world to lead three different teams to the IPL final.

The incident occurred when thousands of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite players ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL victory celebrations. Eleven people were killed and dozens injured in a stampede outside Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy stadium as a huge crowd of nearly 3 lakh people had gathered to witness the victory celebration of RCB for winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday. The Karnataka Police have also filed an FIR against the Karnataka Cricket Board Administrative Committee, RCB, among others, in connection with the stampede incident.
