No Ethics Here: Hacker Drives Trading Scam
New Delhi: For an '
ethical hacker
' who completed a course from an Indian Institute of Technology, Girish Pandey could have had a brighter future. Instead, he allegedly teamed up with his friend Avinash, a physics graduate, and started working for a Cambodia-based international
cybercrime
network having Chinese handlers.
In the past few months, their accounts were credited with more than Rs 5 crore -- mostly the proceeds of crime, according to police. Their run was short-lived, however, as cops tracked them down and busted their module. The duo was arrested along with three others, including the alleged conduit between cybercriminals and the Cambodia-based kingpins.
Confirming the arrests, special commissioner Ravindra Yadav said efforts were underway to identify and nab more members of the network.
The accused were allegedly involved in a
fake stock trading scheme
, duping victims through WhatsApp and other chat platforms. The group came under the scanner after a resident of Karawal Nagar complained that he was duped of Rs 32 lakh through an investment fraud scheme, following which the Cyber Crime Unit of Northeast Delhi district started analysing his bank transactions.
The accused were subsequently arrested during raids in Delhi, Aligarh, Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand), Basti and Kanpur.

They were identified as Pandey (31), Suraj Chaudhary (26), Vicky Bora (27), Avinash Kumar (34) and Makkhan (32). Police seized two mobile phones, bank records and digital evidence, uncovering a money trail of over Rs 5 crore.
Revealing their modus operandi, the accused told police they would add potential targets to fake advisory groups and collect money through fake companies, cooperative banks, offline RTGS and cryptocurrency (USDT).
The victims would be lured into investing in Indian as well as US stocks and IPOs through a fake platform, and promised huge profits.
Initially, the victims were shown profits, but later, when they demanded their money back, their accounts would be frozen, citing 'penalties', and they would be forced to invest more. The investigation revealed international connections, with Chinese operators and Cambodian associates involved in the transactions, said police.
"Chaudhary provided an IDFC bank account to Bora for a 10% commission, while Bora was the mastermind linked to Chinese operator 'Nio' and coordinating with a Cambodian network. Pandey was involved in money laundering through a fake company, Travelese Bird Technology Pvt Ltd. Kumar was a partner in transactions worth Rs 9 lakh while Makkhan was an intermediary between shell account holders in India and Cambodia," a senior police officer said.

'Baby, We're Ordering That Pill': 15-Year-Old Girl's Secret Chats Shock Brother, Reddit Reacts
Last Updated: A teen's private WhatsApp chat left open on a laptop led her brother to discover a troubling relationship, prompting concerns about family responsibility and youth vulnerability The responsibility of raising and guiding children does not rest solely on parents but extends to every member of the family. A supportive and open home environment is vital to help young people navigate the complexities of adolescence. However, not all feel safe enough to share their struggles. In today's digital age, many youths are increasingly influenced by external forces – peers, online communities, or manipulative individuals – who may lead them astray. As a result, instead of turning to their families, some choose secrecy, hiding important aspects of their lives out of fear, confusion, or misplaced trust. In a recent case, a young man uncovered disturbing information about his sister after she inadvertently left her WhatsApp account logged in on his laptop. Shocked by what he read, he turned to social media to share his experience. Disturbing Details Shared Online A Reddit user, posting under the handle @babidi_bada_boom-500 in the group r/indiasocial, detailed a harrowing experience involving his 15-year-old sister. Accompanying the post was an image of the WhatsApp interface, revealing the source of his distress. The user explained that his sister had accessed WhatsApp on his laptop and failed to log out. Upon opening it, he found private messages, presumably from her boyfriend, that left him stunned. 'I feel my family has failed, I have failed as a brother, and my parents have failed in raising my sister. I cannot describe the pain I feel after seeing this," he wrote. The user stated that he recognised the name of the boy his sister had been speaking to, someone he had previously warned to stay away due to inappropriate behaviour. He was particularly distressed to find the boy persuading his sister to convert to Christianity and noted that his sister appeared complicit in the exchange. The WhatsApp conversation also alluded to the boy procuring medication, implying the couple may have engaged in unprotected sexual activity. While uncertain about the exact nature of the medicine, the brother was deeply troubled and turned to the online community for guidance on how to proceed. First Published: June 06, 2025, 14:27 IST

Drop gates to be set up at 20 spots to prevent entry, exit of criminals: IG
1 2 3 South Chotanagpur zone inspector general Manoj Koushik has joined the office recently following a major reshuffle in the police administration. Among the major issues in districts under his jurisdiction are cybercrime, extremism, drug peddling and organized crime. He talks to TOI's Sanjay Sahay about the plans and measures for overall crime control. Excerpts... What measures are underway to eliminate extremism from South Chotanagpur which includes a Maoist hotbed in West Singhbhum district? Chaibasa (West Singhbhum), where top Maoist leaders are hiding, is the only core area of the rebels in the state. State police and CRPF are conducting joint operations to sanitize the area. In some districts like Ranchi, Khunti, Loharadga and Gumla, the splinter groups of Maoists have a presence but their activities have dwindled considerably. The active groups are mainly criminals using the name of the rebels to extort money. Most of these anti-social elements are identified and actions are being taken against them. I also request people to inform the police if there are extortion calls from organised crime groups. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Azioni Italia fino a 2€ BG SAXO Scopri di più Undo Cybercrime is on the rise. What steps police have taken to curb it? Awareness is necessary to save citizens from falling victim to cybercriminals. The elderly, who are soft targets of such criminals, should be also focused. I have instructed Ranchi police to improve their achievement against cybercriminals with the help of the Pratibimb app. Directions have been issued for registration of cases as soon as they are reported and for immediate action. We will also try to take financial institutions on board for the speedy recovery of money cheated from the victims. What steps will be taken to address the public grievances? In my meeting with Ranchi police recently, I instructed them to ensure speedy disposal of public complaints lodged with the centralized public grievance redressal and monitoring system. This system will be on vigil in other districts, too. We are planning to give a copy of the inquiry report to the complainants if it does not involve confidential information. The citizens will have the option of disputing the report at higher levels. What are your instructions to prevent crime in the state capital? I have asked the police personnel to identify entry and exit points of Ranchi city and build infrastructure so that it could be sealed immediately when a crime is committed. So far, around 20 spots have been selected in this regard. We will set up drop gates at these places. The step will also enable regular checking, which will prevent inter-district and inter-state movement of smugglers and other criminal groups. Warring calls for police reforms, says Cong won't forgive or forget
Ludhiana: Punjab Congress president and MP from Ludhiana, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring slammed AAP for the Vigilance summons issued to Bharat Bhushan Ashu and described the governance of AAP as a "circus instead of a sarkaar. " Warring, who reached Ludhiana to address mediapersons on the issue, said that the Congress would neither forget nor forgive "any sins of omission and commission being committed by this government." Warring said that the summons issued to Ashu amid the election campaign showed that AAP had admitted its defeat and was now acting in sheer frustration. "The cat is out of the bag as both Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann are feeling desperate and frustrated about the imminent loss in the elections," he observed. Warring asked why the VB needed to issue the summons in the midst of the campaign and why they could not wait till the elections. He claimed that earlier, cases were registered against party workers and councillors to threaten and intimidate them so that they would not campaign for Ashu. However, he said that Congressmen would not be intimidated. Warring also warned officers against "dancing like puppets to the tunes of AAP," saying that they would be held accountable in about one year. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "We will neither forget, nor shall we forgive or spare you," warned Warring. Saying that Punjab had become a "police state," Warring emphasised the need for comprehensive police reforms to fix accountability. He said that a commission would be set up as soon as the Congress formed government in 2027 to verify the cases, and the fake FIRs would be cancelled immediately. He also said that officers found to have registered fake FIRs would be dismissed instantly. Warring declared that about 50 DSPs, 35 SPs, and a few more officers in Punjab "deserve to be dismissed immediately." He suggested that the commission would identify all such officers. Earlier at 1.30pm, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, along with Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh, former minister Pargat Singh and former MLA Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, addressed a PC over the issue at the party's election office. By 2.15pm, Warring, along with former MLAs Surinder Dawar, Rakesh Pandey, Sanjay Talwar, Kuldeep Vaid, Simarjit Singh Bains, Balwinder Bains, Jassi Khangura, and Capt Sandeep Sandhu, besides others, addressed another PC at a hotel near Bhai Bala Chowk, a few metres away from Congress's election office. When questioned about having two PCs over the same issue, Warring said that he was unaware if Ashu was also conducting a press conference. However, he said that the party was united when it came to fighting with the opposition.
