Lana Del Rey's Early Career Smash Is A Timely Hit Yet Again

Lana Del Rey's 'Summertime Sadness' returns to the U.K.'s Official Streaming chart as warmer weather ... More boosts plays, helping Born to Die climb three tallies. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 07: Lana Del Rey attends W Magazine and Louis Vuitton's Academy Awards Dinner at a Private Residence on March 07, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo byfor W Magazine) Lana Del Rey has been promoting her upcoming album for almost a year now, and she's already delivered a handful of singles from the project. Fans still don't know what it will be called or when it will arrive, as she has changed its release date and title multiple times. While anticipation builds for the alternative superstar's next studio effort, her followers continue to revisit the project that started it all, and what may be considered her breakout hit single. This week in the United Kingdom, Del Rey claims one charting single, as 'Summertime Sadness' returns to the Official Streaming chart, and it's not hard to guess why. The tune naturally sees a spike in activity as spring transitions into summer, and it's one of a handful of cuts by Del Rey that have reached well beyond her core fanbase. Streams of the popular composition — which was made famous in part by a Cedric Gervais remix — increase when the weather turns warm. In the past, 'Summertime Sadness' has only peaked at No. 77 on the Official Streaming chart, which ranks the most successful tunes on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others across the U.K. It has spent 30 weeks on the tally throughout its lifetime. 'Summertime Sadness' is featured on Del Rey's breakout album Born to Die. That set can almost always be found on the charts in the U.K., so it's not shocking to see it appear on multiple lists. This week, the project climbs — perhaps thanks to an increase in plays of the single. Born to Die improves on all three rankings on which it appears, albeit slightly. It gains the most ground on the Official Albums Sales chart, jumping from No. 65 to No. 50. It almost mirrors that movement on the Official Physical Albums list, pushing ahead 14 spaces to also settle at No. 50. The title, which helped introduce Del Rey and her signature alternative pop style back in 2012, only manages to advance a pair of spots on the Official Albums chart, where it comes in at No. 56.

Hozier's Debut Album Hits A New High Point A Decade After Its Release

Hozier's self-titled debut Hozier returns to multiple charts in the U.K., even reaching a new high ... More point on one and debuting on another following its vinyl reissue. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 30: Hozier performs onstage during An Evening with Hozier at GRAMMY Museum L.A. Live on October 30, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by) In 2014, Hozier appeared seemingly out of nowhere and quickly became one of the most exciting new names that the rock genre had seen in years. The Irish singer-songwriter catapulted to the top of charts globally with his single "Take Me to Church," a social commentary on homophobia, particularly in religious communities. That track, featured on his self-titled full-length, turned him into a superstar — and he remains one to this day. The introductory set returns to multiple charts in the United Kingdom and even manages to reach a new high point on one while debuting on another, a decade after it was initially shared with the public. Hozier appears on five albums rankings in the U.K. this frame. It soars on two of them, returns to another two, and debuts on a fifth. The self-titled affair reenters the Official Albums Sales chart at No. 7, coming close to its No. 4 peak position. At the same time, it blasts back onto the Official Physical Albums roster at No. 6. That now stands as Hozier's all-time best placement on this roster. The early career win starts its time on the Official Vinyl Albums chart at No. 3. Despite the fact that the set has been selling well for 10 years, it has never before appeared on the U.K.'s ranking of the bestselling releases on wax alone. This frame, it's beaten only by The Fantasy Life of Poetry & Crime by Peter Doherty (No. 1) and People Like Me & You by The Sherlocks (No. 2). Hozier was recently reissued on vinyl to celebrate 10 years of success. Available in multiple colors as a double LP, some editions quickly sold out, as there was clearly pent-up demand to own the project on a physical format. Those purchases help the title debut and rise across the U.K. charts. As Hozier arrives on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, the singer misses the No. 1 spot for the first time. His only two other placements on that list — Wasteland, Baby! and Unreal Unearth — both spent one frame running the show. Hozier's self-titled effort also climbs on two other rankings. All the attention around this anniversary re-release pushes it a few spots north the Official Albums Streaming chart, where it places at No. 52. While far from a new high point, this frame is still special, as the title has now spent 200 periods somewhere on the roster. The collection leaps up the Official Albums chart — the consumption-based ranking of the most popular titles in the country — where it jumps from No. 65 to No. 21.

Bruce Springsteen Jumps Back To No. 1 Following His Public Rebuke Of Trump

Bruce Springsteen fans only have to wait about a month before the rocker delivers a massive batch of new music. The superstar is planning to drop Tracks II: The Lost Albums in late June, and the box set will feature seven complete projects that he wrote and recorded but never released. Excitement is already building in the United Kingdom, where many fans are revisiting Springsteen's earlier work in advance of that huge project arriving. That enthusiasm has pushed one of his most popular collections back to the summit on one major list, while another brand new title earns the rock legend another top 10 bestseller — just ahead of what's sure to be another sizable debut. Springsteen returns to No. 1 on the Official Americana Albums chart this week, stepping up from the runner-up rung with Best Of, his simply-titled compilation of hits. In doing so, he replaces Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé, which recently secured another stay at the top. Best Of has now spent 57 weeks on the Official Americana Albums chart, and it hasn't disappeared from the tally since it debuted in May 2024. Throughout that stretch of time, the release has never fallen outside the top 10. It has now earned seven stays at No. 1. Springsteen's music may be surging not only due to the buzz around Tracks II, but also thanks to the launch of his newly-retitled Land of Hope and Dreams Tour. The run of shows kicked off in Manchester in mid-May, continuing an adventure that originally began in 2023. At the first new concert, Springsteen spoke out against U.S. President Donald Trump, sparking controversy and returning both his name and music to headlines across the globe. The resurgence of Best Of to No. 1 appears to be a sign of support from his loyal U.K. fan base. As Best Of climbs to the top once again and returns to the Official Albums Streaming chart at No. 89, a newly-released surprise EP gives Springsteen another top 10 win. Land of Hope and Dreams opens at No. 8 on the Official Album Downloads chart this week. The rock icon produced the set using recordings from his now-infamous show where he criticized Trump, seemingly cementing his remarks in the public record. The fact that, after only a few days, the title stands out as one of the top 10 bestselling collections in the U.K. speaks volumes about the strong support Springsteen enjoys to this day.
