Kate Middleton wore a £28 clutch bag to Buckingham Palace's garden party
The Princess of Wales opted for a chic raffia clutch bag to accessorise her butter yellow outfit at Buckingham Palace's garden party, and it cost just £28 On Tuesday Kate Middleton made a welcome reappearance at Buckingham Palace's Royal Garden Party for the first time since 2023, and she of course did it in style. The Princess of Wales opted for a very on trend butter yellow midi dress, which she accessorised with a matching hat from Philip Treacy and a pair of nude heels. However it was her clutch bag that really caught our eye, with Princess Kate carrying Forever New's Lily Bag. Although its raffia design was perfect for adding an extra summery hint to her look, what was even more remarkable about it was just how affordable it was. The bag was originally priced at £28, and has been a staple in Princess Kate's wardrobe ever since she first wore it during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Although the Lily Bag has since sold out – no doubt thanks to the Kate effect, where her fashion choices often lead to increased demand for featured items – the affordable Australian brand still has several other designs that let you copy Kate's style. Just like Princess Kate's Lily bag, the other styles are affordable and chic and perfect for nailing the summer vibes. The closest match to the Lily bag we found on Forever New is the Kelsey Clutch, £50, which has the same design and structure as Kate's bag, just with the addition of stunning pearl and diamante details all over it for some added glamour. It has an easy-to-carry rectangular shape with a metal push clasp on the top, and a detachable chain strap that allows you to swap it to a shoulder or cross body bag. It also features a handy internal pouch for keeping your belongings safe. For something more simple the Andrea Weave Camera Bag is £35 and has a similar rounded rectangular shape with woven straw details. It also features a detachable chain and faux leather strap, with a zip fastening for added security. Next also features a similar style, with the Gold Raffia Structured Clutch Bag priced at a very affordable £24. Rather than a shoulder strap it features a removable wristlet strap that makes it easy to carry, with a zip top fastening. Pouch bags are also a super sought-after clutch design, and Mango's £49.99 Natural fibre handbag has a designer look on an affordable budget. Dune's Elsabeth Clutch is slightly pricier at £99, but has a grab top handle that makes it easy to carry. However if you want to follow in Princess Kate's budget-friendly footsteps, shop Forever New's range of bags now. The brand is also currently offering 20% off selected styles including summer dresses and co-ords that are perfect for holidays and weddings.

Vernon Kay's 'honest' verdict on King Charles and royals after Buckingham Palace party
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vernon Kay has shared his succinct opinion of King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family following a personal encounter. During a segment on his BBC Radio 2 programme, Vernon addressed a listener's anxiety about feeling like a "country bumpkin" at an upcoming Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. In the warmer months, the royals are known to hold three Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse as an opportunity to engage with members of the public acknowledged for their positive contributions. Vernon quickly shut the "bumpkin" notion down with some words of encouragement, explaining that they're "welcoming". He also revealed what the listener might expect if they met a member of the Royal Family. (Image: Jed Cullen/Dave Benett/Getty Ima) He reflected: "No, you won't! They're very welcoming in the back garden of Buckingham Palace. You'll have a fabulous day. The tea is absolutely delightful. The cakes are superb. "And if you get to bump into or shake hands with a member of the Royal Family, they are very, very gracious, very courteous, and right proper down to earth, I'll be honest with you." Last summer, Vernon, alongside his wife Tess Daly from Strictly Come Dancing, joined a roster of celebrities including Love Island's Maya Jama, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, action star Jason Statham, and The One Show's Roman Kemp at one such prestigious Garden Party. King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, and the Duchess of Gloucester were in attendance at the event, which was held to honour those working in the film, TV, radio, arts, and fashion industries. At the time, Buckingham Palace remarked: "From theatre to video games, publishing to design, museums and galleries to film sets and music studios, the creative industries, and the creators and organisations within them, bring happiness, prosperity and help shape the world around us." (Image: Getty Images) In a somewhat less regal snippet, Vernon was reportedly left mortified after encountering a surprising side of his wife's Strictly co-presenter, Claudia Winkleman's past, after digging up a clip from a 1996 interview where she chats about the art of flirting. Vernon revealed how, in one of Claudia's earliest TV gigs, she came on as a so-called "chat up expert" on Good Morning with Anne and Nick on BBC One and weighed in on various pick-up lines. Reflecting on modern dating, Vernon wistfully noted: "It's always difficult isn't it? These days it's all done on an app, which is kind of sad, takes the human element out of it, do you know what I mean? Just swiping." He claimed there was previously an "art" to chatting to "someone that you fancied". Vernon added that it was "difficult" before detailing how people would need to get "over that threshold" of "What can I say? What can I do?".
