Man's Desperate Attempt to Outrun Charging Polar Bear Caught in Harrowing Video
Holding a rifle, the man came face to face with the polar bear. Onlookers were recording from inside a home and watched as the polar bear charged the man. The terrified man ran towards his snowmobile, dropping the gun before speeding away.
The polar bear continued to chase the man for a few seconds before realizing it wasn't worth it. The recording stops soon after, so we don't get to see what the bear did next, but what a chase!
Viewers of ABC News' video had mixed reactions to the man's decision to toss the gun. @Choochmahoggin wondered, "What's the point of having the rifle if he's just going to throw it and run lol. That's not how I would've used it."
@Mr. Peckham shared, "He probably only survived because the sound of the snowmobile scared the bear for a moment. Riskyyyy..." Another commenter added, "He had a lottttt of faith in that snowmobile." I laughed when @Abby joked, "That bear has been trying to reach him about his car's extended warranty."
Commenter @Panya cracked me up when they said, "Wasn't in the mood for fast food so it stopped and waited for the next home delivery."Viewer @Luke K shared a reminder, "This is a good time to remember just because it looks cute doesn't mean it's friendly. Wildlife are often a lot more dangerous than people realize."
Outdoor Guide ranked 12 bear species by how dangerous they are, and polar bears held the number one spot. The spot was between polar bears and grizzly bears because both are iconic for their aggression, but Outdoor Guide shared, "Biology wins the day in our ranking. The largest bear in the world, polar bears clock in at an amazing size of 10 feet tall when standing, and commonly weigh over 1,700 pounds. These bears are also apex predators."
The article goes on to say, "Polar bears have incredibly sharp teeth and a bite force of about 1,200 psi. They are designed for ripping blubber off of seals, so imagine what they will do to you. Polar bears are not fussy about eating humans, either. They have even been known to hunt humans in some cases. If you plan on traveling to the Arctic, be sure to hire both a guide and a polar bear guard armed with a high-powered rifle." We want to add that you shouldn't drop the gun, either!

Demi Lovato Says Performing With the Jonas Brothers Was 'Healing'
Before Demi Lovato became a household name in the music industry, the Grammy nominee started out as a triple threat on the Disney Channel. More specifically, she landed the breakout role of Mitchie Torres in the network's beloved Camp Rock movies alongside the Jonas Brothers in 2008 and 2010. 15 years after Camp Rock 2 dropped, the stars reunited on stage during the opening night of the Jonas Brothers' Greetings from Your Hometown Tour at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 10. Since it was the JoBros' hometown show, they pulled out all the stops as Demi joined them for not one, but two (!!!) Camp Rock duets, 'This Is Me' and 'Wouldn't Change a Thing.' Not even a full 24 hours later, Demi opened up about the special moment and all the emotions that came rushing for her during an August 11 appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast. 'I wish I could have soaked it in a little bit more, but I was so focused on, like, 'What am I singing, the chorus or the verse right now?' I was so nervous that I was focused on just hitting my marks and doing the thing that I didn't really soak up the love,' the 'Fast' singer said of her reunion with Nick, Kevin, and Joe Jonas. She added, 'But seeing everyone and the reactions and everything just, like, filled my soul with warmth and love. It was incredible.' As for how it all came together, Demi revealed that Joe asked her to join him and his brothers on stage a week before the 'really important' performance. She went on to say that the experience was 'healing' for her, as it marked her first performance of Camp Rock songs with the band since they toured together in 2010. At the time, ABC News reported that she prematurely left the tour due to 'emotional and physical issues' following a physical altercation with one of her backup dancers. 'It was so healing for me, too. You know, we've been through so much together, all of us, the Jonas Brothers and I,' Demi explained, adding that they made an effort to hang out backstage and meet her husband, Jordan Lutes. She continued, 'It was really really great to, like, spend time with them. It was really cool. They came to my room, all three of them, and spent time getting to know my husband, which was really meaningful. And they just, you know, thanked me profusely for flying across the country to perform with them. And it was just so thoughtful. I felt so appreciated. And it was really healing for us. And I loved it.' Later during the interview, she shared that she recently watched the Camp Rock movies for the first time in a long time. 'I look at Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2 and even my albums—they're all scrapbooks for me,' she said, before candidly speaking about her mental health and addiction battles during the movies' production. 'I see a collection of memories that really fulfilled me and gave me so much life at a dark point in my life. I was kind of struggling when I was working on those projects, but those projects brought me so much joy,' she added. Demi and the Jonas Brothers have a long history that dates back to the 2000s, when they all climbed the Disney Channel ladder. Of course, they all starred in the Camp Rock flicks together, and the JoBros have writing credits on her debut album, Don't Forget. She also briefly dated Joe in 2010 and went on her joint headlining Future Now Tour with Nick Jonas in 2016. In case you're in the mood for more Demi lore, listen to her full convo on the Chicks in the Office podcast below.

'What's Happening!!' star Danielle Spencer dies at 60
Danielle Spencer, a former child actor best known for her role as Dee in the 1970s sitcom "What's Happening!!", has died, a publicist for her family confirmed to ABC News. Spencer died Aug. 11, after a battle with cancer. She was 60, according to Sandra Jones, a family friend who is serving as the family's spokesperson. "This untimely death is really hard to process right now," Jones told ABC News Tuesday. "She is a sweet and gentle soul and she is going to be missed very, very much." Spencer starred in 65 episodes of "What's Happening!!", an ABC sitcom about three teenage boys growing up in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts, according to IMDb. Spencer played Dee Thomas, the boys' younger sister. She also appeared in 16 episodes of the show's sequel, "What's Happening Now!" In 1977, Spencer survived a fatal car crash that killed her stepfather and manager, Tim Pelt, according to her biography on her website. After recovering from her injuries, Spencer went onto earn a doctorate degree in veterinary medicine in 1993. She moved from California to the Richmond, Virginia, area in 2014. At the time of her death, she lived with her mom in an area outside of Richmond, according to Jones. In addition to her mom, Cheryl Pelt, Spencer is also survived by her younger brother, jazz musician Jeremy Pelt. Jeremy Pelt shared a tribute to his sister on Instagram Tuesday, writing, "Many of you knew her as 'Dee,' but she was more than a child actress." "She was a friend, an auntie to my three children who adored her, she was a daughter- and in many ways, my mother's best friend, she was a veterinarian, she was someone who always remained positive even during her darkest days fighting this disease," he continued. "And she was MY sister and protector." He added that he was "thankful" to be with his sister when she took her last breath and was "gutted" by her death, writing, "I love you, forever." In a 2016 interview with a local Richmond TV station, Spencer reflected on her acting career being featured at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. "I seriously can't even digest it," Spencer said. "I mean, first of all, that the show is remembered from 40 years [ago], but then also to be featured in this museum along with other shows that have been trailblazers." Spencer said that her late stepfather brought her into the world of acting. At age 9, she said she got the call that she had won the role of Dee in "What's Happening!!" "A month later I got a phone call, and they said, 'Fly out to California. You have the role.' And it was just like my life changed," she said.
