One of the biggest storylines in the NFL right now has to do with the Pittsburgh Steelers and their current contract situation with superstar pass rusher T.J. Watt.
While the expectation has been and remains that the two sides will work out a new deal, it isn't coming easy. It's clear that there is some form of disagreement about what the value of the deal should be.
Watt has been the face of the Steelers' defense and is now 30 years old. He still has a few good years left in his career and it seems very unlikely that he will leave town. However, the two sides have work to get done to make sure that is the case.

Jordan Palmer spoke out on the Bleacher Report YouTube channel and offered his opinion on the contract situation. He detailed one problem that he sees between the two sides.
"The issue with this is a big swing with Aaron Rodgers. They know how important the defense is gonna be, they know they need T.J. Watt, and a deal is likely going to get done," he said. "But the Steelers' argument is this: that Watt and the defense kind of fell off a little bit the back end of last year."
He continued on, noting the injury issues that Watt has had in recent years. Watt has been able to play through them, but is there risk to giving him a massive new deal?
"He's had some injuries," Palmer stated. "He's battled through them. He's going to be 31 years old. Do you give $100 million guaranteed to somebody like that? I think that's where this battle's going to happen, but I think a deal is going to end up happening."

Those are very legitimate concerns from Palmer. They also could be exactly what has kept the Steelers from getting something done with Watt to this point.
Last season, Watt played in 17 games. He racked up 61 tackles, 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes. Keeping that production in town will be pivotal to competing for a Super Bowl.
All of that being said, Pittsburgh has a tough decision to make. The two sides will continue talking and it will be interesting to see what happens when it comes to a new contract that keeps Watt in town for the rest of his career.

Analyst tabs Tennessee Titans' Treylon Burks as a bust candidate
Analyst tabs Tennessee Titans' Treylon Burks as a bust candidate One of the best stories to come out of Phase 3 of the Tennessee Titans' OTAs was the return of wide receiver Treylon Burks to the field in a limited capacity. Burks, who is recovering from an ACL injury that cost him most of the 2024 season, was not expected back until the start of the regular season. However, he did return to the field for positional drills over the last three weeks of practice. Although he was unable to participate in team drills, this was an essential step in his recovery process. Burks' struggles in Nashville have been well documented, so it's no surprise Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports mentioned his name in his article featuring nine potential first-round busts heading into the 2025 season. After being selected No. 18 in the 2022 NFL draft, Burks has been plagued by bad luck and has not been able to live up to the expectations that were set by his selection. Treylon Burks - Tennessee Titans The minute the Tennessee Titans made Burks their first-round pick, the Arkansas product faced unfair expectations, literally entering with the selection acquired in the club's trade of star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. Things have only gone downhill since then, with Burks missing a combined 25 games due to various injuries, including a torn ACL, over his first three seasons. His best bet for 2025 is quietly building chemistry with new quarterback Cam Ward as the team's No. 3 pass catcher. Why he will bust: There's hardly a role for him anymore, with Tyler Lockett added as a Calvin Ridley complement. Why he won't: Both Ridley and Lockett are over 30, and Ward could be a major upgrade distributing the rock. Our prediction: Will bust Burks faces an uphill climb heading into training camp. Not only did the Titans add significant competition to the wide receiver room, but he is still rehabbing his ACL injury and has not been cleared for team activities. A physical receiver, Burks does have a skill set that could still allow him to carve out a role if he is healthy. Unfortunately, his health and injury history have hindered his development since the Titans drafted him. Will he be on the roster at the start of the 2025 NFL season? No one can tell at this point, but Brian Callahan and the Titans' staff will give him every opportunity IF he is healthy.

Is Aaron Rodgers 'In The Best Shape'?
Is Aaron Rodgers 'In The Best Shape'? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't calling on 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers to be the Aaron Rodgers of old. The one that torched the league throughout the 2010s with multiple MVP awards and a Super Bowl title. Advertisement That level of play is long behind him, understandably. Still, the Steelers are hoping another year of health and a motivated mindset could contribute to better quarterback play - and more wins - than what they've had during this recent rut. Critics brushed aside Rodgers' commitment due to him signing his free-agent contract late in the offseason and missing time in the Steelers facility that could've been used to get acclimated. One former quarterback, however, is making a major prediction about Rodgers' health and ambition as he embarks on his second full season back from a torn Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 season. "I can say here - and I think I'm 100 percent right - [Rodgers] is in the best shape and changed his body a little bit to fit who he really is," said Super Bowl champion Phil Simms on his podcast. Advertisement "You have an Achilles injury like he had, it takes time for everything to come back 100 percent. At the end of the year, he was throwing the football. That arm, they need to cut it off and put it in some museum or whatever. If he's given the opportunities, man, I think he'll come through big time." The arm talent clearly hasn't gone anywhere, but at his age, a lower-leg injury takes time to get back to anywhere near full health. Rodgers could be approaching that stage where he feels like himself again, because his performance at the end of last year showed it. Rodgers averaged over 250 passing yards a game with nine touchdowns and three interceptions in the New York Jets' last five games. Although last season didn't end in a lot of wins, Rodgers was objectively better as the season went on. The Steelers are banking on the future Hall of Famer returning to that form and supplementing their lowly offense with more production in 2025.
