Green and gold gees: Springbok newbie weeps during national anthem
The Stormers star was selected for the squad that played Georgia in Mbombela on Saturday, 19 July.
South Africa won 55-10 against the Eurasian country.
As they do every match, the Springboks were joined by thousands of rugby fans in the stadium and across South Africa as they belted out the national anthem.
Joining them for the first time in a test match were three newbies, Boan Venter, Neethling Fouche, and Marnus van der Merwe.
Nkosi Sikel iAfrika was sung by Corlea Botha, who wore a stunning emerald green gown to match the national team.
During her performance, tears streamed down Fouche's face.
Take a look…
Earlier this year, Neethling Fouche was one of several rugby stars called up to the Springbok alignment camp.
'It's the most incredible privilege'.
Ahead of his Springbok test debut in Mbombela, Fouche shared a touching message on his Instagram Story. It read: 'Jesus, all that I can say is thank you. You never stopped writing my story. All honour to you'.

Something on the side? Nando's pokes fun at Astronomer CEO
Nando's has done it again with another hilarious social media post, this time mocking Astronomer CEO Andy Byron who was recently caught cosying up to his alleged mistress during a Coldplay concert. While Nando's originated from South Africa, its Australian counterpart took a page out of its book with a cheeky advert. In an Instagram post, the flame-grilled chicken restaurant ran a promotion that poked fun at Astronomer CEO, Andy Byron. The ad read, 'Little something on the side? Enter Coldplay for a free regular side with any main.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Nando's ANZ (@nandosaus) In a clip that broke the internet last week, Byron was caught canoodling with an employee, Kristin Cabot, during a Coldplay concert. Byron is a married man whose wife's name is Megan Kerrigan Byron. Lead singer Chris Martin said of the awkward moment: 'Either they're having an affair or they're very shy.' Meanwhile, Astronomer – the DataOps company Andy Byron worked for – has responded to the social media storm with a cheeky video of their own. In the clip, an unexpected guest – Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin – made an appearance. In it, she tackled several 'burning questions' about the company and the scandal. Claiming that she had been 'hired on a temporary basis' in a PR post, Paltrow said: 'Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days – and they wanted me to answer the most common ones.' The Hollywood actress went on to indirectly answer a few spoof questions about what had happened. 'We'll now be returning to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers,' she added. The video comes after Andy Byron stepped down from his post as Astronomer CEO amid the backlash. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 . Kaizer Chiefs player ratings: Who FIRED, who FLOPPED
Kaizer Chiefs suffered another pre-season defeat after going 3-2 to Asante Kotoko in a penalty shootout in the Toyota Cup. The pre-season match, played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon, finished 0-0 after 90 minutes and penalties were needed to separate the two sides. Amakhosi were the better team overall but failed to take their chances. In the 82nd minute, captain Miguel Inacio missed a penalty after Mduduzi Shabalala was brought down in the penalty box. Who fired for Kaizer Chiefs? Thabo Cele 10/10 Cele orchestrated the midfield alongside Sibongiseni Mthethwa and was by far the best Amakhosi player on the field. He dictated the tempo of the game and allowed the team to play from the back, linking the defence and the midfield, thus forcing Asante Kotoko to starve for possession. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo 9/10 The young attacker has looked like a different player in the past few weeks. He was arguably Kaizer Chiefs' best player in the Netherlands and has now brought his form to South Africa. Ngcobo created space for himself in the midfield and often linked with Glody Lilepo and Mfundo Vilakazi. Flavio de Silva 8/10 The big striker impressed on Saturday after a difficult pre-season in the Netherlands. After failing to score in four matches, the 29-year-old striker has been heavily criticised, however, in front of Khosi fans, he created several chances and linked well with Lilepo and Ngcobo in the first half. Which Kaizer Chiefs players flopped? Miguel Inacio (4/10) The captain had a dreadful game on Saturday. Although he wasn't tested much, he missed two penalties. one during normal play and the other during the shootout. He made a few fouls and was often caught out of position. Lucky for him, the Asante attack was toothless. Wandile Duba (3/10) The young forward was introduced in the second half but failed to make an impact. He had a one-on-one situation but fired straight at the keeper. Duba has not looked lively for Kaizer Chiefs in a while and will likely start from the bench when the team plays their opening league game next month.
