Wolves manager joins celebratory fans in the pub after Spurs victory
Wolves fans enjoying a few local drinks after Sunday's win over Tottenham Hotspur were able to rejoice in style when manager Vitor Pereira joined them to celebrate. The 4-2 victory takes the team 14 points clear of the relegation zone, giving fans much to cheer about. But according to Moon Under Water shift supervisor - and avid Wolves fan - Luke Tomkinson, it was Pereira doing a lot of the chanting as he was mobbed by fans when he appeared in the city centre pub early Sunday evening."As a Wolves fan I was loving it, as a [Wetherspoons] manager I was hating it because a lot of my staff had already clocked out by this point," he said.
Mr Tomkinson said he missed the now adulated manager after Wolves' game against Ipswich, so he was excited when his door staff told him on Sunday "the big man is coming"."The first thing [I thought] was 'Oh my god is Tim Martin [Wetherspoons founder] on his way in? Oh my god we need to get the pub up to shape'," he said."He said 'no, no, the Wolves manager is coming in' and I was like 'Oh thank god. I missed him last week. I can see him tonight.'He said the team's assistant manager came in first with friends, fans noticed and began talking to them before he video called Pereira.
"You could see Vitor, I guess, in his bedroom or whatever.""A load of fans start crowding round the phone and chanting," he said, "I don't know if he was planning on coming in originally or not, but he sees all these fans chanting and he says, 'guys, guys, I'm on my way in' and obviously everyone cheers and goes mad."He appeared within the hour and "already had five or six pints in waiting for him" from fans, Mr Tomkinson said."It was funny because every time a taxi pulled up, everyone went tense, everyone went quiet. Every time a random customer walked into the pub everyone starts cheering and chanting Pereira's name - the poor customers were confused as anything."
"When the main man comes in, everyone burst into rounds of applause, [and] chants start going. "Vitor starts hugging fans - it wasn't like fans were going to hug him, Vitor was going up to the fans, shaking hands."People were FaceTiming parents saying 'Say hi to my dad'. Vitor was doing Wolves chants with these random people's parents - it was unreal."Mr Tomkinson said he tried to remain professional when he finally got to meet him."I went shake his hand and he grabbed me in an embrace and I thought: 'That's not what I was expecting'."He said given today's football environment was "full of ego", Pereira seemed genuine.

Why Matheus Cunha is Man United's best signing in years
The Manchester United rebuild is underway, with the marquee transfer of Brazilian Matheus Cunha from Wolves. After a difficult 2025 where the team really struggled to adapt to Ruben Amorim 's 3-4-2-1 formation, Adam Clery looks at why this is about as perfect a signing as it's possible to make.

Bruno Fernandes sends message as Man Utd release transfer statement
Manchester United have agreed a deal to make Matheus Cunha their first signing of the summer window and the outgoing Wolves star has been welcomed by Bruno Fernandes Bruno Fernandes' future may be up in the air right now, but that hasn't stopped the Manchester United captain from welcoming the club's newest recruit in Matheus Cunha to Old Trafford. Cunha, 26, has agreed to become the Red Devils' first summer signing after the club triggered the £62.5million release clause in his contract. The Wolves forward will add some much needed firepower to a United team who recorded their lowest ever Premier League finish last season in 15th. United formally announced Cunha's capture on Sunday, releasing a statement to confirm that they had met the Brazilian's release clause. The club wrote: "Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward's signing is subject to visa and registration. "The 26 year-old has 13 senior caps for Brazil, and, in his club career, has made 270 appearances and scored 72 goals in the English, Spanish, German and Swiss top flights. During two-and-a-half seasons at Wolves, Cunha has scored 33 goals in 92 appearances. "Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford." Shortly after the terms of the deal were confirmed, Fernandes took to Instagram to welcome Cunha to the club. The Portugal star shared a a video of the club's announcement with the message: "Welcome to Old Trafford @cunha". While Cunha's arrival comes as welcome boost for United, it remains to be seen if the talented forward will get to play alongside Fernandes or not. The Red Devils captain, 30, is currently weighing up a mega-money proposal from Al-Hilal, who are willing to pay Manchester United a staggering £100million to bring Fernandes to the Saudi Pro League. Fernandes' agent, Miguel Pinho, held 'positive' talks with Al-Hilal's powerbrokers in Riyadh last week. And it's understood that Fernandes has been given a few days to mull over his decision, with Al-Hilal wanting an answer sooner rather than later. Speaking after the club's defeat in the Europa League final, Fernandes opened the door to an exit, saying: "If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it's what it is. " Football sometimes is like this. I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go. "I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days. The day that the club thinks that I'm too much or it's time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I've always said it and I keep my word in the same way."
