Audi is nearing the final stages of development for its flagship Q9 SUV, which is set to compete with premium models like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Range Rover. Expected to be the largest and most luxurious Audi SUV to date, the Q9 will feature a three-row, seven-seat layout similar to the Q7, with a potential six-seat configuration similar to the Bentley Bentayga.
Built on an extended version of Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), the Q9 will support longitudinally mounted powertrains, ranging from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine to a powerful V8. A performance-focused SQ9 variant with a V8 engine and a plug-in hybrid option is also anticipated.
Audi first teased the Q9 during the Q8 launch in 2018, with prototypes spotted testing since 2021. Despite being camouflaged, design elements visible on the prototypes resemble current Audi models, including slim LED daytime running lights, a honeycomb grille, and a rear light bar.
Targeting markets such as the USA, China, and UAE, the Q9 may also reach the UK. The SUV is expected to debut in 2026, with a potential UK launch in 2027.

Verstappen eyes fourth Canada win

Max Verstappen will be seeking a record fourth consecutive Canadian Grand Prix triumph this weekend and a trouble-free race that helps him banish the threat of a suspension following his 'rash' moment in Spain. The four-time world champion goes into Sunday's race knowing that, if he collects one more penalty point on his racing license, he will automatically miss the Austrian Grand Prix later this month. That, according to his great mentor, Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko, 'would be a catastrophe'. 'He mustn't do anything wrong over the next two weekends and, of course, he will be told not to do anything rash,' the Austrian told The 27-yearold, who lies third in the drivers' championship with 137 points, behind leader Oscar Piastri on 186 and his McLaren teammate Lando Norris on 176, was penali sedat the Spanish Grand Prix for ramming into George Russell's Mercedes. 'He admitted it was a deliberate action that 'should not have happened' following the race, won with supreme self-control by Piastri, but now must survive two Grands Prix without incident before the points total on his license is reduced. 'Barcelona was disappointing for us,' admitted Verstappen. 'Although we gave it everything, it was not the way we would have liked the race to turn out... 'We are looking forward to Canada –- the track is unique, has some old school kerbs and plenty of opportunities for overtaking.' For Verstappen, the return to a high-speed circuit where brakes are tested to the limit may be welcome as he and Red Bull seek to slow runaway leaders McLaren in the title race. Winless Mercedes Mercedes and Ferrari will also hope for encouragement at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve where a big crowd is likely to give home hope Lance Stroll support as he returns after a medical procedure to reduce wrist a n d h a n d pain. Mercedes technical boss James Allison said: 'It's a track where we've tended to go well in the past and I'm looking forward to it. We have a few new bits to take and we'll see how we get on.' The Silver Arrows are winless since the Las Vegas Grand Prix last year while McLaren, remarkably given their current supremacy, have not won in Canada since 2 0 1 2 when seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton claimed one of his seven wins at the venue, a record that he shares with Michael Schumacher. Ferrari, always well-supported by the knowledgeable and passionate crowd, last won in Montreal in 2018, but will need a swing in fortune to secure another success, although the circuit has always been a favourite for Hamilton, who claimed his maiden win there in 2007. However, Hamilton arrives in Canada without a single podium finish this year and in need of a boost as he struggles with his car amid much paddock debate about the wisdom of his decision to leave Mercedes, where he won six of his seven world titles. For the 40-year-old Briton, it is not yet a crisis –- he retains total support from Ferrari and team boss Fred Vasseur –- but after nine of the 24 races this year, a long way from being a success. The American Haas team will mark their 200th race by switching to a grey livery that recalls their original colours in 2016.

Hamilton revels in Ferrari's ‘sea of red' tifosi

Lewis Hamilton beamed with pleasure after his first experience of racing for Ferrari and the tifosi on home soil at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday. 'Wow!' said the seven-time champion who left Mercedes to join Ferrari at the end of last year. 'What a day. I am so happy. So happy. 'The experience with the tifosi – wow! 'So, thank you to everyone who came out,' said Hamilton, after finishing a rousing fourth from 12th on the grid. 'It was really special for me to see the sea of red, but it looks like one of the biggest crowds we've had here. It felt vintage! 'It felt like back in the day when I was watching Michael Schumacher race here. A really great experience to see and to experience. 'I definitely didn't expect us to finish fourth. I didn't know where we would be able to come, given we were so far back. 'The car really felt great and the team did a fantastic job with strategy. 'They were faultless. Slowly, we are getting there and me and Riccardo (race engineer, Adami) did a fantastic job with the communication together. 'I was calm and I think he was calm and the team were calm in executing the strategy and the pit stops were awesome. 'Overall, it was mega! I was hoping for some extra laps and maybe we could have fought for a podium.' After a difficult run in adapting to car, team and language in the opening six 'flyaway' races, Hamilton, 40, showed his heart and spirit as he fought for positions and raced to within reach of a possible first podium for Ferrari. But it was a different story for teamm ate Charles Leclerc, in his seventh year with the team, as he lamente d his car's lack of qualifying pace and other setbacks on his way to sixth. 'You've got to race with heart and put your elbows out,' he said. 'You go to the limit and sometimes a bit over. 'When you start P11, as a driver, I cannot accept the situation we are in.'

These Are The Most Accident-Prone Cars In America

There are many factors that play a role in how frequently a model is involved in accidents, including driver demographics, size, and even color. In this infographic, Visual Capitalist's Marcus Lu ranks America's most accident prone car models using data compiled by Insurify. Data and Discussion The car models with the highest accident rates in 2024 are listed in the table below. Note that this is a slightly longer top 50 list. While we can't come to a conclusion based on this dataset, it is interesting to note that there are several EV models at the top of the ranking. This includes the Kia Soul EV (#1), the Chevrolet Bolt EUV (#3), Bolt EV (#8) and Volt (#11), the Volkswagen ID.4 (#5), and the Kia EV6 (#15). A likely reason for this could be the way electric motors deliver instant torque, which may surprise drivers who are used to the more gradual power curve of gasoline engines. Here's something else to consider: research from 2024 found that EVs were 4% more likely to have an at-fault insurance claim compared to gasoline cars.
