'Before, it was tough personally, but my wife made it very easy and she told me that everything works through God,' said Cupido.
Keanu Cupido has opened up about settling in at Mamelodi Sundowns after initially struggling for game time following his arrival from Cape Town City midway through last season.
Sundowns' Cupido on the rise
Cupido forced his way into the Brazilians' line-up at the recent FIFA Club World Cup, where he featured in all three group-stage matches against Ulsan HD, Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense.

This season, the 27-year-old has already played in all four matches across all competitions, a marked improvement from the previous campaign where he managed just two league appearances before the Club World Cup.
'Before, it was tough personally, but my wife made it very easy and she told me that everything works through God and if it's His time then everything will work out, and that kept me going,' Cupido said.
'She played a part in keeping me motivated and keeping my head up by continuing to work hard, so I feel like that's the most important thing, having a supportive structure.
'Going into the (Club World Cup) tournament helped me a lot and it showed people who I am basically. Now, I feel like I have more confidence going into this season than the previous one.'
Cupido will again be expected to play a key role when Masandawana face Magesi FC in the Betway Premiership at Seshego Stadium on Wednesday night.
'I just played simple and it helped me a lot'
He credited his teammates for helping him settle quickly and establish a strong partnership with Grant Kekana at the heart of Sundowns' defence.
'The players at Mamelodi Sundowns make it very easy for each and every one of us,' he added.
'If you go into a big game, the players will tell you to just do the basics for the first two minutes, keep it simple and your confidence will grow from then on.
'That's what I did, I tried to take it easy by not forcing and rushing. I just played simple and it helped me a lot to settle into the first game and from there onwards, it's been a dream.'
Kick-off for the match is 7.30 pm with Magesi still searching for their first win of the new season after two successive draws against Polokwane City and Stellenbosch FC.

The defending champions might have lost to Magesi in the final of last year's Carling Knockout, but they completed a league double over the Limpopo side.

Kaizer Chiefs starting XI vs Richards Bay FC

Kaizer Chiefs have announced their starting line-up for Tuesday's Betway Premiership clash against Richards Bay FC. Kick-off at FNB Stadium is at 19:30. Notably, coach Nasreddine Nabi is still missing on the Amakhosi bench, meaning Ben Youssef will again lead the Soweto giants alongside Cedric Kaze. New signings Etiosa Ighodaro and Asanele Velebayi are also not in the matchday squad, and so is Flavio Silva. Of course, both Ighodaro and Silva will need to have their paperwork sorted before making their debuts for Chiefs. Now, back to the starting line-up – the coaches have kept the core of the team that started the current campaign. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo starts on the bench alongside Gaston Sirino and rising star Naledi Hlongwane. Kaizer Chiefs injury update: Three key defenders

Kaizer Chiefs have given the latest update on three of their defenders ahead of the Richards Bay match. Amakhosi host the Natal Rich Boys at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening in a Betway Premiership clash. With head coach Nasreddine Nabi still in his home country over a family emergency, his assistant Khalil Ben Youssef has taken over. The young coach has given an update on Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Zita Kwiniak. 'I think with Dortley, he keeps working with our medical staff. They did a very good job with him,' Ben Youssef told the media. 'Soon, I think few weeks, he will be back with us, he and Given [Msimango] will start training sessions with the team. I think last season, it was tough for us when we finished the season. We finished, let me say the last three games without a defender on the bench. Given was injured, Zitha [Kwinika] was injured, and Dortley was injured, then we promoted Aiden [McCarthy] to play the last two games. Kaizer Chiefs are yet to concede this season, having kept two clean sheets so far. 'This season we start with Given and Dortley out, for sure, when they will be back, they will help the team with the experience they have, and also with confidence. They will fight for this position now. I think Aiden with [Inacio] Miguel, they perform very well, Zitha is coming, he is ready. 'Now they will be back, and it's confidence. And we know when we have a lot of players, the level of the players begins to increase,' Ben Youssef concluded. Kaizer Chiefs have signed eight players so far this season. Sebelebele strike breathes life into Orlando Pirates as Stellenbosch looms

Kamogelo Sebelebele's debut equaliser against Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend has reignited belief at Orlando Pirates as they prepare to face Stellenbosch FC in a key midweek clash. Photo: Backpagepix Image: Backpagepix Hope was rekindled when new signing Kamogelo Sebelebele made an immediate impact at his new club, levelling the score for Orlando Pirates in their MTN8 semi-final first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns this past Saturday. The goal was not only a significant milestone for the former TS Galaxy midfielder but also a timely boost for a team that had endured a lacklustre start to the season, restoring belief in what had been expected before the campaign began. While it is understandable that a new coach and several fresh faces are part of the equation, the reality remains that results are what ultimately matter. Heading into the crucial midweek clash against Stellenbosch FC at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday (7.30pm kick-off), securing a positive outcome will be at the forefront of the team's priorities. Advertisement Next Stay Close ✕ Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou made an effort to hit the reset button by reintroducing key players from the Jose Riveiro era, including Thalente Mbatha and Evidence Makgopa, in his starting line-up. Their influence on the pitch was noticeable, some more than others, but perhaps Ouaddou's greatest achievement was restoring fan faith. The line-up closely reflected what supporters had been calling for, resulting in unity rather than dissent. That said, fans' preferences should not dictate team selection. Still, their observations hold some merit: too many new additions can hinder chemistry, and while opportunities to score had presented themselves in the first two matches, the spark to break through was often missing. Sebelebele's goal may have been the first sign of that spark finally igniting, but the question remains whether they will be able to carry the momentum. Pirates now face a Stellies side that edged them 1-0 in their last visit to the notoriously challenging Slaughter House, the nickname affectionately given to the Pirates' home ground. A solid result against the Cape Winelands side would not only help Pirates get back on track but also build momentum ahead of Saturday's second-leg clash with Sundowns. Ouaddou has shown faith not only in the newcomers but also in the young players stepping up in the absence of injured regular skipper Nkosinathi Sibisi. Mbekezeli Mbokazi, in only his first full season since promotion from the youth ranks, has been holding the fort admirably. His performances have exceeded expectations for his age, earning praise from Ouaddou. 'Let me be very honest, I have to be careful with compliments because I worry that they might stop working,' Ouaddou said. 'If he continues to work hard, maintain professionalism, and live a disciplined lifestyle, he has a bright future ahead. What I saw against Sundowns was a performance worthy of big European clubs, and we are thrilled to have him here at Pirates, also a big club in Africa, but he must keep working.' At just 19-years old, Mbokazi is already taking on responsibilities typically reserved for senior players. His early success, however, does not lessen the importance of the challenges ahead. The upcoming fixture against Stellies will be just as critical, testing both the young defender and the team's collective resilience under pressure, especially on the back of their two shocking opening losses.
