Police say five men linked to the Wolfpack gang have been handed multi-year sentences after pleading guilty to trafficking drugs in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-BC), B.C.'s provincial gang unit, began investigating in July 2020.

Vinod Kanna Aruldevarajan, 28, has been sentenced to 4.5 years and Roger Bardales Medina, 32, was sentenced to five years, both after pleading guilty to trafficking a controlled substance.

Howjeen Saed, 29, was sentenced to 10 years, Hemen Hewa Saed, 32, was sentenced to nine years, and Diego Saed, 26, was sentenced to 6.5 years, after each of them pleaded guilty to both trafficking a controlled substance and conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance.

On Tuesday, EPS said retired Staff Sgt. William (Bill) Clark was charged with breach of trust 'in relation to releasing unauthorized and confidential investigative information with news media.' EPS did not say what information Clark allegedly released or to whom. Police said Clark unlawfully shared confidential and investigative information. During his time with the homicide unit, Clark was an outspoken detective who gave candid interviews. It was subsequently reviewed by the Alberta Crown Prosecution Services in Calgary to determine if criminal charges were warranted. EPS said those prosecutors recommended the Clark be charged with one count of breach of trust. The matter is now before the courts and police said no other details can be provided.

Surrey home destroyed by fire, family displaced
A two-alarm fire ripped through a home in Surrey on Monday night. Firefighters were called to 66A Avenue near 180th Street just before 9 p.m. The home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived and the fast-moving fire sent neighbours scurrying. All residents inside the burning home and tenants in the basement made it out safely. Security camera footage from neighbour George Mah shows there was a bang at first and then, shortly after, flames started shooting out of the garage and the family ran for safety. 'She heard the noise, went to look, and then as soon as she checked in the garage, yeah, she saw the flames and the smoke.' Story continues below advertisement The side panelling of Mah's home melted but no other neighbouring homes were damaged. 'It was an amazing call by the first-in captain on scene to send one of the second-in trucks around to the street behind and start attacking the fire from the backside and protecting the structures and cooling them,' Surrey Fire Service assistant Chief Greg Robbie said at the scene. Fire investigators remained on the scene on Tuesday, paying close attention to the BMW electric vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The vehicle was completely burnt out and the charging connector was still plugged into the car. 'Going to determine what the cause was and point of origin possibly,' Robbie said. 'We wouldn't speculate at this time because everything was on fire when we arrived.' Neighbours told Global News that the homeowners are staying with relatives nearby as they deal with the aftermath of this blaze.

Body of missing Merritt man found after he was last seen in March 2023
The body of a man missing from the Merritt, B.C., area since 2023 has been found, according to his family. Miguel Mack was last seen on Feb. 27, 2023, by his family and was reported missing on March 3, 2023. On March 1, 2024, BC RCMP's Southeast District Major Crime Unit said they believed Mack was a victim of a homicide. In a social media post on Monday, Mack's family members said his body had been found.
