Tripura Board of Secondary Education likely to conduct ‘Bochor Bachao' exam in July
The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) Monday announced it will likely hold a 'Bocchor Bachao (save a year)' examination for both Class 10 and Class 12 Board candidates after the completion of the 'self-inspection' and 'review' processes of answer scripts.
The 'Bocchor Bachao' examination, first implemented in 2020, allows examinees who have failed the Board exams to save a year by taking a retest.
'We are hopeful to start Bocchor Bachao examination from July 1 or July 2,' Dr Dulal Dey, Secretary, TBSE, told media persons.
The TBSE also started distributing marksheets of Madhyamik (Class 10) and Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinees on Monday.
'We have already notified that distribution of marksheets for both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary students would be done today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday). After marksheet distribution, the review process will start, where a student can apply for review for a maximum of three subjects,' said Dey.
The application forms for review of marks are available on the TBSE website. Students would need to submit their review application forms to their respective schools by May 8, while the schools would have to submit the applications to the Board by May 14.
The TBSE secretary further said that students who want to self-inspect their answer scripts are required to submit their applications by May 25.

Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Air Hostess's Body Found In Aircraft's Tail, Black Box Decoding On
Last Updated: The body of an air hostess has been recovered from the tail of the aircraft at the crash site in Ahmedabad, officials said on Saturday. Days after 241 people on board the ill-fated Air India flight 171, travelling from Ahmedabad to London, died in the plane crash, the body of an air hostess was recovered from the tail of the aircraft by the NSG, officials said on Saturday. The officials have also recovered the black box from the wreckage in the city. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft crashed into the hostel mess building near the BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad on Thursday, 33 seconds after takeoff – the horrific videos of which surfaced online. There was merely a lone survivor in the fatal incident. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Top Points NSG was conducting an investigation as part of its charter. While doing so, NSG discovered the body as it was in an inaccessible part of the plane, the NSG sources said. The NSG, forensic teams are among those at work at the crash site. At least 274 people were reported dead in the fatal plane crash. This death toll includes casualties of the passengers, crew members, and local residents. The government will hold a press conference today to give further details about the crash. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, who visited and inspected the crash site, will address the mediapersons. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered stricter safety checks for all of Air India's Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft. This move is meant to prevent any repeat of what is now considered one of the deadliest air accidents in India's recent history. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has begun decoding the data from the recovered black box with full force, Naidu said. The black box comprises the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), and was recovered from the rooftop near the wreckage. The black box will help investigators find out what caused the Ahmedabad plane crash, whether it was due to a technical problem or human error. It contains detailed data like engine settings, flight altitude, pilot controls, and conversations in the cockpit. The government has set up a high-level committee, led by the Union Home Secretary, to examine the causes that resulted in the crash of the Air India plane. The committee will also suggest comprehensive guidelines to prevent any such incidents in the future. The committee will not be an alternative to other inquiries being conducted by relevant organisations, the civil aviation ministry said. Air India's Board has convened an urgent meeting to review the incident and chart a course forward, sources told CNN-News18. The Chairman and CEO of Air India updated the Board on the early findings and the progress of ongoing investigations. According to sources, the Board's first response was to order a thorough internal audit to check the condition of the aircraft and review maintenance practices across the entire fleet. TTD plans major greening drive on Tirumala Hills
Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is set to significantly boost the green cover in the sacred Tirumala hills, aiming to expand it from the current 68.14 per cent to 80 per cent over the next three years. To achieve this, the TTD has allocated Rs 400 lakh for a comprehensive greening initiative that will be implemented from 2025-26 to 2027-28. The move follows the directive of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who, during his visit to Tirumala on October 5, stressed the importance of ecological stability in the region given its spiritual and pilgrimage prominence. He instructed the Forest Department and TTD to take swift and sustainable action to enhance the area's forest cover. Accordingly, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Tirupati has prepared a detailed three-year action plan covering 3,035 hectares of forest under TTD's control. The plan includes a range of interventions such as Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR), drone-based seed ball broadcasting, gap planting, removal of invasive plant species, habitat enhancement, and fire safety measures. Efforts to restore soil moisture, through the construction of percolation tanks and other soil and moisture conservation (SMC) works are also part of the proposal, along with essential administrative and minor road-related works. A breakdown of the financial outlay includes Rs 171.46 lakh for ANR initiatives including nursery development and seed dispersal using drones; Rs 65.68 lakh for fire protection and wildlife conservation efforts such as creating fire lines and employing seasonal fire watchers; and Rs 55.41 lakh for habitat enhancement measures like water pit construction and weed clearance. Additionally, Rs 24.90 lakh is set aside for SMC projects, Rs 32.54 lakh for administrative and field staff needs and Rs.50 lakh for minimal road restoration required to support these activities. The TTD Board reviewed and revised the initial Rs 650 lakh proposal submitted by the Forest Department. While endorsing most ecological components, the Board reduced the proposed Rs 300 lakh allocation for road work to Rs 50 lakh, clarifying that such infrastructure should serve greening goals rather than become a standalone objective. TTD Chairman BR Naidu, who chaired the Board meeting on May 20, 2025, reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to the initiative. He indicated that the Board would seek additional funding through donor contributions and relevant government schemes. The greening drive is also expected to expand into adjacent reserve forest areas covering 6,000 to 7,000 hectares, with coordination support from the State Forest Department. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests has been asked to oversee the extended effort through the respective conservator and DFO. With the TTD Board's approval secured, the proposal is now set to be forwarded to the State government for final clearance. Once approved, phased funding will be released to the DFO, Tirupat – Rs 173.64 lakh in 2025-26, followed by around Rs 113 lakh each in 2026-27 and 2027-28 - to implement the greening programme as planned.
