Is CJ Opiaza about to make history as the Philippines' first Miss Grand International queen?
In the wake of Rachel Gupta's exit as Miss Grand International 2024, MGI founder Nawat Itsaragrisil posted a video of first runner-up CJ, captioned with a cryptic phrase.
"Right person and real queen coming soon," Nawat said in his Instagram caption.
Nawat's post comes amid growing speculation about who will officially inherit the Miss Grand International 2024 crown.
In the comments section, CJ received an outpouring of congratulations from fellow beauty queens and fans online.
"Finally! You did it [CJ]. Congratulations! First MGI Queen from Philippines!" Samantha Bernardo said.
"Knew it since the start! Our queen [CJ]," Dia Mate said.
Miss Grand Philippines also posted a teaser video, writing "Being a queen isn't just about outer beauty—it begins within. Stay tuned!"
Should CJ be formally crowned, she would make history as the Philippines' first-ever MGI titleholder.

Amid the very public mess between Rachel Gupta the Miss Grand International organization, Filipina beauty queen Christine Juliane 'CJ' Opiaza is set to make history. According to a social media post of the beauty organization, CJ will have a crowning ceremony on June 3 at 2 p.m. Bangkok time (3 p.m. Philippine time) at the MGI Hall (Bravo BKK) and livestreamed on the GrandTV YouTube channel. CJ is not only set to become the new Miss Grand International 2024, she is going to make history as the first Filipino Miss Grand International. Her crowning comes after a flurry of back-to-back events that had India's Rachel Gupta resigning and giving up the crown and the MGI organization releasing an official statement that said they were terminating the beauty queen. Late Wednesday, MGI Founder Nawat Itsaragrisil teased that the "real queen [is] coming soon," uploading a video of the Philippines' CJ, who is Rachel's first runner-up. On her social media channels, CJ posted snaps of herself in a red Francis Libiran gown that evoked a phoenix and in the caption said, "rising from the golden ashes is a phoenix who is ready for a comeback to conquer the grandest heights." Lovely Abella revealed that her husband Benj Manalo has undergone surgery for his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). On Instagram, the 'Hello, Love, Again' actress shared a photo of herself beside Benj, who was lying in a hospital bed, along with an update on his condition. 'Sa panahon ngayon, mapamasaya o mahirap na challenge sa buhay, nagpapasalamat kami kay Lord kasi hindi niya ibibigay kung wala kami matututunan at heto 'yung panahon na mas lalong magiging deeper pa ang faith namin sa [Kaniya]' Lovely wrote. 'Thank you sa lahat ng prayers ninyo nasa recovery area na ang asawa ko,' she added. According to the actress and comedienne, Benj had to rush his operation because he wanted to heal quickly so he could dance with their daughter on her 18th birthday. Lovely expressed how proud she is of her husband and assured him of her unwavering support as he recovers. 'Excited kami sa mga travels at fitness journey natin,' she added. Lovely also shared via Instagram Stories clips and photos of Benj after his operation. In one of the videos, he can be seen walking slowly with his bandaged left leg while a health professional watched over him. Meanwhile, on Instagram Stories, Benj shared that he's now doing well and can move his leg without any pain. 'God keeps His promises. I can testify to that. Grabe ka lang Lord. You said to me before surgery everything will be OK and now everything is OK,' he wrote in the caption. '90 [degree] range, walking without crutches, no pain, all faith. Thank you Lord,' Benj added.
