Weekend ice threat from Great Lakes to New England could lead to treacherous travel on major interstates
We may be well into the start of astronomical spring, but Mother Nature is refusing to release its grip on winter as millions of people across the northern tier, from the Dakotas to Maine, brace for the possibility of a winter storm that could lead to disruptive ice this weekend.
How To Watch Fox Weather
The FOX Forecast Center said several rounds of winter weather are increasingly likely from the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes region to the interior Northeast and northern New England starting late Friday night or early Saturday, which could continue until the early part of next week.
While those regions are no strangers to precipitation like snow, it looks likely that icing could evolve in areas where colder air is trapped at the surface while warm air sits higher up in the atmosphere.

"The ice potential is not only for the northern tier, but through northern Michigan is going to exist, especially through the day, not just on Friday, but through the upcoming weekend as well," FOX Weather Meteorologist Michael Estime said.
Areas at risk of ice could potentially see at least one-tenth of an inch, which would make travel treacherous, especially on bridges, overpasses, on-ramps and off-ramps on major interstates like Interstate 75 in Michigan and Interstate 95 from Boston to Bangor, Maine.Original article source: Weekend ice threat from Great Lakes to New England could lead to treacherous travel on major interstates

Friday, June 6 forecast: Another stormy start to Saturday for some
We started the day with another round of rain and thunder. Heavy rainfall came with the risk of flooding, and there was some isolated severe weather as well. The most significant of which was in Wheaton, MO, where damage was confirmed to be caused by a tornado. The storms cleared out by afternoon and we even managed to end the day with some sun, but it looks like another stormy start is on the way. Mother Nature is following the same script for Saturday morning with a wave of storms expected to organize overnight to the west. The storms will sweep along a frontal boundary from Oklahoma into Arkansas near sunrise. The overall track looks a little further south than Friday morning's round, and this will likely shift the risk of severe weather for Saturday morning a bit further south as well. Flooding will be the main threat, mainly across Northern Arkansas, where rainfall amounts will be highest. In addition to a flooding risk, we will have a risk of damaging winds, including a limited tornado risk, mainly south of a Pineville, MO, to Harrison, AR, line. Storms should make a quick exit later in the morning, with some sun trying to develop during the afternoon. Another system passing by to the north could trigger some spotty showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. A few of these could produce some isolated hail or wind, mainly closer to the St. Louis area. Sunday will get off to a quiet start with areas of fog. Sunnier skies and warmer temperatures can be expected ahead of another wave of thunderstorms that will move in from the northwest along a cold front. A few of these storms could also produce some isolated hail or wind. We will start drying out on Monday. A break from the spring monsoon will be coming for the upcoming work week. The quieter stretch will come with less humidity and dry conditions. We'll likely need the umbrellas again, though by the end of next week. Watch: Drone captures extent of flooding in Lubbock after severe storms
LUBBOCK, Texas – Severe weather swept through the Southwest on Thursday, causing power outages and flooded streets in Texas. The storm traveled more than 80 miles, producing its first tornadoes around Causey, New Mexico, and not giving up before reaching Lubbock, Texas, during the evening hours, where most of the impacts were felt. Drone video from Thursday shows the extent of flooding across parts of the city. In the video, lightning flashes across a darkened sky as a large truck drives through several feet of floodwater toward an on-ramp to a highway. The City of Lubbock said the storm caused damage to buildings, debris in roadways and severely flooded streets. As the video continues through the neighborhood, cars sit parked in the floodwaters. In other parts of the neighborhood, the flooding extends onto sidewalks. For the most part, it appears the homes and buildings in the neighborhood remained safe from the flooding. How To Watch Fox Weather However, some damaged homes and toppled trees were reported on the west side of town as a possible tornado blew through. Emergency managers reported one person was injured. The town of Smyer clocked a wind gust of 109 mph. The city of Lubbock said roughly 1,400 people were without power after the storms on Thursday evening.
