Friday, June 6 forecast: Another stormy start to Saturday for some
We started the day with another round of rain and thunder. Heavy rainfall came with the risk of flooding, and there was some isolated severe weather as well. The most significant of which was in Wheaton, MO, where damage was confirmed to be caused by a tornado.
The storms cleared out by afternoon and we even managed to end the day with some sun, but it looks like another stormy start is on the way.
Mother Nature is following the same script for Saturday morning with a wave of storms expected to organize overnight to the west. The storms will sweep along a frontal boundary from Oklahoma into Arkansas near sunrise. The overall track looks a little further south than Friday morning's round, and this will likely shift the risk of severe weather for Saturday morning a bit further south as well.
Flooding will be the main threat, mainly across Northern Arkansas, where rainfall amounts will be highest. In addition to a flooding risk, we will have a risk of damaging winds, including a limited tornado risk, mainly south of a Pineville, MO, to Harrison, AR, line.
Storms should make a quick exit later in the morning, with some sun trying to develop during the afternoon. Another system passing by to the north could trigger some spotty showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. A few of these could produce some isolated hail or wind, mainly closer to the St. Louis area.
Sunday will get off to a quiet start with areas of fog. Sunnier skies and warmer temperatures can be expected ahead of another wave of thunderstorms that will move in from the northwest along a cold front. A few of these storms could also produce some isolated hail or wind.
We will start drying out on Monday. A break from the spring monsoon will be coming for the upcoming work week. The quieter stretch will come with less humidity and dry conditions. We'll likely need the umbrellas again, though by the end of next week.

Hot and dry weather this weekend
Drier weather will continue to move into New Mexico into this weekend. Storm chances will still be possible Friday afternoon in far eastern New Mexico. That includes another threat of severe weather. Temperatures will continue a warming trend across the state Friday. On Saturday, only a spotty shower or two is likely in northeast New Mexico, but on Sunday, more isolated storms are possible in northern and eastern New Mexico. Temperatures will again continue to warm up through the weekend, with Sunday being the hottest day for most. More moisture will move into eastern New Mexico Monday, bringing a better chance for showers and thunderstorms up to the northern mountains as well. Outflow from those storms will push moisture as far west as the Continental Divide Tuesday morning. This will bring a more widespread chance for storms Tuesday afternoon. Rain ends, sun breaks out Saturday afternoon
We have a rainy start to Saturday as a cold front and low pressure system works through the region, but have no fear! The weekend does not look like a wash out! By afternoon our winds will begin to shift to the Northwest allowing for dry air to filter in from the west leaving us with a partly sunny finish to the day. There could be an isolated spot shower or two working southeast during the afternoon, otherwise temperatures climb to the middle and upper 70's. We are watching for some additional wildfire smoke to pass through the region, especially close to the ground, leaving to unhealthy air quality especially in the counties highlighted in gray!
