I was in the heart of PSG's celebrations in Paris – it was a war zone with yobs throwing bottles and launching fireworks
OUTSIDE the Parc des Princes last night, it was carnage. Absolute carnage.
No sooner had the final whistle blown in Munich – as Paris Saint-Germain sealed a record-breaking 5-0 Champions League Final win over Inter Milan – the French capital erupted in celebration.

Those who live within a few-mile radius of the club's home ground had prepared for the worst, sensibly boarding up their shops and cafes in anticipation of mass trouble, and it proved to be a wise decision.
Tens of thousands of people, mostly young men wearing PSG shirts, sprinted away from the club's football ground and once they were outside of the wide police security perimeter, chaos ensued.
Motorists had to take evasive action coming off the motorway slip-roads as people dangerously spilled into the street, throwing flares into their path.
Soon, the traffic was completely stopped around Porte d'Auteuil as supporters started celebrating in the street – and even jumped on stationary cars.
Coaches were blocked from moving forward and it was a surprise nobody was run over in the bedlam and disorder.
One large truck did try to drive its way through the mayhem but dozens of blokes simply hitched a ride on the back.
The air around the ground filled with the sound of air horns and revving motorbikes.
Red and white flares were lit by bare-chested fans who either had scarves around their faces or dodgy cigarettes in their mouths.
Smoke bombs were let off and some PSG Ultras brought along firework GUNS, shooting the pyrotechnics high into the Parisian sky at a frequent rate.
Though generally it was a mood of celebration and jubilation – it was the club's first Champions League success after all – there were some inevitable casualties.
HISTORIC scenes as PSG demolish Inter Milan in record-breaking Champions League final
I saw one woman hurt and needing attention from friends while others cowered for cover as fans rushed forward.
Ambulances were called to the area and so, too, were fire trucks.
And your SunSport correspondent had to sprint away for safety at one point when some of the remnants of the fireworks landed too close for his comfort.
The streets around the Parc des Princes, not far from where the Roland Garros tennis takes place, are in a well-heeled area, an influential region similar to Kensington and Chelsea in West London.
Yet anyone living in nearby expensive flats, who had been hoping to get to sleep early, would have soon realised their misgivings as the partying went on for hours, and long after 1am.
Those who were walking back to the Metro station after watching Novak Djokovic 's win on Court Philippe-Chatrier must have thought they were walking in a war zone.
Most of the yobs would not have lived in the local area themselves but they saw this European success as an excuse to break the law and cause disruption.
Some reckless parents even brought along their small children when really they should have all been at home.
What was surprising was the lack of a police presence to control the lawless situation.
There were reports of problems on the Champs-Élysées but in the well-to-do 16th arrondissement there was no police management or control.
Almost as if they thought, well we have our perimeter, that is all we are doing, but away from that, you are on your own, lads…
Local businesses are used to large numbers of people whenever PSG play at home but this was different – this was on a scale that locals had never seen before.

In any other situation, these scenes of unlawfulness would not be acceptable but because it is football, the authorities tend to shrug it off as what fans do to celebrate.
As someone who has reported on football matches for more than 23 years – and was a season-ticket holder at West Ham back in the 1990s – I'm not easily intimidated by these situations or by rowdy football crowds.
Yet you had to keep your wits about you as fireworks constantly went off and fans gathered in large numbers, smoking weed and sitting on bus stops.
I had sympathy for those families trapped in their cars as they were surrounded by groups of young men.
It could have all easily and quickly turned very nasty – imagine what it would have been like had Inter had won the final?
One or two individuals did throw bottles at the odd police van trying to drive through the streets. Shards of glass were scattered all over the pavements.
And inevitably, some poor souls will be the ones clearing up all the mess this morning left by the hooligans.

Greenpeace activists swipe Emmanuel Macron waxwork from Paris's Grevin Museum before using it in anti-Russia protest
A WAX figure of French president Emmanuel Macron was yesterday stolen by Greenpeace activists — then used in an anti-Russia protest. The £35,000 depiction of the 47-year-old head of state has often been compared to a Thunderbird puppet, or a Ken and Barbie doll. 3 3 Two women and a man disguised as staff took the £35,000 model from Paris's Grevin Museum. They placed the figure in front of the Russian embassy, urging France to halt gas and fertiliser imports from Moscow. Greenpeace's Jean-Francois Julliard said: 'France is playing a double game. "Macron embodies this. He supports Ukraine but encourages French firms to continue trading with Russia.' When it was created in 2018, even museum staff admitted the Macron waxwork did not look much like Mr Macron. Grevin's director, Yves Delhommeau, said: 'A tense and anguished face, a frozen statue that doesn't live, this is not beautiful, it is something that just doesn't work.' Mr Delhommeau said President Macron did not meet with them in order to scan his face, so sculptors were forced to work with pictures of the 40-year-old. Others went online to ridicule the model, saying it was one of the worst depictions of a public figure ever made. The Grevin Museum is often compared to Madame Tussauds, the wax museum founded in London in 1835 by the French sculptor Marie Tussaud. Like the British version, Grevin displays the waxworks of numerous famous figures from around the world. Little Mix waxworks unveiled at Madame Tussauds Both museums are massive tourist attractions, with hundreds of thousands of visitors enjoying the waxworks every year. 3

Rachel Reeves threatens to sue Roman Abramovich over Chelsea FC sale proceeds
The chancellor and foreign secretary are threatening to take Roman Abramovich to court to seize the proceeds of his Chelsea FC sale. The Russian oligarch, who is sanctioned by the UK government over his alleged links to Vladimir Putin, sold Chelsea for £2.5bn to an American consortium in 2022, after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Those funds remain in a frozen UK bank account but are meant to be used for humanitarian causes linked to the Ukraine war. Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Foreign Secretary David Lammy have now said they are "deeply frustrated" an agreement cannot be reached with the oligarch and will take him to court if it cannot be dealt with soon. In a joint statement, they said: "The government is determined to see the proceeds from the sale of Chelsea Football Club reach humanitarian causes in Ukraine, following Russia's illegal full-scale invasion. "We are deeply frustrated that it has not been possible to reach agreement on this with Mr Abramovich so far. "While the door for negotiations will remain open, we are fully prepared to pursue this through the courts if required, to ensure people suffering in Ukraine can benefit from these proceeds as soon as possible." Abramovich was forced to sell Chelsea - which he bought for a reported £140m - after 19 years of ownership, after being sanctioned by the government over his alleged close ties to the Russian president - something he denies. The sale was made under the supervision of the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, under the proviso the proceeds go to humanitarian aid in Ukraine. They cannot be moved or used without a licence from the office. 0:46 In March, the Foreign Office said officials were in talks with Abramovich's representatives, but multiple sources told the BBC there had been no meetings between any Labour ministers and members of the foundation set up to oversee the funds since last July's general election. They said there was a deadlock and a political decision by a minister is needed to negotiate and sign off an agreement. It is not known if there has been meetings in the three months since then. The £2.5bn - and interest accrued - would make up for some of the reduction in the aid budget, announced in February.

'I'm pretty certain' - Gary Neville names four Man Utd players who must leave
Manchester United legend Gary Neville says Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho all have to leave the club. An unprecedented summer of change is being planned at Old Trafford on the back of yet another miserable campaign, in which Ruben Amorim's men finished with the club's lowest-ever points total in the Premier League. It's believed last month's Europa League final defeat ultimately cost United around £100million, with Tottenham overcoming the Red Devils to secure Champions League qualification for next season. INEOS showed they are ready to back Amorim in the transfer market by facilitating the impending arrival of Matheus Cunha, who is set to join from Wolves for a fee of £62.5m subject to visa approval and registration procedures. But the overhaul has just begun and United are intent on ripping up Amorim's misfiring squad, with several first-team stars facing uncertain futures and seemingly heading for the exit door. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. Rashford, Sancho and Anthony spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa, Chelsea and Real Betis respectively – with varying degrees of success – and the attacking trio look likely to move on over the coming weeks. Discussing potential comings and goings on the latest episode of It's Called Soccer, Neville argued that all three needed to make way, plus Garnacho – following the winger's public falling out with Amorim. However, Neville is adamant that United must do everything in their power to prevent academy product Kobbie Mainoo from leaving, with the midfielder being linked to Chelsea. 'On these five I'm pretty certain. Marcus Rashford has to leave for him and the club. I think that ship has sailed and he needs to find himself another club,' the former United and England right-back said. I would worry that Aston Villa haven't announced that they're keeping him already because I think that could have been an easy deal to do with United if they were going to keep him, so it sounds to me like Villa aren't going to keep him. I would say for Marcus' sake and for United's sake that it feels like that path has come to an end.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Switching his attentions to Sancho, Neville continued: 'I feel a little bit similarly with him as I do with Marcus. 'I'd be a bit concerned that Chelsea haven't made the noises that they're going to keep him. 'Again, Manchester United have to make sure they part ways with him and, for Jadon's point of view, he has to make sure that he parts ways with Manchester United.' Antony enjoyed a remarkable return to form at Real Betis in the second half of the campaign, racking up nine goals and five assists for the La Liga outfit. But Amorim has closed the door on Antony's return to the first-team and Neville feels United have little option but to sanction the Brazilian's exit. 'I can imagine he was absolutely going under while he was at Old Trafford,' Neville said. 'He's gone to Spain and having seen a couple of players that I played with not do it Old Trafford but do it in Spain… I think he's suited down to the ground and it's been proven. 'Over there, there's a different tactical awareness, there's a different technical ability and there's a way of playing that's just more suited to players. 'The players I'm referring to are players like Kleberson or Diego Forlan. It didn't quite happen for them but they had really careers and I think there are players like that who just aren't suited to a league. 'I think Antony is perfect for Spain and, again, somebody who Manchester United should facilitate leaving. It's best for Antony and best for the club.' Discussing Garnacho's situation, Neville went on: 'I think if players are taking on the manager and if players are questioning the manager in public through social media or other means, the manager has to win. 'If the manager doesn't win, the manager has to leave and I don't think that's going to happen this time. 'I think Garnacho will leave purely because of that, I think they've had enough. Garnacho can play in the Premier League, no doubt, but I think he'll love it and thrive in Spain. 'He'll probably be someone next season that we're all looking back on thinking, 'Why didn't Manchester United keep him?', there's an element of that, but I think he has to go. 'That's not me throwing my toys out the pram and saying, 'Get him out the club!'… no, for him and the club, I think it's right that he goes. 'Those four players should leave, not just because Manchester United should let them go, but because they should go and find themselves a place in their lives where they can go and play football because it's not at Old Trafford.' There have been some rumours that United could be open to the potential sale of Mainoo, which would represent 'pure profit' given the England international came through the club's academy. But according to Neville, Amorim should be building his midfield around Mainoo and the thought of the midfielder leaving is a 'step too far'. 'Mainoo, no. That's a step too far,' the eight-time Premier League winner argued. 'If we can't give Kobbie Mainoo a job in that two in midfield… I look at Mainoo and the way he plays football and I think a top club would want him. 'Why can't we make him a top player? If he's one of ours and he's shown talent. 'I don't know what's gone on there in the last few months. He's obviously had some injuries which has caused him a problem so he needs to stay fit, but I'd like to think he could be one of that two in midfield that Ruben Amorim plays. 'It's probably not Casemiro as his partner and it's probably not Ugarte as his partner, it's probably someone else in there who is better than those two, if I'm being honest. 'But we should be building around Kobbie Mainoo in central midfield and not because he's come through the ranks.' Neville is 'excited' by the arrival of Cunha and hopes the attacker can be a 'spark' capable of getting fans off their seats at the Theatre of Dreams. 'When your club signs a player, you should be excited. We know some of the players that play in his position are going to leave,' he said. 'We know that United haven't had players in that position this season because Rashford, Sancho, Antony have all been put out on loan, Garnacho is more than likely going to go with what's happened in the last week. 'Cunha's goals have been growing in the last couple of years. He had a decent return for a club that has been near the bottom of the Premier League than the top. 'Am I excited? Yeah, I am excited by it because United need players who know the Premier League, have got a bit more robustness about them in terms of what they've been through before and being at Wolves… that'll be tough because they lose quite a few matches. 'I'm hoping he comes to Old Trafford and sees this vast pitch, this amazing stadium, with 75,000 fans who love a player who can take someone on, someone who can travel with the ball. 'I'm hoping that he can shine a light. I'm not saying one player is going to change what's going on at the moment, but one player can be a spark.' For more stories like this, check our sport page.
