Heavy traffic expected in Oakland this weekend amid Pitt move-in, bridge closures
On Sunday, August 17, Pittsburgh's Bridge Inspection Consultant will conduct bridge inspections on two structures in the Oakland neighborhoods.
If the inspections proceed, they will require a partial closure of the Forbes Avenue Bridge in Central Oakland near Carnegie Mellon University. One lane will be closed while the sidewalk will be maintained.
Meanwhile, the Swinburne Bridge in South Oakland would see a full closure.
The Oakland neighborhood is already experiencing reduced access due to several ongoing traffic projects, including closures for the rehabilitation of the Charles Anderson Bridge on the Boulevard of the Allies between South Oakland and Schenley Park, the closure of the Panther Hollow Bridge and a lane reduction on Fifth Avenue toward Downtown due to private construction and Pittsburgh Regional Transit University Line work.
Motorists should expect congestion, delays, and detours throughout Oakland and surrounding neighborhoods.

'AND THE VENT WAS CLOSED:' Woman Gets into Boyfriend's Tacoma. Then She Sees the Strategically Placed Strand of Hair
Was it a stroke of luck? A sign from above? Or just a content creator messing with us? In a recent TikTok, Laci Johnson ( @laci_johnson ) filmed what looked like a strand of blonde hair drifting out of the front side vent of her boyfriend's Toyota Tacoma. 'Late night finds, but it's his truck putting a strand of girl's hair DIRECTLY in my face as soon as I get in,' she said. 'What a real one.' Stay informed with our newsletter every weekday back Sign up For more information, read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use . Johnson later revealed the whole thing was staged—the hair was hers, not evidence of some mystery woman—but that didn't stop commenters from swapping their own stories of discovering a partner's cheating through similarly bizarre clues. By Thursday, the video had garnered over 1.6 million views. Did Her Boyfriend Cheat? Probably not. In her first clip, Johnson implies the hair came from someone else—likely another woman her boyfriend was secretly seeing. She even refers to the mystery woman as 'a girl's girl.' Maybe she did suspect it at first. But in a follow-up video , Johnson clarifies the hair was her own. How she figured that out—or why she's certain it wasn't from someone else—remains unclear. 'When I make a video about finding a hair in my bf's truck and it gets a million views, but the hair was mine,' she says. Her Negotiation Skills Stop Salesman in His Tracks Still, spotting another woman's hair in your boyfriend's car can be a gut punch—something Johnson and plenty of commenters admitted. As Johnson put it, her 'crashout' was 'valid.' Do People Leave Tokens Behind to Expose Cheaters? If someone wants to reveal an affair, they might leave something behind that's impossible to miss. It could be a pair of underwear that doesn't belong to the spouse, tucked away somewhere it's likely to be found, such as the laundry or a drawer. Sometimes it's a note or letter that explains the situation directly, eliminating any uncertainty. Other times, it's smaller, like a hair tie (or a strand of hair), a piece of jewelry, or a stray item of clothing, just enough to prompt someone to start asking questions. On Reddit, one woman in the infidelity subreddit described sleeping with someone whom she later learned was married, and she asked commenters how she should discreetly inform the spouse. The answers ranged from leaving pads and tampons in their shared bathroom to posting a photo of herself with the other person online—and tagging the spouse. A large swath of commenters, though, advised against leaving these so-called tokens and, instead, said it's better to just confront the woman directly. If she's to go this route, though, Redditors recommended providing the affected woman with irrefutable proof, such as a picture of her at their house. Of course, not everyone involved in an affair will leave a token behind. But even if they don't, other signs may still emerge. According to Choose Therapy , many affairs are discovered in different ways, such as unusual behavior, increased stress, privacy around phones, decreased intimacy, or unexplained absences. Not everyone leaves evidence intentionally. When it does occur, the outcome can be challenging for everyone involved. Viewers React Before realizing the hair in Johnson's boyfriend's car was her own, some commenters insisted she was 'protected' and needed to leave him immediately. 'That's a sign literally,' one said. 'AND THE VENT WAS CLOSED,' added a second. 'You are divinely protected,' a third chimed in. 'That's the universe saying, 'Hey girl, we need to talk,'' a fourth TikTok user quipped. While Johnson doesn't appear to be ending the relationship—especially if there was no cheating—others still joked that it was a red flag for any man to drive a Tacoma and claimed she could do better. 'He drove a Tacoma girl, no loss there,' one woman said. 'He drives a Tacoma, you should have known from the start,' wrote another. 'Girl, he's driving a Tacoma,' a third added. 'Run.' Fans Blast Richard Childress as Austin Dillon Pulls Back the Curtain on RCR Tensions
Austin Dillon's win in the Cook Out 400 should have been a celebration. The 35-year-old driver rolled to his first win of the 2025 season in the #3 Chevrolet and locked in his playoff But rather than only focusing on enjoying the win, Dillon used his post-race press conference to share the family issues with his grandfather, Richard Childress, that still haunt RCR. He said: 'Well, I mean, we have knockdown dragouts between the two of us. We get into arguments to the point of frustration. And it's very hard when he's your grandfather to have an argument with him because you don't want to argue about it. But, there's certain directions we've got to go and move this boat forward, right? And uh I'm constantly pushing him.' That resonated a lot with fans. For some, it confirmed what they've long suspected. That Richard Childress is at the roadblock, keeping it from adapting to NASCAR's modern world. 'Stuck in the Past': NASCAR Fans Clash Over RCR's Direction On social media, the reaction to Austin Dillon's revelations was immediate and harsh. Many fans insist RCR has not really changed since Dale Earnhardt's era and his passing in 2001. One fan said: 'When them 2 take over the team and turn it into a winning team again we'll all realize RC refused to innovate after Dale died.' This view suggests Childress leaned too heavily on Earnhardt. Other teams were already embracing data and innovation in the 2000s, but critics say RCR was stuck in the past, leaving the Dillons to deal with modernization decades later. Some fans take it further, saying RCR's reputation has always been overinflated. To them, the success of the organization was due to the drivers like Earnhardt and Kevin Harvick, and not the team itself. So, they suggest the team's struggles aren't new. They just look different and more apparent now that there are no superstars to overcompensate. Others see Austin Dillon himself as the solution: 'It's time for Austin to get out of the car and into the offices at RCR. Let him make the changes needed,' one fan said. Dillon's Richmond win proved he can still get it done on the track, but a growing number of fans believe his bigger impact will come from the front office . To RCR's credit though there are efforts for progress. They've hired technical leadership, locked down strong sponsorship and are doing great it in the Xfinity Series. But in the Cup Series, good results have been harder to come by. Dillon's win is a bright spot but Kyle Busch is winless in 2025 and has been for over 70 races now since February 2023. But Austin Dillon did offer some hope: 'You tell him one thing and he's going to be upset about it. And then two weeks later, he's like, 'Hey, what about this?' and you're like, 'That's a great idea!''
