The construction contract, valued at around Skr650m, is set to be included in the company's Sweden order bookings for the third quarter of 2025.
The upcoming phase will feature a twelve-storey structure with about 21,000m² of leasable space amenities, including a gym, conference rooms, a lounge, a restaurant, a café, and bicycle services.
Once completed, Solna Link will offer around 36,000m² of space in total.
Skanska said the proximity to Westfield Mall of Scandinavia ensures easy access to additional shops, restaurants, and services.
The company is aiming for the office spaces to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified at the Platinum level. The project also boasts pre-certifications for NollCO2 and WELL Gold.
Construction is scheduled to commence nexr month, with completion of the office building anticipated for the second quarter of 2027.
The Solna Station area is experiencing continuous growth, attracting new businesses and enhancing its reputation as a key public transport hub. With a new subway line expected to open in 2028 and existing connections for various modes of transport, Solna Link is strategically positioned for accessibility.
The development will be situated next to Skanska's previously completed project, Solna United, which was finalised in 2020.
In May 2025, Skanska signed an expansion and renovation contract with Swedish state-owned property company Specialfastigheter Sverige for the Österåker correctional facility, located north of Stockholm.

Failure Taught Them How to Succeed

My father and my mother's brother began their careers in the now defunct savings and loan industry in Chicago in the late 1950s. My uncle George was a young executive at Fairfield Savings and Loan, where his father, my grandfather, was president. In the early 1940s, my grandfather—'Pa' to us grandkids—had been a federal bank examiner. When the government decided to convert the failing Fairfield bank into a savings and loan—commonplace after the Depression—Pa got the nod. Right place, right time. My dad was an apprentice real estate appraiser at Draper and Kramer, a mortgage banking company. Established in 1893 by Arthur W. Draper and Adolph F. Kramer, the firm still operates today. According to its website, it became 'one of Chicago's premiere mortgage banking and residential real estate management firms,' promoting home ownership and providing residential financing during a critical period of city growth.

CSX profit falls 14% in the second quarter even though rail shipments were flat

CSX railroad's profit slipped 14% in the second quarter even though the volume of shipments it delivered remained flat as it continued working on two major construction projects on its network. The Jacksonville, Florida-based railroad said Wednesday it earned $829 million, or $0.44 per share. That's down from $963 million, or $0.49 per share, a year ago. That's in line with what the analysts surveyed by FactSet Research predicted. CSX is in the middle of expanding a key tunnel in Baltimore, so it will be able to carry double-stacked shipping containers, and the railroad is completing repairs related to Hurricanes Helene and Milton. But CEO Joe Hinrichs said the railroad is operating much more fluidly than it was in the first quarter of this year when the results disappointed. CSX's latest earnings report comes as rumors swirl in the industry about t he possibility that a merger between two of the largest freight railroads might be proposed. The Associated Press reported last week that Union Pacific was in merger talks with Norfolk Southern. If merger actions heat up in the industry, CSX could be a target for one of the western railroads trying to build a transcontinental network. But the prospects for any deals among the major freight railroads remain uncertain because regulators might be reluctant to approve them. CSX is one of the major freight railroads that serves the eastern United States and competes with Norfolk Southern.
