Tributes pour in for Glasgow DJ Derek Baird
Derek Baird, tragically died in his sleep on Wednesday after battling facial cancer for several years.
The former Knightswood Secondary School pupil who was a DJ at Groove City Radio and owned clothing range, Chasing The Phase, frequently shared his journey with the disease on social media.
He revealed on Facebook back in January that his treatments had now come to an end after receiving the likes of chemotherapy, radio therapy and immunotherapy for two years. However, nothing more could be done for him.
He also said he gave up on his DJ career to focus on being pain free and as comfy as possible towards the end.
Music promoter's STREETrave, who Derek worked with a number of times, lead tributes to the "brave man, who was an inspiration to all."
Taking to Facebook, they wrote: "As many of you know - our good friend Derek Baird passed away yesterday what this guy went through was unimaginable but yet he didn't hide away and he fought it head on!!
"He played Pavilion Festival, the Sr Summer all dayer and played Ibiza for us last year - what a brave, brave man - an inspiration to us all - our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
"RIP our good friend and sleep tight - Chasing the Phase!!"
Another person said: "So so sad, a true warrior right to the end. He fought with dignity, what an inspiration."
A third person said: "So sad. What a loss to the dance community. He will be spinning upstairs with the big man."
Another said: "I met Derek at Glitterbox last year and was blown away by his fight, determination and love for life. A genuinely lovely guy. Sending love to all of his family and friends."
Someone else said: "RIP Derek Baird you have been a true fighter and a massive inspiration to everyone with your journey. May you now rest in peace, mate."
Another wrote: "Such a cruel world, let's blow this up for Derek Baird after a brave battle he passed away. RIP brother. I didn't know you personally but I followed your journey and gutted to hear you have passed, hope you are out of pain now."
A close friend of Derek's wrote: "You tackled everything head on with such bravery and courage. The world is a sadder place without you big guy, will never forget you and the mark you left on us Keep chasing the phase on the other side my friend."

He had an affair with Alfie Moon's wife Kat Slater, tormented Pat Butcher on her death bed and told Sharon Watts' son Denny the truth about his dad Dennis Rickman. It's not the first time Jamie has spoken negatively about his time on the show. Penny Branning calls her dad 'big man Jack' in EastEnders In 2013 he appeared on Daybreak and said: 'I hated the scenes in the Queen Vic, I'm terribly sorry to everybody! 'I'm sure a lot of the cast will say the same thing - they're so long and laborious. 'You've got to stand there and wait for somebody over there to stop talking, so you're listening to that conversation, then it cuts to somebody else. You never shoot a scene quickly in there.'

Photo!' calls, began commentating at the age of 15. Now, after making history as the youngest caller of the Grand National in 1973, he believes the time is right to walk away aged 74. He reckons he is the oldest sports commentator in the world. The Guinness World Records might have something to say about that, as they last year listed 86-year-old Turkish caller Orhan Ayhan as the oldest. Either way, it's been a hell of a stint for fan favourite Tommo. A natural behind the mic with a flair for the dramatic, Thompson tried his hand as a jockey and memorably denied King Charles his only win as a jockey - in a charity Flat race at Plumpton in 1980. But he was to find his true calling in the booth rather than on horseback. He made his debut on the mic as a fresh-faced teen calling point-to-point meetings. The king of the one liners was quickly snapped up by the BBC, where he was part of their National coverage, before going to ITV and then Channel 4. There, he was a popular figure in their formidable line-up featuring the likes of the late John McCririck and Alastair Down - a period punters often refer to as the golden age of racing. In later years he became known to many as the archetypal Alan Partridge figure, thanks in part to toe-curling lines in promotional videos, including the infamous: "Are you well? I thought you were!" Fortunately, Tommo won't be turning his back on racing altogether. The commentary icon, who announced his retirement at the end of last year, will keep a hand in the game with some horses. And among them is 66-1 Redcar winner Cheerleader, the first to carry his colours in around 40 years. The three-year-old filly Tommo owns with wife Caroline flew home in a 5f contest under Joanna Mason. She hadn't got up to much under former trainer Karl Burke but showed bundles of improvement for Tina Jackson. A beaming Tommo couldn't stand still after the win and said: "Tina, who is my brother's partner, she is one of the hottest trainers in the UK at the moment. "It's my wife Caroline, she'll be watching this, she bought the horse, gave it six months off, gave it to Tina, gently brought her along… there will be tears streaming down her face.
