Bryan Ferry and performance artist Amelia Barratt share new video for title track of upcoming art rock album Loose Talk
Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry has teamed up with performance artist, writer and painter Amelia Barratt for the very art rock Loose Talk album, which the pair will release through Dene Jesmond Enterprises on March 28.
The duo, for which Ferry creates the music (it's the very first time he's created new music for another writer's words), have just shared a video for the abum's title track, which features Ferry's Roxy Music bandmate Paul Thompson on motorik drums.
'The whole experience of making Loose Talk has had an interesting newness about it," Ferry says. "It seems to have opened a whole new chapter in my work. There's a really strong mood to the work that Amelia does and I was very conscious of not getting in the way of her words. Hopefully, together, we've created something neither could do on our own.
"The nearest I ever got to doing pieces like this before would maybe be back in Roxy with In Every Dream Home A Heartache, and Mother Of Pearl. To some extent, those are kind of spoken monologues. I'm pleased that when we've played Loose Talk to people, they've said, 'Oh, this sounds really different.' That's what I've always wanted with everything I've done, or been involved in, to be: different. Different to what you've heard before, or seen before. That's the whole point of being an artist: trying to create a new thing, a new world.'
'Loose Talk is a conversation between two artists: a collaborative album of music by Bryan Ferry with spoken texts by me," adds Barrett. "It's cinematic; music put to pictures.
"There's possibility for experimentation within a frame. And there's a freedom in knowing exactly what my part to play is, then being able to pass a baton, stretching out creatively and knowing there is someone on the other side to take it further. Nothing feels off limits.'
Loose Talk will be available digitally, on CD, black vinyl, green vinyl and clear vinyl.

The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers: broken heart leads to heart trouble for Taylor?

Taylor has been making power moves ever since she and Ridge got back together on The Bold and the Beautiful. But what happens when her world falls apart (again)? Before Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) shipped off to Italy with Eric (John McCook) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Taylor (Rebecca Budig) asked him to set a date for their wedding. Prior to that, she asked him to marry her by presenting the ring he gave to her long ago. It's understandable that Taylor would be concerned about her relationship with Ridge. Everyone seems to think Brooke and Ridge were destined to be together, including Eric, who has been working tirelessly in the background to get his son to see the light. During their Italy trip, Ridge jumped into the water to save Brooke after she was knocked from Nick's (Jack Wagner) boat. If he hadn't been there, she would have drowned. After performing CPR and making sure she was all right, he pledged to make everything right, but we have yet to see what he means by that. In the preview for the week of August 11, Taylor tells Ridge that Brooke has a bright future ahead — with Nick. She adds that she's never taking her ring off. This doesn't make Ridge look happy. In fact, he looks downright miserable and we're guessing it's because he knows he has to call off the engagement. Truthfully, Ridge never should have let things get this far but he loves both of the women even though he's only meant to be with one of them. He has kids with both women but his ties to Brooke are, according to the fabric of the canvas, much stronger. After learning about how Ridge saved Brooke's life — and the reason he was on the shore that day to begin with — Taylor will likely surmise that her time with Ridge is limited. But credit to her for not going down with the ship without a fight. When she first arrived in Los Angeles, Taylor thought she was dying but it turned out to be Broken Heart Syndrome. She was diagnosed by Dr. Grace Buckingham (Cassandra Creech), who is in the middle of her own mess after fabricating Liam's (Scott Clifton) entire brain cancer scare to extort a million dollars from his father. (Now we have to wonder, can we trust her diagnosis? That's a whole other can of worms…) Knowing that she's prone to Broken Heart Syndrome, and knowing how those symptoms mirror actual heart issues, we have to wonder what will happen if/when Ridge calls off their engagement. With Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) out of town and most of the women around her tied to Brooke, Taylor won't have a lot of people she can turn to and if her symptoms start getting serious, she could be in trouble. We have a feeling that Ridge calling off the engagement will send Taylor into a spiral, and that will put him into an even bigger quandary as he tries to reconcile his feelings for both women while admitting that he messed up by leaving Brooke in the first place. She may have had Broken Heart Syndrome in the beginning, but something even more serious could put Taylor's health in jeopardy. The Mayor of Kingstown season 3 finale was tumultuous, to say the least. While a lot of issues were resolved, most importantly the Russian mafia which has had a chokehold on the McClusky family for three strong seasons, the stage is set for Mike to navigate new territory. It also comes as no surprise really that new cast announcements have been made for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, considering the characters that were lost in season 3. There was Iris (Emma Laird) and Kareem (Michael Beach) met their untimely fates. And, Milo (Aidan Gillen), who seemingly returned from the dead to take over Konstantin, succeeding with the manipulation of Iris before being overpowered by Mike. Milo's return made Mike's plan to finally rid Kingstown of its Russian problem in the season 3 finale a little tricky, but he managed it all the same. For season 4 though, co-creator Hugh Dillon told The Hollywood Reporter that the season 3 finale: "leaves a vacuum". But, he adds: "And it will be filled, it's human nature". But, who's next to step into the criminal abyss left behind by the eradication of the Russian mafia, we'll have to wait and see. Then, there was the shootout on the bridge during a confrontation with Bunny's game, which saw Kyle shoot at Robert to protect the innocent civilians around them. While this subsequently led to Kyle's arrest, it leaves the door open for Robert's story in season 4 given Evelyn is still hellbent on looking into him, despite him recovering in hospital from Kyle's shooting. It's all speculation for now as the Mayor of Kingstown season 4 plot is kept firmly under wraps. And I'd expect no less from a show filled with complicated dynamics and brutal exchanges. Though, Dillon did say, when it comes to Mayor of Kingstown season 4: "The scripts are graet, the characters great. And that's what we want to do. We don't want to leave any strone unturned. This show is very much rock 'n' roll". Will there be more seasons of Mayor of Kingstown? Mayor of Kingstown has a rather complicated relationship with renewals, especially after Jeremy Renner's serious accident in 2023 left the entire show hanging in the balance. But, even after returning for season 3, it still took a few months to confirm the return of Mayor of Kingstown season 4 was happening. It appears though that the plan has always been for more. In conversation with ScreenRant, Hugh Dillon reveals the aim has always been for multiple more seasons – with Taylor Sheridan already having planned an ending in season 7: "Well, Taylor's my mentor, he has been. He's coached me, this was the first thing he ever wrote, and he was my acting coach. "He coached me on 100 episodes of TV, and we would talk about this all the time. And when we first mapped it out, he's the king of knowing where it ends. I like intros, and I like explosive intros. And he has an ending for it in season 7". Dillon added: "So, our goal is to get to that season 7, because that's as far as we can get, because that's where he's always had it". Whether the show makes it that far is one thing, but if Sheridan has plans to extend its run with a multi-year deal at Paramount+ already in place, there's some real hope for more Mayor of Kingstown.
