Kanpur: In an unusual case in Etawah, a woman eloped with her father-in-law's cousin. She took her two daughters, one 3-year-old and the other 5-year-old, along with her, however left her eight-year-old son behind.
The incident came to light on April 3 when her husband, who works as a driver, returned from work to find them missing. After unsuccessful attempts to locate them, he announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for information about her whereabouts.
Police have initiated their investigation to find the woman. The husband expressed willingness to reconcile if she returns. Reports suggest the woman was involved with her father-in-law's cousin for some time.
On April 3, the woman's husband travelled to Kanpur for some work. Upon his return in evening he found his family missing along with some jewellery. His son was at home, unaware of the circumstances. The man filed a
missing person report
with the police.
He said that his father's cousin frequently visited their residence, raising no suspicions due to familial ties.
Police officer Balram Mishra confirmed the sensitivity of the case and assured swift action. "We are conducting raids at potential locations and using mobile tracking to locate the woman and her companion," he said. The official expressed confidence in finding them soon.

Negotiations between the authorities and the protesters remained inconclusive till late evening. Last month, Arrowhead's cub Kankati killed a seven-year-old boy. A week later, she killed a 40-year-old forest guard.

Vadodara: The investigation into the Rs 71 crore MNREGA scam, allegedly engineered jointly by a Gujarat minister's two sons and govt officers in Devgadh Baria taluka of Dahod, is throwing up more muck by the day. This stunning revelation was made by the prosecution in the sessions court in Dahod on Monday during the hearing of applications to cancel bail granted to Balwant and his brother Kiran, a co-accused. While opposing the bail for Balwant, the prosecution told the court of alleged WhatsApp chats that revealed that the login ID and password of the Bhuvan portal used for MNREGA works were shared with Balwant. A senior district police officer confirmed this on condition of anonymity. The portal is used to enter details of completed MNREGA works with geotags and photographs. The official said they are still investigating what the ID was used for. "We are gathering details about the IP addresses used to log in using the ID and password," the official said. Entries regarding the work are to be made by officials, which could be gram rozgar sevaks, technical assistants or other similar officials. The investigating officer moved the applications in the Dahod sessions court after Balwant and Kiran were granted bail by a magisterial court on May 28. The special public prosecutor and counsel representing the brothers submitted their arguments to the court Special public prosecutor Amit Nair pressed for the cancellation of bail even as the application was opposed by senior counsel Sudhir Nanavati. A total of 32 firms connected with the irregularities were detected in an investigation by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), which registered an offence regarding the scam. Balwant was linked to the firm Shri Raj Construction Co, while Kiran to Shri Raj Traders. Shri Raj Traders was paid Rs 30.04 crore, while Shri Raj Construction Co got Rs 82 lakh. Effectively, the brothers took over 40 per cent of the total amount of the scam.

Kolkata: A 64-year-old doctor, Chhabi Chaudhury Bose, who works with KMC and owns a joint account with her 90-year-old mother, alleged a theft of approximately 200 grams of gold, valued at around Rs 20 lakh, from her bank locker on June 5. Bose operates the locker from a nationalised bank's Shyampukur branch. Bose, a resident of Kristuaram Bose Street in north Kolkata, lodged an FIR with Shyampukur police on Sunday. Bose said, upon opening the locker around 12.40 pm, she found the steel box, which contained the gold, empty. However, another wooden box containing old fragile ornaments remained untouched. Bose was unable to take immediate action on the day of the discovery due to time constraint and her professional commitments. She stated how she revisited the bank the following day and approached the branch manager to report the incident in writing. However, she alleged that the manager refused to accept a written report. Bose has expressed her suspicion that someone from the bank might be involved in the theft. The stolen gold was reportedly intended for treatment of her mother and her cardiac patient husband.
