Kiefer Ravena signs extension with Yokohama in Japan B. League
Kiefer Ravena is staying put as the Filipino import inked another contract with the Yokohama B-Corsairs in the Japan B. League, marking his second year with the club.
The development also marked Ravena's fifth season in the league, spending the first three years with the Shiga Lakes. He joined Yokohama last year, replacing Kai Sotto as the team's Asian import.
"I'm excited to go back to Yokohama and play next season. We want to be a championship team and I believe we have to chance to do so. I hope we can stay healthy and bring a championship to Yokohama," Ravena said in a statement.
Ravena, who previously played for NLEX in the PBA, posted 9.8 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in the previous season where Yokohama racked up 24 wins against 36 losses.

Marck Espejo, Alas Men dominate reigning Korean V. League champs
The Philippines subdued another Asian powerhouse, pulling off a 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20 win against reigning Korean V. League champion Hyundai Capital Skywalkers in the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Team captain Marck Espejo, who played sparingly in their Tuesday clash against Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, took the lead this time around after churning out 20 points on 17 attacks, two aces, and one block. The win sent the Philippines to a spotless 2-0 card in the three-day tournament aimed to serve as the country's test event for the hosting of the FIVB Men's World Championship in September. Espejo got huge help from the young ones in the crucial fourth set with Ken Batas and Leo Ordiales leading a 9-4 rampage that gave Alas a 14-9 cushion. But the Skywalkers, who have just dethroned the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos in the Korean V. League, retaliated with a 5-1 run of their own to slice the gap to one. Batace then answered with two pivotal points, including a strong service ace, before middle blocker Peng Taguibolos poured back-to-back quick attacks that allowed the hosts to secure a 23-19 lead. Espejo soared from the back row, sending a bullet to zone one to hand the Philippines the match point at 24-19 while a service error from the Koreans sealed the win altogether. Alas will close out the invitationals on Thursday where it will lock horns with powerhouse Thailand national team. —JKC, GMA Integrated News

Mikee Romero ranks 6th in US Polo Rankings in April
Mikee Romero made history for the Philippines again after ranking as the 6th overall player in the United States Polo Rankings last April. The Filipino athlete collected 130 points to barge into the top ten just weeks after he rose to 24th overall in the World Polo Tour (WPT) amateur rankings, which allowed him to become the highest Southeast Asian player. Romero's rise to top 6 now sees him in an elite company with some of the powerhouse names in polo. Tomas Panelo is at No. 1 with 205 points while Juan Martín Nero and Adolfo Cambiaso occupy the second and third spots. Barto Castagnola and Alejandro Poma are tied at fourth spot with their identical 140 points. Romero's polo pony, Niki, also earned recognition after it was included in joint number one in polo horse ranking in the United States alongside Nero's Catwoman, Grant Ganzi's Girl Power, and La Dolfina Binter and La Dolfina Jetcost of Cambiaso. "This is a deeply meaningful moment. To stand among the best players in the U.S. and to see Niki recognized beside the finest horses in the world is a tribute to the effort, preparation, and heart that went into every game," said Romero. —Bea Micaller/JMB, GMA Integrated News
