Ramadan Vibes Meet Sustainability at Indian Consulate Iftar in Saudi Arabia
The Consulate General of India in Jeddah has celebrated Ramadan through a large and warm iftar gathering several officials, according to Arab News.
The iftar gathering brought together representatives of the Saudi government, diplomatic community, Indian diaspora, as well as leaders from sectors such as business, media and culture.

During the event, the Indian ambassador, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, highlighted the significance of Ramadan, noting its values of reflection, compassion and service.
Furthermore, Khan stressed the strong Saudi-Indian ties in various areas such as trade, cultural exchange and sustainable development.

Pilgrims perform ritual of Standing at Arafat, marking the climax of Hajj
Saudi Gazette report ARAFAT — Marking the climax of the annual pilgrimage of Hajj, over 1.67 million pilgrims started their main ritual of wuqoof (standing) at Arafat on Thursday afternoon after ascending the vast plains of Arafat earlier the day. The Saudi authorities have mobilized all their resources to ensure pilgrims complete the most important part of their lifetime spiritual journey in ease and comfort. On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman has arrived in Mina on Thursday to oversee Saudi Arabia's Hajj operation. Well-coordinated strategies and modern technologies are in place to facilitate the performance of Hajj rituals, ensuring a safe and reassuring environment for pilgrims on this significant day in Islam. Hajj is a once-in-a-lifetime obligation for all Muslims physically and financially able to make the pilgrimage. Chanting 'Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik (O God, here I am answering Your call)...,' the pilgrims streamed this morning to Namira Mosque in Arafat after spending a night of meditation and introspection in the Tent City of Mina. Male pilgrims in seamless white clothes — resembling a white sea of humanity and women in their abayas — are now spending the most crucial hours in their pilgrimage. Sheikh Saleh Bin Humaid, imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, delivered the Arafat sermon at the grand Namira Mosque. He emphasized that the Day of Arafat is a significant occasion when Muslims come together in unity, reflecting the true essence of faith. The sermon resembles the famous farewell sermon of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) when he performed his only Hajj. The Arafat sermon has reached a vast audience across the globe, through translations in 35 languages. After the sermon, Sheikh Bin Humaid led the prayers. Retracting the noble tradition of the Prophet (PBUH), he performed noon (Dhuhr) and evening (Asr) prayers, combined and shortened, with one adhan and two iqamas. Pilgrims joined the prayers at and around Namira Mosque, and then started performing the Standing at Arafat. Wuqoof Arafat, one of the four pillars of Hajj, begins after noon prayers. Pilgrims would engage in prayers and supplications until after sunset. They will seek forgiveness and pleasures of Allah. Many of the worshippers were seen holding umbrellas against the fierce sun while chanting Talbiyah and reciting verses from the Holy Qur'an after ascending on Jabal Al-Rahma (the Mount of Mercy) in Arafat. The vast plains of Arafat spread over an area of 10.4 square km and is inhabited only during the days of Hajj. On this blessed day, the pilgrims engage in the 'Talbiyah' supplication, remembrance of Allah, seeking forgiveness, and praising God, Almighty. They turn humbly and devotedly to Allah, spending the day praying for themselves, their families, their children, and all their fellow Muslims. Multitudes of pilgrims are standing shoulder to shoulder, feet to feet, for the emotional day of supplication in the desert valley where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his final sermon during his Farewell Hajj, calling for equality and unity among Muslims. Many pilgrims raised their hands in worship with tears streaming down their faces. Muslims in most parts of the world are observing fasting on Thursday in a sign of solidarity with the pilgrims. It is a great Sunnah for those who do not perform Hajj to observe fasting on Arafat Day. Under the sweltering temperatures, most of the pilgrims are carrying umbrellas. Cooling stations on the roads leading to Arafat and in its surrounding areas sprayed pilgrims with water to help fight the heat, which had already climbed to over 40 degrees Celsius at Mount Arafat. The pilgrims would remain at Arafat until nightfall in deep contemplation, supplication and recitation of the Holy Qur'an. After completing the ritual of Standing at Arafat by sunset, pilgrims then move to Muzdalifah in a calm and dignified manner, reciting talbiyah a great deal. They will offer the Maghrib prayer with three raka'a and Isha prayer in two raka'a at the time of Isha after reaching Muzdalifah, and spend the night there in supplication. They will head to Mina after Fajr prayer on Friday to perform the ritual of stoning at Jamarat Al-Aqba on the Day of Sacrifice when Muslims other than pilgrims in Saudi Arabia and many other countries start celebration of Eid Al-Adha festival.

Sheikh Bin Humaid emphasizes upholding values of family ties in Arafat sermon
Saudi Gazette report ARAFAT — Pilgrims gathered at Namira Mosque in Arafat on Thursday to perform Dhuhr and Asr prayers in congregation, following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), amid flawless security arrangements and integrated services. Delivering the Arafat Day sermon, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid, imam of the Makkah Grand Mosque, called for piety and adherence to the religion that was perfected on this day. He emphasized the values of family ties, truthfulness, moral conduct, and the spiritual essence of prayer, noting that these are integral components of true faith. He stressed that acknowledging Prophet Muhammad as the final messenger necessitates obedience to his teachings, alignment with his path, and rejection of religious innovations. He added that prayer not only connects the believer to Allah but also instills discipline, self-purification, and spiritual mindfulness. The sermon also praised the efforts of the Saudi leadership in serving pilgrims, ensuring their safety, and enabling them to perform their rituals in peace. Sheikh Bin Humaid urged all pilgrims to adhere to Hajj regulations as a religious and moral duty that ensures cooperation, safety, and order. Namira Mosque, one of the most prominent religious landmarks in Arafat, hosted tens of thousands of pilgrims. The mosque, originally built during the Abbasid era and massively expanded under Saudi rule, spans over 110,000 square meters and accommodates more than 350,000 worshippers. It features six minarets, three domes, and 10 main entrances with 64 doors. This year, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs installed 19 new shades in the mosque's rear courtyard to lower heat by up to 10°C, applied reflective coating on the ground, and activated 117 misting fans. A smart ventilation and air-conditioning system was also deployed, capable of renewing air at 100 percent capacity twice per hour, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for pilgrims.

Interior Ministry: Hajj success a shared responsibility as pilgrims arrive in Mina
Saudi Gazette report MINA — Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior emphasized on Wednesday that the success of the Hajj season is a shared responsibility, calling on all parties to adhere strictly to official regulations. Security and organizational preparations are in full effect to ensure smooth pilgrim movement between the holy sites. In a press briefing, Ministry of Interior security spokesperson Col. Talal Al-Shalhoub confirmed that pilgrims had been safely transported to Mina to observe the Day of Tarwiyah, in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). 'We are utilizing advanced technologies across all sectors to ensure the safety and service of pilgrims. There are no challenges we cannot overcome,' Al-Shalhoub said. 'Our efforts stem from the deep-rooted values of Saudi society—our security personnel serve without seeking reward except from God.' He underscored that the success of the Hajj pilgrimage is a collective responsibility, urging everyone to comply with safety instructions, adhere to scheduled group movement times, and respect approved transportation plans. He also warned of legal consequences for unauthorized transport of pilgrims. Al-Shalhoub revealed that authorities have issued 357 administrative decisions against 397 individuals involved in violating Hajj transport regulations. He added that anyone issuing visitor visas to those attempting to perform Hajj without permits would also be held accountable. Dr. Ghassan Al-Nouaimi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, reiterated Saudi Arabia's welcome to the pilgrims, noting the arrival of over 1.5 million pilgrims from abroad. He said more than 94,000 employees and 3,000 volunteers are serving the pilgrims this year. Al-Nouaimi projected that over one million pilgrims would arrive in Mina by the end of Wednesday, the 8th of Dhul Hijjah. He emphasized the importance of complying with the official pilgrim movement schedules and avoiding walking between the holy sites outside approved plans. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has also launched an updated version of the 'Nusuk' card with enhanced security features, linked to the Nusuk and Tawakkalna apps. Carrying the card is mandatory for all pilgrims during their movements in the holy sites and the Grand Mosque. He also highlighted that 97% of service providers were found compliant following more than 62,000 inspection tours of pilgrim accommodations. In addition, the operational capacity of the Mataf (circumambulation area) has been raised to accommodate 107,000 pilgrims per hour.
