National Croissant Day 2025: Burger King's special breakfast deal, plus other freebies

When it comes to pastries, the croissant stands out as unique.
Whether you're a constant or occasional consumer of croissants, Thursday, Jan. 30, is a good day to celebrate the pastry because it's National Croissant Day. Several food stops including Burger King have croissant specials.
The annals of food history records the croissant's predecessor, the crescent-shaped "kipferl" bread as being served in France in 1839, according to the Institute of Culinary Education. But it wasn't until French chef Sylvain Claudius Goy swapped out brioche dough for layered yeast dough that the pastry got its beloved flaky texture in 1915.
In recent years, there've been croissant hybrids including the cronut (croissant crossed with donut) and crookie (croissant and cookie).
These days, you can find croissants nearly everywhere, beyond bakeries to fast-food restaurants, convenience stores and supermarkets – and, of course, Costco.

Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift enjoy rare night out at Stanley Cup Final Game 4

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift might be enchanted with hockey now. The star couple was on hand at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Panthers and Oilers. Kelce wore a red top with red shorts as he rocked a white and red 'Palm Tree Crew' Panthers hat while Swift appeared to keep her look neutral in an off-white top and bottom. Advertisement Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attend Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final Swift, 35, has had plenty of viral hockey moments in life, including a reveal of the 2009-10 Predators then-new third jerseys during a concert in Nashville and, four years later, taking a picture with former Hurricanes star Joel Skinner, even holding up his jersey. She also donned Islanders gear in a skit with Jimmy Fallon for the 'Tonight Show' in 2015. Advertisement Kelce, who previously posted about his love of playoff hockey, and his brother Jason debated in October on the 'New Heights' podcast about which NHL players could also play in the NFL, and they named Oilers star Connor McDavid as one who could. In April, a source told Page Six that Swift and Kelce have enjoyed a 'special' offseason, which has largely been low-key after the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Eagles. 'They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It's a special time for them,' the source said. Advertisement 'Taylor is really looking forward to the upcoming NFL season,' a source told People on Thursday. Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule. 'This fall will be completely different. It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar.' The Panthers entered Game 4 leading the series 2-1.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce stunned hockey fans at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce stunned hockey fans at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final With a 2-1 lead in the 2025 Stanley Cup Final over the Edmonton Oilers, the Florida Panthers entered Thursday night's game hoping to inch a little bit closer to hoisting the trophy. The Panthers — who won the Stanley Cup last year after defeating, you guessed it, the Oilers — already had high excitement for Game 4. Well, the excitement ratcheted up a little bit more as celebrity super couple Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were in the house at in Sunrise, Florida to take in the game. The 14-time Grammy winner and 3-time Super Bowl champ have been dating since summer of 2023, and the duo has frequently attended sporting events in the Chiefs' offseason. Kelce, who had golfed in Fort Lauderdale earlier in the day, wore an all-red get up while the The Tortured Poets Department singer donned a cream-colored shorts ensemble with booties. The pair were filmed entering the arena hand-in-hand just after the game started. The couple was seen taking the game in, cuddled up together in the stands and looking at something on Kelce's phone. With the history between these two teams and the stakes of the game, it seems like Swift and Kelce have chosen the best possible time to take in their first hockey game together.

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce attend Game 4 of Stanley Cup Final in Florida

Pop superstar Taylor Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce were among the celebrities that flocked to Amerant Bank Arena on Thursday to watch Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers. Kelce, a Super Bowl-winning tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is a known hockey fan, and ever since he and Swift began their high-profile romance in 2023, the 14-time Grammy Award-winning singer has been known to pop in on big sporting events — including the last two Super Bowls — and cause an excited frenzy for fans. There were rumblings ahead of Thursday's game that the couple might attend the final. A helicopter landed near Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, ahead of the game. The VIP entrance to the area was also closed off, and the media elevator was not available for a period of time before pregame warmups began. Other celebs in attendance included former Miami Dolphins star defensive end Jason Taylor, who banged the drum before the game. Miami Heat captain Bam Adebayo was joined by former Heat captain Udonis Haslem on the drum on Monday. The defending champion Panthers led the best-of-seven series 2-1 heading into Thursday's game.
