Addressing media persons after meeting Union home minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Friday, the chief minister said that several important issues, including the Keshau Dam, were discussed in detail with the Union home minister. Shah was also apprised about the progress of various welfare schemes and development programmes being implemented in the state.
Responding to a question, the chief minister said that all necessary arrangements have been made for the CET examination to be held on July 26 and 27.

Bandi Sanjay urges Gadkari to release CRIF funds for Telangana road projects
New Delhi/Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi today and urged him to release pending Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) allocations for various road development projects in Telangana, particularly in his Karimnagar parliamentary constituency. During the meeting, Bandi Sanjay submitted proposals amounting to Rs 113 crore under the CRIF, which include key infrastructure works aimed at improving rural connectivity and addressing long-standing transportation issues. Among the proposals submitted are the construction of a high-level bridge over the Maneru River on the Bavupeta-Khazipur road in Kothapalli mandal, and the widening of the Gundlapalli-Pothur road in Ganneruvaram mandal. Additional proposals include the construction of bridges between Chandurthi and Motkuraopet, a bridge up to Kistampalli, and a high-level bridge over the flood canal between Arkandla and Kannapur villages in Shankarapatnam mandal. The Minister also handed over other pending road proposals related to his constituency for immediate consideration. Responding positively, Gadkari assured Bandi Sanjay that an appropriate decision would be taken soon on the release of CRIF funds for Telangana. He appreciated the urgency and said the proposals would be reviewed at the earliest. Bandi Sanjay also raised the issue of the much-delayed Karimnagar–Jagityala road expansion project. He reminded the Union Minister that a detailed proposal for converting the road into a four-lane stretch had already been prepared with an estimated cost of Rs 2,151.35 crore ahead of the last elections. However, the tender process for the project has not begun despite repeated assurances from officials. Taking serious note of the delay, Gadkari immediately called senior officials of the concerned department and sought an explanation. Officials informed him that the project had faced hurdles due to public objections and legal issues, but clarified that all such obstacles have now been cleared and a final report has been submitted to the committee concerned. Gadkari assured that once the committee gives its approval, the tender process will be initiated without delay and the long-pending Karimnagar–Jagityala road expansion work will be launched soon, an official statement said. ‘No Assessment Made' on Impact of Pahalgam Attack on Locals Dependent on Tourism: Govt
Union tourism minister Gajendra Shekhawat was answering a question posed in the Lok Sabha. New Delhi: The Union tourism ministry has not assessed the economic impact of the Pahalgam terror attack on locals dependent on the tourism industry, minister Gajendra Shekhawat said in parliament. In an unstarred question, Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi asked whether the government is aware of the decline in tourist visits and the subsequent losses suffered in Jammu and Kashmir following the terrorist attack, which he noted occurred during peak tourist season. To this, Shekhawat on Monday (July 28) tabled the number of domestic and foreign tourists the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department recorded in the Union territory from 2020 to 2024 as well as between January and June this year. Asked if the government had prepared an assessment on the attack's 'economic impact on local tourism-dependent stakeholders', Shekhawat answered in the negative. 'No such assessment has been made by the Ministry of Tourism on economic impact on local tourism-dependent stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir,' he wrote. Owaisi also asked for details of specific measures the government has taken to 'restore tourist confidence and promote tourism in the region' following the April 22 attack. While Shekhawat listed various official tourism-related initiatives applying across the country, including to Jammu and Kashmir, he did not characterise any steps as having been undertaken specifically in light of the terrorist attack. Terrorists singled out and killed 25 tourists – one of them a Nepali national – in the Baisaran meadow near south Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, sparking an exodus of tourists from the resort town during peak visiting season. They also killed a local man who offered pony rides to tourists. India blamed Pakistan for the attack and launched its 'Operation Sindoor' against nine sites identified as terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan as well as Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on May 7, sparking a four-day-long military conflict that ended with a ceasefire and numerous casualties on both sides. According to the data tabled by Shekhawat, 96,12,234 tourists – 95,92,664 of them from India and 19,570 from abroad – visited Jammu and Kashmir in the first six months of this year. In all of the previous year 2,35,90,081 tourists visited the Union territory. Data obtained via RTI has also suggested that only 10% of the purported tourist footfall in the territory since Article 370 was read down in 2019 went to the Kashmir valley. The activist who obtained the data has however claimed that the number of tourists going to the valley may have been inflated by poor methodology.
