3 new PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (June 6-8)

We're fully in showcase season with SGF 2025 starting today and a surprise State of Play happening earlier this week with tons of upcoming PS5 games shown off. Oh, and there's a little console called the Nintendo Switch 2 that just came out as well. But if you're a PlayStation faithful, you will need some games to play this weekend between showcases and while waiting for Death Stranding 2. Last week we got an early drop of PlayStation Plus games, but there's even more that just hit the service this week you might've forgotten about. I've picked out a fresh batch of brand new games you can get lost in over the weekend, so let's get to it. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk If you have any fond memories of Jet Set Radio, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was made for you. If you weren't around or missed out on that game, this is more than just a nostalgia play. This is a hip-hop-infused skating and graffiti game that looks and sounds like nothing else. You can choose to play on skates, BMX bikes, and skateboards but none of them are meant to be mechanically challenging. Instead, the game is more focused on style, tagging, and chaining together long strings of insane tricks. The maps might be a little too big and confusing later on, but it has a cool story, fantastic locations, and style all its own. Recommended Videos Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC. Alone in the Dark I hope you read my recommendations last week, where I said it was the perfect time to play Alone in the Dark 2. If not, I'm hurt, but it's okay. Alone in the Dark is a reimagining of the 1992 original so you're totally safe starting here. You can pick between two protagonists: Emily Hartwood, played by Jodie Comer, or Edward Carnby, played by David Harbour. This is a classic third-person horror game with slightly altered events depending on your character. Sadly, the game was met with mixed reviews and stiff competition at the time it came out and developer Pieces Interactive was closed down afterward. While not the best survival horror game I've played, it is still one worth trying for fans of the genre. Alone in the Dark is available now on PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Myst There was no predicting Myst and Riven would show up in the Classics catalogue, but that's why I love it so much. These two classic adventure games are the perfect games to go to next if you got hooked on Blue Prince earlier this year. These are first-person puzzle games with very little in the way of instructions, meaning you will need to use your own smarts to overcome the roadblocks. Because these games are on the older side, some of these puzzles are a bit unfair compared to what you might be used to now, so don't feel bad referring to a guide here and there. But, if you want that same satisfaction of working out a devious puzzle with nothing but your own brain power, these two games are exactly what you need. Myst is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mobile, and PC.

Sony reveals Project Defiant arcade fighting stick

Sony has a new PlayStation-branded arcade-style fight stick coming soon. The controller, dubbed Project Defiant, was just announced during the June 2025 State of Play showcase. It should pair nicely with some of the best fighting games on PS5 as well as the recently announced Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection and the Arc System Works fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The teaser only showed the stick, but more details were revealed in a subsequent PlayStation blog post. There Sony revealed that the controller can wirelessly connect to a PS5 or PC using PlayStation Link technology, though you can optionally plug it in via a USB-C cable. According to Sony, the Link allows for "ultra-low latency" with the aim of facilitating precise responses when pressing buttons or moving the stick. The Project Defiant fight stick is "custom designed" by Sony and features at least eight buttons with mechanical switches. It's a digital stick, so you can move it orthogonally but not freely in any direction. There is also a touchpad similar to the one on the DualSense controller and interchangeable restrictor gates. The controller will also come with a carrying case that includes a lever gap to keep the stick safe. Sony did not share a release date beyond 2026 instead saying that more details would come in the "months ahead." Those details will include the actual device name and eventually the launch date. But we'll have to wait and try one for ourselves to see if it's one of the best fight sticks for PS5. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.

Metal Gear Solid 3 teases what certainly looks like a Metal Gear Online homage, complete with its adorable Kerotan frog figurines

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the long-awaited remake that's easily among my most anticipated upcoming PS5 games, showed up during tonight's State of Play, and there was an interesting tease of something right at the end of the trailer. For a while, the latest Metal Gear Solid 3 trailer was pretty normal - at least by Metal Gear standards. There were stealthy shenanigans, some interesting cutscenes, and a healthy dose of action. After that, there was a whole section dedicated to the iconic Ape Escape crossover, which continues to look as peculiar as ever. The trailer appears to draw to and end, but then we get a tease of something else. we get to watch a character merge out of the background, having hidden from our view by use of an impressive ghillie suit. As they drop to the ground, however, their entire appearance changes - instead of leaves and branches, they now appear to be nothing more than a cluster of rocks upon the ground. That's bad news for the unfortunate goon who comes through right at the close of the trailer, entirely bamboozled by the camouflage. It's a little confusing - honestly, it's not clear whether this is an excellent active camo setup, or if it's a hint at some kind of online multiplayer mode. Long-time Metal Gear Online player (and my colleague) Iain suggests that the small frog figure that gets collected in that clip is a Kerotan - the figurine you were tasked with collecting back then. And active camo also made an appearance in Metal Gear Online, suggesting that really could be the tease. Either way, Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is set to launch towards the end of August, so I imagine we'll learn a little more relatively soon. The Summer Game Fest schedule 2025 has kicked off - albeit a little earlier than we thought it might.
