The Eastern Railway has urged bloggers and YouTubers not to take any detailed photograph or videography of stations under its jurisdiction for the interest of national security , an official said on Tuesday. The authorities concerned will enhance surveillance and ensure that no one can take detailed photos of important stations, which serve as connecting links, he said. The appeal from the Eastern Railway authorities comes days after a Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra was arrested on the charge of passing on sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives."Restrictions on taking photos or videos of station premises and platforms are in place. Now, we have decided to step up surveillance with emerging situations and security alerts across the country," the ER spokesperson said. Some bloggers or YouTubers try to take video blogs of railway stations, which is very alarming, the official said, adding that the curbs are in force across all sections and divisions, but some people don't want to follow the guidelines."Our request to bloggers and YouTubers is to not undertake such activities any more. The stress had been necessitated as security cannot be compromised," he said. The spokesperson said such restrictions had always been in place, but the ER felt the need to reaffirm them in the wake of the prevailing situation. The news media or channels can take photos of events on the station premises, but no common man is allowed to do so, he explained.Malhotra had posted numerous blogs on social media about her visits to several places across the country, including Sealdah station under the ER jurisdiction, and Dakshineswar temple in West Bengal.

Mohali surgeon duped in online trading scam, loses Rs 91 lakh; Cyber Cell launches probe

A senior surgeon working at a renowned hospital in Mohali has fallen victim to a large-scale online trading scam. According to the complaint filed with the Punjab State Cyber Crime Cell, the doctor was defrauded of approximately Rs 91 lakh by unidentified cyber fraudsters. As per the information shared with the Cyber Crime Police Station, the doctor received an email from a Hyderabad-based company claiming to be S&W Aubrey Capital Management Investment Funds. Through this email communication, he was added to a WhatsApp group called MK-S&W India VIP-67080. The members of the group assured him of daily profits if he invested in their trading platform. From February 19, 2025, to the last week of May, the doctor transferred funds through various channels such as UPI, RTGS, and bank transfers. The money was sent to HDFC Bank, Bandhan Bank, and Bank of Baroda accounts. In total, nine major transactions amounting to nearly Rs 91 lakh were made. The doctor stated that when he attempted to withdraw his profits, his account was deleted, and all communication with the fraudsters was cut off. Based on the complaint and supporting evidence, the police have registered a case against unknown individuals under sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Maharashtra FDA books Mumbai-based firm for reselling expired food products after repackaging

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently initiated legal proceedings against a Mumbai-based firm, Khushi Trading, for allegedly repackaging expired food products and reselling them in the market. The firm in Ghatkopar has also been accused of operating without a valid food safety licence and violating prior stop-business orders. According to FDA officials, the crackdown was conducted following inputs from Minister of State for FDA Yogesh Kadam and under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (Food) Mangesh Mane. An official said a surprise inspection on May 22 at the firm's premises in Cozmongie Estate, Ghatkopar (West), uncovered serious lapses, including the absence of an FSSAI licence, unhygienic storage conditions, and evidence of procurement of expired and near-expiry goods from retail giant D-Mart, which were allegedly being repackaged for fresh sale. 'This poses a direct threat to public health… The firm was found flouting multiple provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, including hygiene norms laid out in Schedule 4,' said a senior FDA official. Despite being issued a stop-business order by Food Safety Officer Abhinandan Randive on May 22, a follow-up inspection on May 29, conducted along with Assistant Commissioner (Food) Anupamaa Balasaheb Patil, revealed that the firm had resumed operations without permission, in violation of regulatory directives. Following this, an FIR was registered at the Ghatkopar police station under Section 223 (disobedience of lawful orders) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 55 (penalties for failing to comply with the food safety officer's directions) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. FDA officials have confirmed that an internal investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of D-Mart's involvement, particularly branches in Navi Mumbai and Bhiwandi, from where Khushi Trading allegedly sourced expired stock. D-Mart's comment is awaited on the matter. The FDA has reiterated its warning to all food business operators to adhere to food safety laws strictly and stated that failure to do so will result in stringent legal action. The FDA recently also suspended the food business license of Kiranakart Technologies, the parent company of the quick-commerce platform Zepto, following an inspection that revealed unhygienic storage practices for food items at its Dharavi facility in Mumbai.

Anti-independence forces stage mock trial against Hasina: Awami League

Anti-national and anti-independence forces have staged a mock trial against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a kangaroo court formed to implement their political objectives in Bangladesh, Awami League said in a statement. Formal charges were filed on Sunday against then Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for crimes against humanity committed during the student-led uprising in July-August 2024. The formal charges state that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the mastermind behind the inhumane acts such as crimes against humanity, murders, and burning of bodies across the country during the movement to overthrow the government in 2024. These crimes were organised on her orders. Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh Awami League, one of the largest political parties in Bangladesh, rejected the trial, calling it a mockery. Bangladesh interim government led by Muhammad Yunus earlier banned the activities of Awami League and its affiliated organisations to conduct the trial smoothly. "Today will be marked as a black day in the history of Bangladesh, because anti-national and anti-liberation forces have staged a farcical trial in the kangaroo court formed to implement their political objectives," Obaidul Quader, General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League said in a statement posted on the party's Facebook page. "Today, various farcical stories and absurd stories have been presented in the name of filing a complaint against Banglabandhu's daughter, leader Sheikh Hasina. The people of Bangladesh do not accept their fabricated farce," he said. "The illegal fascist Yunus government did not conduct a proper investigation into the incidents of casualties caused by diverting the student movement into different sectors through meticulous design in July-August," Quader said. "However, the Honorable Prime Minister (Sheikh Hasina) had formed a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the casualties. On the other hand, she had demanded an international investigation for greater transparency and impartiality," Quader said. "However, the fascist and militant Yunus blocked the path of this international investigation after illegally seizing power. On the other hand, we are all already aware that 7.62 rifles were used in all killings, which our law enforcement forces do not use," he said. "Not even an autopsy was conducted on any of the bodies. When such major questions arise, moving forward with the trial process without conducting a proper investigation is tantamount to fulfilling one's own political vendetta," he said. "Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tried war criminals against humanity with the aim of atoning for the history of the birth of Bangladesh. This farcical trial drama is being staged against the successful statesman Sheikh Hasina in retaliation," Quader said. "Yunus, the anti-independence and anti-national forces are uniting to implement the Pakistani prescription. Pakistan, defeated by India, is supporting the extremist communal militant groups in Bangladesh," he said. "There is a deep conspiracy to turn Bangladesh into a militant state. The fascist Yunus, the representative of this militant-terrorist group, wants to destroy the spirit of the great liberation war and the democratic culture and values in Bangladesh," he said. "They want to suppress the voice of the people's leader Sheikh Hasina, the invincible leader of the democratic movement led by the fascist Yunus. They are trying to indict Sheikh Hasina, the leader of democracy and the nation's hero, in a farcical trial in a false and fabricated harassment case so that she cannot return to the country. We strongly condemn and protest this plan," Quader said.
