Michelle Yeoh Will Carve Up the Screen in Brutal Action Thriller THE SURGEON — GeekTyrant
Michelle Yeoh is back in full force and this time trading multiverse chaos and Wicked musical magic for scalpel-sharp vengeance.
The Oscar-winning actress is set to star in The Surgeon , a stylized action thriller from The Resident creator (and real-life physician) Roshan Sethi, with producers from the John Wick franchise helping bring the carnage to life.
The Surgeon is intended to launch a new franchise, and in it, 'Yeoh will play a retired surgeon who is abducted and forced to operate on a mystery patient.
'Though greatly outnumbered, her captors have overlooked her greatest weapon: 35 years of surgical experience, leading to what the synopsis describes as an 'explosive and brutal confrontation' during which she outwits and cuts down her enemies 'in a visual style that defies anything you have seen before.'
Sethi said: 'I'm so excited to bring something brand new and innovative to the action genre based heavily on my medical background. I cannot think of a better partner than Michelle, the iconic queen of action who will be using her skills in a different and surprising way in this film, and the producing teams at Thunder Road, 193 and NeoText.'
The film reunites producer Basil Iwanyk and Patrick Wachsberger, who helped build John Wick into a global franchise. Iwanyk is producing The Surgeon with Erica Lee.
'Roshin wrote an incredibly complex and compelling character that was able to excite one of the world's great actresses in Michelle Yeoh,' said Iwanyk.
'I can't wait to see what that collaboration cooks up. And to work again with Patrick, who was so instrumental in getting the John Wick and Sicario franchises made, is a great thrill for Thunder Road. Michelle is a cinematic force and a perfect match for this role,' added Wachsberger.
'She blends grace and power, bringing emotional depth to even the most physical sequences. With her leading the cast and Roshan drawing on his singular perspective to tell a story only he could, we have a captivating franchise coming to life, and we look forward to bringing it to audiences around the world.'
Yeoh continues to stack an already legendary resume. Following her historic win for Everything Everywhere All at Once , she's appeared in Wicked , A Haunting in Venice , Transformers: Rise of the Beasts , and Crazy Rich Asians . She's also gearing up for Wicked: Part Two and James Cameron's Avatar 4 and 5.
If The Surgeon delivers on its premise, we may be looking at a badass new action franchise where Yeoh's surgical skill is every bit as lethal as her fists.

What follows is a gonzo tour through Marvel's weirder corners, packed with iconic (and not-so-iconic) villains, all ripe for dismemberment. Here's the official pitch: 'After being pulled through a portal to Mojoworld, Deadpool sees a chance to get rich—like really rich. He signs a sketchy contract without reading any of the fine print and then it's off to visit a bunch of locations from across the Marvel universe, battling against iconic (and not-so-iconic) villains. It's real metaverse stuff—in the Marvel Universe sense, not the VR one.' The game is dropping in late 2025 for Meta Quest 3 and 3S, and based on the trailer, it's shaping up to be wildly unhinged in all the right ways. The devs aren't holding back, either. 'Sure, you can simply stab or shoot your enemies, but where's the fun in that? Punch someone while holding a grenade? Check. Take your recently exploded-off arm and throw it at the bad guys? Gross, but also check. Hold an enemy's face into a spinning propeller? A bloody, but efficient, check. Soldiers, demonic dogs, weird humanoid lizards, creepy worm-things, they're all waiting to be dismembered in creative (some might say sadistic) ways.' You can watch the trailer now, fresh out of Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, and start preparing your stomach for VR-induced violence and fourth-wall-breaking shenanigans.

‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7' Reveal Trailer Proves This Is A Direct Sequel To ‘Black Ops 2'
Black Ops 7 Credit: Activision David Mason looks good for his age. The main protagonist of newly revealed Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 should be 56 years-old in 2035 when the game takes place. In the trailer he looks closer to the age of the actor who plays him: Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, This Is Us) is just 47. Ventimiglia is joined by Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) for the upcoming first-person shooter, which is set over over 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6. This is a decade after Black Ops 2 and 40 years before the events of Black Ops 3. Clearly, this game franchise does not like chronological order. Maybe that makes it more of a sequel to Black Ops 2 than Black Ops 3 was. (Black Ops 4 didn't have a campaign, so we won't list that one here, but Black Ops Cold War was set in 1981 and the original Black Ops took place in the 1960s). The fact that you play David Mason, son of Alex Mason who, along with Frank Woods, were the main characters in Black Ops 2, makes this feel even more like a direct sequel to that game. Adding to this feeling is the return of Raul Menendez, Nicaraguan drug lord and leader of the terrorist organization Cordis Die. In Black Ops 2, you play as David Mason and Frank Woods in the past timeline, and as David Mason in the present timeline. You have an option to kill or capture Menendez at the end of the game. His return in Black Ops 7 suggests that the 'canon' version is his survival and, apparently, escape ten years later (though given how Black Ops stories work, he could just be a figment of Mason's imagination). Michael Rooker reprises his Black Ops 2 role of Mike Harper, making this even more credibly a direct sequel to that game. Kiernan Shipka will play Emma Kagan. The trailer certainly paints a trippy picture of a high-tech near-future that veers into nightmare territory, as so many games in the Black Ops franchise tend to do, slipping between missions in the real-world and a psychedelic dream-world filled with demons and other nightmares. It's one thing I really enjoy in this Call Of Duty sub-franchise. There's no word yet on whether futuristic gameplay is returning to Call Of Duty, but I hope we get double-jumping and wall-running. Activision overdid these features when they included versions of them in Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare, but we've had 'boots on the ground' for a long time now, and I'm very curious to see how these mechanics would feel alongside omni-movement, which was introduced in last year's Black Ops 6. We do know, however, that you can play solo or co-op in the game's campaign, which was a feature included last in Black Ops 3. There are no hard details on how that will work or how many players will be able to team up yet, but we should find out more this summer. On the multiplayer side, Activision and Treyarch promise 'all-new maps' so this will not be a repeat of the Modern Warfare II / III debacle. MWIII released with all remastered maps from 2007's Modern Warfare 2 (it gets confusing) and was met with backlash from gamers who thought it should be DLC rather than a new game. But that game proved to be quite good with major improvements to gunplay and movement over MWII, so in the end I disagreed with those claims. Still, I'm glad to see new maps rather than remasters and I hope they're better than what we got at launch with Black Ops 6. Mostly, I'm just glad we're finally getting a proper Black Ops 3.
