Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani's bahu Shloka Mehta makes big statement on motherhood, says 'I tell my....'

India.com2 days ago
In a rare podcast interview with influencer and entrepreneur Masoom Minawala, Shloka Mehta, Mukesh Ambani's daughter-in-law, shared her honest thoughts about how she manages her work, dreams, and motherhood. In a video posted on Masoom Minawala's YouTube channel on July 18, Shloka Mehta spoke about how she manages work along with being a mom. She said that being part of a non-profit like ConnectFor gives her a chance to create something meaningful that her children Prithvi Akash Ambani and Veda Ambani can be proud of. For her, it's about leaving behind a legacy that shows her kids the value of doing something good for others.
Shloka talked about her role as the co-founder of ConnectFor , a platform that helps connect volunteers with non-profit organisations in India. She said working on something meaningful has given her life more purpose.
Shloka also shared her simple wish for her kids and other young people: 'I want them to know that any career is okay. It's fine if success comes slowly, just keep going and believe in what you're building.'
'You need to be aware of the world around you. You need to think, 'What can I do for it?' I think for me, it has doubled my resolve because you are creating something for someone you are fully invested in, who is going to be influenced by it. I think that is the best legacy you can leave behind for your kids. I was passionate about something that I really followed what I wanted to do, and I wanted them to do the same thing. Akash Ambani's support for her work
Shloka Mehta shared how important her family's support has been in her journey with ConnectFor. She said her biggest achievement so far has simply been keeping the organisation going and that wouldn't have happened without the constant encouragement from her and co-founder Maniti Shah's families.
'None of this would've worked if our families didn't stand by us or believe in us as much as we believed in ourselves,' Shloka said. She added that their parents and husbands, including Akash Ambani, are genuinely proud of their work. 'It feels really special when they say, 'This is what my wife does.' We've been very lucky.'

What is ConnectFor?
ConnectFor is a platform co-founded by Shloka Mehta and Maniti Shah that helps people who want to volunteer find the right non-profits to work with. As Shloka puts it, 'It's like a shaadi.com, but for volunteering.' They started it with one simple goal: to build a bridge between volunteers and NGOs that needed support.
Now, after 10 years, ConnectFor has grown a lot. It has worked with more than 1 lakh (100,000) volunteers and over 1,000 non-profit organisations. Because of their efforts, NGOs have saved more than Rs. 21 crore in resources. So far, volunteers have spent over 4.18 lakh hours helping others through the platform. Today, ConnectFor partners with 120 companies and more than 150 student groups across India.
Shloka also spoke about how the social sector in India often doesn't get the attention or credit it deserves. She said that a lack of funding leads to a shortage of skilled people, and without the right people, it's hard to make a real difference.
She also raised concerns about how policies are made without listening to people who actually work on the ground. For example, she mentioned school toilets built for girls that were never maintained properly. 'No one taught the girls about menstrual hygiene either,' she said, 'so the problem just came back.'
Shloka has always felt a strong desire to work in the social sector. After studying anthropology at Princeton and law at LSE, she came back to Mumbai in 2014 and started working in education. She said the huge gap in opportunities between different groups in society really moved her and made her want to help.
Shloka Mehta married Akash Ambani, the eldest son of Mukesh Ambani, in a beautiful wedding in March 2019. The two have known each other since childhood and even went to college together. Today, they are parents to two children. Their son, Prithvi Akash Ambani, was born in December 2020, and their daughter, Veda, was born in May 2023.

Saiyaara: All The Box Office Records Broken By Ahaan Panday And Aneet Padda's Debut Film

New Delhi: Yash Raj Films and director Mohit Suri's new romantic drama, Saiyaara, has taken the box office by storm. Starring debutant Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film has delivered one of the biggest openings for a newcomer-led film in Indian cinema history. Record-Breaking Opening Day Released on July 18, Saiyaara earned Rs 25 crore (approx. $2.9 million) on its first day in India. According to figures from YRF, nearly 9.75 lakh people watched the film in theatres on Day 1. This is the biggest opening day ever for a Hindi film led by debutants. It surpassed the record set by Dhadak (Rs 8.76 crore) in 2018. The film also had the highest opening day for a romantic film in recent years, ahead of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.1 crore), Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs 6.7 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar (Rs 15.73 crore), and Kabir Singh (Rs 20.21 crore). Highest Opening Day Ticket Sales For A Debut Film Saiyaara recorded Rs 9.39 crore in advance bookings before its release, with 3.8 lakh tickets sold. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported that 1.38 lakh tickets were sold across national chains, including 1.05 lakh in PVR INOX and 33,000 in Cinepolis. This is the highest opening day ticket sales for a debut film since 2000, when Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and Refugee made headlines for their strong openings. Best Opening Of Mohit Suri's Career Director Mohit Suri, known for films like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, has delivered his career-best opening with Saiyaara. The film's Rs 21 crore nett opening beats Ek Villain (Rs 16.70 crore), Murder 2 (Rs 6.95 crore), and Aashiqui 2 (Rs 6.10 crore). Fewer Shows, Bigger Impact What makes the film's success more notable is that it achieved this with just 8,000 screenings across India, less than half of the average 18,000 shows usually needed for such collections. Despite this, several theatres reported sold-out shows in major cities. Saiyaara Enters Top 5 Highest Opening Weekends Of 2025 Globally, Saiyaara grossed $11.9 million in its opening weekend, placing it at number 9 on the global box office chart, as per Comscore. In India, the two-day gross stood at $6.6 million, with Sunday numbers expected to push the total higher. The total weekend collection has reached Rs 83 crore, making it one of the top five highest opening weekends of 2025. Ahead Of Big Star-Studded Films In just three days, Saiyaara has earned more than several major releases of the year, including Sky Force (Rs 12.25 crore), Raid 2 (Rs 19.25 crore), Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 10.7 crore) and Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs 7.75 crore). It has also overtaken the lifetime collections of Maalik (Rs 23.27 crore), Deva (Rs 33.97 crore), Maa (Rs 38.51 crore) and The Diplomat (Rs 40.73 crore). The film surpassed Anurag Basu's star-studded film Metro... In Dino (Rs 48.47 crore) as well. A Romantic Comeback With the re-releases of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Rs 22.04 crore) and Sanam Teri Kasam (Rs 35.55 crore) drawing good numbers earlier this year, Saiyaara adds to the growing interest in romantic films. It now leads this trend with its strong box office run.

Sebi's AMC-family office plan sparks concerns over regulation and parity

Sebi's plan to let AMCs manage non-broad-based pooled funds without PMS licences has sparked debate over regulatory parity, competitive fairness, and market safeguards New Delhi The Securities and Exchange Board of India's (Sebi's) recent proposal to permit asset management companies (AMCs) to manage family office funds has stirred debate, with concerns surfacing around regulatory overlap and market parity. On July 7, Sebi released a consultation paper suggesting major relaxations to existing regulations. The key proposal includes allowing AMCs to manage non-broad-based pooled funds—such as family offices and certain offshore vehicles—without obtaining a separate portfolio management services (PMS) licence, provided strict checks and balances are implemented. 'If AMCs are allowed to offer segregated mandates to large clients under a new category, the lines between PMS and mutual funds (MFs) will blur further. This raises regulatory parity questions,' said Sonam Srivastava, founder and fund manager at Wright Research PMS. She argued that PMS managers operate under stricter minimum investment thresholds, compliance costs, and client suitability obligations. 'If AMCs are allowed to offer similar services under the MF umbrella but with lighter-touch regulation or brand-driven advantages, it could lead to competitive imbalance and arbitrage,' she added. Uneven playing field and a new revenue stream Until now, AMCs interested in offering management and advisory services to such funds were required to hold a PMS licence, a layer of regulation the AMC sector contended created an uneven playing field compared to other intermediaries. Sebi's latest proposal opens up a new revenue stream for the domestic mutual fund industry, which handles assets worth Rs 75 trillion. 'The proposals could enable AMCs to engage with a wider spectrum of pooled vehicles which are non-broad-based, such as family offices or select offshore funds, which were earlier outside the regulatory scope,' said Swarup Mohanty, vice-chairman and chief executive officer, Mirae Asset Investment Managers (India). Safeguards, definitions and structural implications Under the proposal, non-broad-based funds are defined as those with fewer than 20 investors, or where a single investor holds more than 25 per cent of the corpus. Sebi has outlined safeguards to address potential conflicts of interest, including caps on fee differentials, resource allocation norms, and clear firewalls between mutual fund and private mandates. Pradeep Gupta, executive director and head of investments at Lighthouse Canton India, said a new set of investors would benefit from an experienced and well-resourced buy-side investment architecture that has proven itself across multiple market cycles. Market structure, HNIs and the competitive landscape A recent Jefferies report indicated that the high-net-worth investor (HNI) segment is already crowded, with revenue streams layered through various commissions and fees. Professional wealth managers now oversee assets exceeding Rs 65 trillion, and the space is witnessing strong competitive momentum for deepening service offerings. The report noted a likely trend towards advisory-led models as wealth managers look to tap larger-ticket clients. Despite concerns over increased competition, several PMS managers believe their established expertise in serving ultra-HNI requirements will remain a key differentiator. Divam Sharma, co-founder and fund manager at Green Portfolio PMS, said AMCs entering this space will heighten overall competition, but will also be subject to tighter controls on fees and operations. 'We've already built the systems and expertise needed for personalised, complex wealth solutions, so most family offices will continue to seek out hands-on, bespoke service,' he added. To allay concerns, Sebi has proposed permitting ancillary activities for AMCs, including fund distribution and global marketing. Public comments on the consultation paper are open until July 28, with market participants expecting a final framework before the end of the year.
