Pro Football Focus has been putting together its ranking of the top 32 players at each position group. At the guard spot, Mason Cameron had Hainsey at No. 23 on his list.
"While we haven't seen much of Hainsey over the past year, he did show flashes on a small sample size, posting a 73.3 PFF overall grade," wrote Cameron. "That should be a positive step toward a return to form in Jacksonville."
With the addition of Graham Barton by the Buccaneers in last year's NFL draft, Hainsey played just 94 snaps in 2024 coming off the bench.
However, as GM James Gladstone described following the addition of Hainsey in free agency, there were two things about his game that stood out and made him a player that the Jaguars had to sign.
One facet is that he knows Liam Coen's offense after the two worked together while in Tampa Bay last season. As Gladstone put it, Hainsey's familiarity with the system "takes some weight off the shoulders" of Trevor Lawrence at the line of scrimmage.
The other part of Hainsey's game that grabbed Gladstone's attention was his play style.
"The whistle blows and he's playing through it, and that's something that we really, really value," Gladstone said.
The Jaguars signed Hainsey to a three-year, $21 million deal with $13 million guaranteed.

HOUSTON, Texas (WKBN) – NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is expected to sign a free agent deal with the Houston Texans, if all goes well with his physical on Monday. Chubb, who suffered a season-ending broken foot in Sunday's loss to Kansas City, appeared in eight games last season. He rushed for 332 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. The four-time Pro Bowler was originally selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. In seven seasons in the NFL, Chubb has piled up 6,843 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns.
