Jordan Super Cup first leg ends with tie
AMMAN — The first leg of the 2025 Jordan Super Cup Final, played on Monday evening at the King Abdullah II Stadium in Amman, saw Al Hussein Irbid and Wihdat share the spoils in a tightly contested 1-1 draw. Al Hussein struck first in the 31th minute when Rizziq Bani Hani found the net after a brilliant solo run and assist from Aref Al Hajj, who carved through the defence before laying it off. The goal gave Al Hussein an early edge and reflected their positive start. But Wihdat answered swiftly. Just three minutes later, at the 34th minute, Mostafa Kamal equalised for the Green Giants. He displayed great composure as he rounded goalkeeper Yazeed Abu Layla and slotted the ball confidently into the net to bring his side level. The match was an engaging affair, featuring moments of flair and tactical discipline from both teams. Midfield battles were intense, and chances were created at both ends, though neither side could find a late winner. With no away goals rule in effect, the tie remains finely balanced. Both sides now shift focus to the decisive second leg. The return fixture is scheduled for this Friday at Al Hassan Stadium in Irbid. With the aggregate score level, everything is to play for as both clubs aim to claim the first piece of silverware of the Jordanian football season.
