Pakistan are all set to take on Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series commencing from Wednesday, 28 May. The second T20I will be held on Friday, 30 May, while the third and final T20I of the series is scheduled on 1 June.
All three T20Is will be played at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, which will host its first T20I series after going through a complete renovation earlier this year. The T20Is will begin at 8pm, with the toss taking place at 7.30pm local time.
Salman Ali Agha will lead Pakistan, while Litton Das to captain Bangladesh. Both sides had their first training session at the Gaddafi Stadium under lights on Monday evening, while they will undergo another training session on Tuesday evening to get themselves ready for the series.
On head to head in Pakistan, both sides have featured in four T20Is with Bangladesh touring Pakistan for T20I in 2020. Pakistan have won three T20Is, while one match was washed out. Overall in five bilateral series, Pakistan have edged out Bangladesh four times with the visitor's only win coming in 2015.
Earlier, Mike Hesson was appointed Pakistan's white-ball coach, while Salman Ali Agha, who has so far led the team in nine T20Is, will continue to the skipper of the side.
Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan captain: "We had a very productive practice session yesterday and the boys are doing well as a unit. A lot of our players are coming off strong performances in the HBL PSL X, which is one of the most competitive T20 tournaments in the world. That form and momentum are something we are hoping to carry into this series.
"Bangladesh are a quality side with talented players and we are expecting a good challenge from them. I believe fans are in for some thrilling cricket over the next few days.
"I would like to urge fans to turn up in big numbers and support not just us, but the spirit of the game."
Litton Das, Bangladesh captain: "We have had a good training session and we are familiar with the conditions here. The players are looking forward to the series. Everyone is focused and understands the challenge Pakistan poses, especially in their home conditions.
"This series is a great opportunity for every player to step up. We are trying a few combinations in the build-up to the T20 World Cup next year and this tour is a valuable part of that process."
The Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled the five-member commentary panel for the series. Former Test captains Aamir Sohail and Ramiz Raja, Test cricketer Bazid Khan and former Bangladesh international cricketer Athar Ali Khan alongside Mike Haysman. Zainab Abbas will be the series presenter.
The T20I matches will be broadcast live on A Sports and Ten Sports in Pakistan, while the matches will be live-stream on Tamasha and Tapmad within Pakistan. 24 full High-Definition cameras will beam live action around the globe through PCB's broadcast partners.
For international viewers, Cricbuzz (Middle-East and North Africa), TSports (Bangladesh), Tapmad (Bangladesh), ARY (UK), Dialog (Sri Lanka), Super Sports (Africa) and Willow TV (North America) will broadcast matches internationally.
The tickets for the series have been put on sale to fans from 25 May onwards at TCS Express Centres (infographic attached). To encourage fans to come to the ground, affordable prices have been set for the matches with general enclosures tickets available from PKR 200, while Gallery tickets are available at PKR 2,000.

Azan and Shamyl lead run tables
Pakistan's new cricket stars Azan Awais and Shamyl Hussain lead the runs table in the recently-concluded Shaheen's tour of England. Shaheens, headed by Pakistan's national test- team vice captain Saud Shakeel, won the ODI series 2/1 while the two three-day matches were resultless. The series played in Kent, Hove and Canterbury grounds, saw the young blood dominate the proceedings through their consistency and wining partnerships. Azan played 7 innings and toped the run table with a tally of 276 while Shamyl, who was benched in the first two matches, scored 193 in 5 innings. Both average around 39 per innings. Their partnership of over one hundred in the crucial third one day decided the fate of the ODI contest that hung in balance. The two laid the foundation of the biggest run-chase of the series set at 261. Three-day matches were weather-affected and produced some quality batting from Shaheens including two centuries by Rohail Nazir and Ali Zaryab respectively while Amir Hamza, Obaid Shah, Musa Khan and Mehran Mumtaz did well with the ball. The overall batting honours again were shared by Azan and Shamyl among the Shaheen batters whose total runs tallies surpassed other performers. As per PCB website, Shamyl top-scored for his team in the three matches combined runs. In the list of top scorers from both sides, he is number 2 behind England's Luc Benkenstein, whose series tally was 197. Ali Zaryab (166), Haider Ali (159), Rohail Nazir (136) Saud Shakeel (128) and Muhammad Suleman were the other main run getters. Omair Bin Yousuf (77) Maaz Sadaqat (61) were the other batters with some the two, Shamyl's strike rate was 74 while Azan's was 53, befitting the battling styles of both, the former being a fluent stroke player while the latter a patient accumulator. The two also lead last year's first class run tables with Azan the highest run getter in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy's with 844 runs helping his region, Sialkot to win the title. Shamyl Hussain was the second highest run maker in the President's Trophy amassed 727, including the tournament's fastest double hundred and guided his department, PTV, to clinch the trophy. The team is returning home today.

PCB unveils central contract for women
Sadia Iqbal, currently ranked at the top of ICC T20I bowling rankings, has been awarded a Category 'A' central contract as the Pakistan Cricket Board announces the Women's Central Contracts for the 2025-26 season. To encourage young and budding cricketers, the PCB has also introduced an 'E' category, designated as the Emerging category. Two players – Eyman Fatima (uncapped) and Shawaal Zulfiqar (three ODIs, seven T20Is) are part of the Emerging category. Both players are members of the Ireland-bound Pakistan women's squad, which is set to play three T20Is from 6 to 10 August in Dublin. Also, both players were part of the inaugural edition of the ICC Women's U19 World Cup held in South Africa in January 2023. A total of 20 players have been awarded contracts across five categories, with 10 players placed in Category D. The contracts, which run from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026, see a substantial 50 per cent increase across all categories in player retainers. The contracts were finalised by the women's selection committee in consultation with head coach Muhammad Wasim. Over the next 12 months, the Pakistan women's team will feature in two ICC events – ICC Women's Cricket World Cup (September-October 2025) and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup (June 2026), in addition to playing bilateral series at home and the 20 contracted players, Aliya Riaz (Category B), Natalia Parvaiz (Category D), Sidra Nawaz (Category D), Waheeda Akhtar (Category D), Eyman Fatima and Shawaal Zulfiqar (both Category E) are new inclusions. In addition to Sadia Iqbal, Diana Baig (promoted from Category C to B) and Rameen Shamim (from Category D to C) have earned upgrades. Separate stands allocated for Pak-Afg fans during tri-series
The Sharjah authorities have taken significant steps to ensure peace and maintain order ahead of the highly anticipated Pakistan-Afghanistan clash in the upcoming tri-nation T20I series, set to begin later this month. With tensions often running high when the two sides meet on the cricket field, officials are determined to avoid any repeat of past incidents involving crowd unrest. As part of their security protocol, separate stands and entry points will be designated for Pakistani and Afghan fans at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The move comes following past incidents of clashes between the two sets of supporters, as cricketing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan continue to grow. With matches expected to draw full houses, the decision aims to ensure the safety and comfort of all spectators. Organisers have confirmed that ticket sales will be restricted according to nationality, with fans assigned specific seating areas throughout the tournament. The 16,000-capacity venue is preparing for a large turnout of both Pakistani and Afghan supporters. It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan and Afghanistan have met in seven T20 matches so far. Pakistan have won four of these encounters, while Afghanistan have emerged victorious on three occasions. For the unversed, the tri-nation series, featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE), is scheduled from August 29 to September 7 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Initially planned as a bilateral series between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed its expansion into a tri-nation event to offer all teams valuable preparation ahead of the ACC Men's T20 Asia Cup, which will take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28. The series will kick off with a marquee clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Friday, August 29 at 7:00 PM local time. Each side will play the others twice, with the top two teams qualifying for the final on September 7.
