Ashley Tisdale says her toddler thought Zac Efron was her real-life dad while watching ‘High School Musical'
The 'High School Musical' star opened up about how her young daughter Jupiter, born in 2021, got a little confused as to who her parents are when watching her famous mom onscreen.
During an interview with React for the upcoming season of her series 'Phineas and Ferb' on Tuesday, Tisdale said that while Jupiter knows her mom's voice and face are on the screen, she still wonders why her dad, composer Christopher French, isn't also on screen.
'She did think Chris was Zac (Efron) in 'High School Musical' (was) her dad,' Tisdale said with a laugh. 'She's like, 'Daddy!' I was like, 'No, that's not daddy.''
Tisdale also talked about how Jupiter is just now 'starting to understand' that her mom is an actor.
'In the last couple months her whole world has changed,' she joked, referring to her daughter recently getting into 'Phineas and Ferb,' on which she voices the character of Candace Flynn.
Efron and Tisdale starred in the popular 2006 teen musical movie 'High School Musical.' Tisdale's character Sharpay Evans and Efron's Troy Bolton played love interests in the film. Efron and Tisdale both went on to appear in the subsequent sequels, in 2007 and 2008, with Tisdale again returning to the franchise in 2011 for spinoff movie 'Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure.'
Tisdale and French wed in 2014 and share two children, Jupiter and new arrival Emerson, who was born last year.
The new season of 'Phineas and Ferb' is available to stream on Disney+.

At least that's Shankar's hope, as he recently told Deadline, 'I approached this as a new continuity. So, it's not a remake, it's not a rehash, but in some ways it's closer to a retelling. And that's the thing I do across all my stuff. If you watch even the short films on YouTube, it's always like there's the IP and then there's the Adi Shankar spin on the IP. I wanted my show to feel like Devil May Cry, to take the spirit of DMC, but I thought of it as like Marvel's Ultimate Universe, or even X-Men: The Animated Series, like reinterpretations that preserve the emotional core while restructuring the mythology to suit a new medium. Essentially the foundation remains, but the scaffolding has been rebuilt to support long-form storytelling in a serialized, animated format for streaming television.' Shankar continued, 'It's a new universe, but it is one constructed from a complete obsessive understanding of canon, right? Both the public-facing story and the deeper internal mythology that's only known to Capcom, because you get access to all of that and just kind of absorb it even more. And you become even more of a super fan because you've gotten to peek behind the curtain. So, then, my job as creator-showrunner is franchise architect for the DMC universe on Netflix. It's to essentially take the full spectrum of knowledge and build something that respects the past while unlocking new narrative possibilities.' Netflix Anime Hits Anime NYC: 'Blue Eye Samurai,' 'Splinter Cell: Deathwatch' and More

Old Dominion plays Minnesota State Fair ahead of latest album release
The sights and sounds of country band Old Dominion lit up the Grandstand at the Minnesota State Fair on Thursday, and WCCO got to sit down with the band hours before they took the stage. "They should expect to see a band very joyous and happy to be playing up there. It's a big night for us," said Trevor Rosen. It's a big night for a big album release. Their latest album, "Barbara," drops on Friday. "It took a lot of writing. A lot of writing and soul searching," they said about the new record. "Initially, it was to entertain ourselves. We thought it would be really fun to name the album off of a person's name. I don't think we realized it would take off like it has." Fans at their activation booth were psyched. "Super psyched. I've seen Old Dominion like six times," said Jill Waldmann, who flew from New York for the show. And it's not Old Dominion's first time at the Great Minnesota Get-Together. "I remember playing at the free stage before," said Matthew Ramsey. "Carrie Underwood was playing [the Grandstand]... I think there was a bluegrass band that played before us." Now that they have superfans like Carrie Underwood. "Thank you for giving us this life," Rosen said. "We always want people to take what they need. Once we put music out, it's theirs, not our's anymore," Ramsey said.
