Dipika Kakar reveals she has stage 2 liver cancer and shares how her son Ruhaan understood she was unwell. Shoaib Ibrahim calls him 'sensible'.
Television actress Dipika Kakar has revealed that she is battling second-stage liver cancer. Known for her work in Sasural Simar Ka, Dipika shared the heartbreaking update through a YouTube vlog with her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim. The couple opened up about the emotional impact the diagnosis has had on their family, especially on their one-year-old son, Ruhaan.
In the vlog, Dipika acknowledged the fear and weight the word 'cancer" carries. 'Cancer is a scary word for everybody. For the patient as well as the family. But the doctors have said that I've gotten this illness at a time when it can be cured very easily. We are just being strong," she said.
Shoaib also spoke about how young Ruhaan is reacting to the situation. Calling their toddler 'samajhdaar' (sensible), he shared that Ruhaan has sensed something is wrong. 'His feeding has completely stopped," Shoaib said. Dipika added, 'Mumma theek nahi hai, wo samajh gaya hai. Ek aadh baar din me aake wo bolta hai mujhe, par wo samajh gaya hai. But yes, sab log hain. So, we are staying strong."

Dipika went on to explain how the diagnosis came about. After experiencing persistent pain in the upper part of her stomach, she sought medical attention. A scan revealed a tumour the size of a tennis ball in her liver, later confirmed to be cancerous.
In a heartfelt message, Dipika described the past few weeks as extremely difficult. 'As you all are aware, last few weeks have been quite difficult for us… walking into the hospital for a pain in the upper area of my stomach… and then finding out it's a tennis ball size tumour in the liver and then finding out that the tumour is second stage malignant (cancerous)… it has been one of the most difficult times we have seen, experienced!"
Despite the diagnosis, Dipika remains hopeful. 'I am all positive and determined to face this and walk out stronger InshaAllah! With my entire family being by my side… and all the LOVE and PRAYERS pouring in from all of you, I will sail through this too!"

Meta rolls out AI-powered video editing across apps and web: How the feature works, eligibility and more
Meta has announced the rollout of a new generative AI video editing feature, now available on the Meta AI app, website, and the Edits app. The tool is aimed at simplifying video editing for users without professional experience, allowing them to transform short-form videos using a selection of pre-set AI prompts. The launch is part of Meta's broader effort to integrate AI-driven content creation tools across its platforms. Inspired by its Movie Gen models, the current offering allows users to apply a variety of transformations to 10-second segments of their videos. The edits can alter elements such as clothing, location, and visual style, offering an accessible entry point for personal and creative video customisation. Users can upload videos directly through the Meta AI app, Edits app, or the website. From there, they can choose from over 50 prompts to apply to their video clip. The transformation options range from stylised effects—like converting footage into a graphic novel or vintage comic book—to atmospheric changes, such as turning a gloomy outdoor scene into a dreamy, soft-focus visual complete with sparkles and colour filters. Another preset allows for a gaming-inspired transformation, adding video game-style visuals and character designs, including neon lighting and battle-themed outfits. The edits are rendered by Meta AI and made available for free for a limited time, although users can only transform up to ten seconds per video during the trial period. Once edited, videos can be shared directly to Meta's social platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, via the Edits and Meta AI apps. The web version also allows for publishing to the Discover feed, expanding the reach of user-generated content within Meta's ecosystem. The company says it has collaborated with content creators to develop prompt styles that resonate with digital audiences. The tool is being positioned not only as a creative outlet for casual users but also as a production aid for social media influencers and video creators looking to streamline their workflows. Available in the United States and more than a dozen other countries, the feature marks Meta's initial foray into consumer-facing AI video editing. According to the company, more advanced functionality is planned for later this year, including the ability to customise video edits using free-form text prompts.
