Hamburg mayor: Patients discharged after train station stabbing
Hamburg Mayor Peter Tschentscher on Saturday said some of the people injured in the stabbing at the northern German city's central train station have been released from hospital.
"It is a great relief. I hope they recover well and wish them and their families a lot of strength," Tschentscher wrote on the social media platform X.
Tschentscher did not give an exact number for how many of the injured have been released.
According to the police, 18 people were injured in the knife attack on Friday.
By Saturday afternoon, the police had already given the all-clear for the four critically injured victims.
They are now all in a stable condition, police said.

To the editor: I'm getting tired of explaining to people that a couple of dozen idiots turned a peaceful protest into a media event frenzy by turning violent ('Who's telling the truth? Searching for a shared reality amid L.A. protests,' June 10). But, after living in L.A. for nearly 30 years, I can honestly say I've seen more chaos at celebrations when the Dodgers or Lakers win. And no one suggests bringing in the National Guard and Marines. In the meantime, masked ICE thugs are throwing innocent citizens into vans and carting them off. President Trump promised to clear the U.S. of violent criminals. But this seems to have manifested as seamstresses, car wash attendants and farmworkers, who have been here for 10-plus years, and who have legal children here, being treated as violent offenders in order to meet his quotas. If you've ever seen photos of 1930s German soldiers throwing Jews into trains to be carted off and you don't see the similarities, then you're just lying to yourself. Seven arrests were in connection with smash-and-grab incidents at two stores. A Metro bus in Echo Park was set on fire and a downtown store was looted. The Los Angeles Police Department declared four unlawful assemblies and used less-lethal munitions to control hostile crowds. Mayor Karen Bass said violence will not be tolerated. Was this a radical left-wing mob engaged in insurrection? No, what I just described was a 'celebration' by sports fans on Oct. 31, 2024, following the Dodgers' World Series victory. German activist hailed at Berlin airport after Israeli deportation
A German activist whose attempt to sail to Gaza was intercepted by Israel was welcomed home with loud cheers at Berlin airport on Thursday. Yasemin Acar was on board the Madleen alongside other prominent figures such as Greta Thunberg when it was diverted to Israel on Monday by military forces. She was deported back to Germany, where she was met by a dense crowd of people carrying Palestinian flags and scarves amid chants of "Freedom for Palestine" and "Freedom for Yasemin." In a press conference at the airport, Acar accused Israel of kidnapping the crew members of the Madleen in international waters. "We will not stop," Acar said. "We will come back until we stop the siege." Acar is known to the police for her public appearances and anti-Israel slogans. The reception at the airport was chaotic as people crowded around the activist, with one man lifting her onto his shoulder. Police estimated that at least 100 people were there. The activist group had set sail from Sicily in early June, seeking to bring humanitarian aid such as baby food and medical supplies to civilians in the Gaza Strip, while drawing international attention to the critical humanitarian situation.
