Storm Center PM Update: Trying to Rebound Later This Week

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — A frigid start to the day gave way to an equally cold afternoon across KELOLAND.
Another round of cold weather advisories are in place already. A cold weather advisory is in effect until 12 pm CST/11 am MST Wednesday for all our our counties along the SD/ND border as well as northwestern South Dakota. Be prepared for wind chill values dropping near and below -30 degrees at times.
It'll be another cold day on Wednesday, but we do try to get the cold to ease off a bit as we head into the end of the work and school week. It won't be overly warm by any stretch, but 20s and even some 30s are possible by the end of the week.
Don't get used to it, as cold temperatures return for President's Day Weekend and even a bit beyond as well. As we head toward the tail end of February, we do try to get the cold to ease off again. Though odds for below average temperatures are favored, it isn't by the same amount as it has been in recent days.
In terms of active weather, we do get a few chances here and there as we go through the next seven days…though not everyone will see something each time. For example, Wednesday's chance for snow is for southeastern KELOLAND…especially near and southeast of Sioux Falls. This comes as low pressure tries to clip the region as it moves into Iowa.
We aren't looking at too much snow out of this in Sioux Falls, but a few inches are possible in a line from Yankton to Spencer.
Friday into Saturday has another chance for some snow showers that move through the area. We're looking at inch or less type snow from this in many areas. Monday is the next chances, and once again we'll have lower end accumulations in the cards (Inch or less).
Here's a look at your extended forecast:

Intermittent clearing of coastal clouds with warm temperatures inland

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Get comfortable with a mostly cloudy coast and warmer weather inland as temperatures aren't expected to change much over the next few days. As of Wednesday afternoon, clouds are clearing gradually from east to west, making way for blue skies and sunshine in our inland areas but still mostly cloudy at the immediate coast. Temperatures are going to hold steady for the next few days with a rinse and repeat forecast most days. Heading into the weekend, high pressure builds from the southern U.S. and will warm temperatures up in time for Father's Day. Beaches will get mostly cloudy to partly cloudy afternoons with more sunshine on tap for the end of the weekend. Daytime highs for the coast will range in the upper 60s to low 70s through Friday with upper 70s to low 80s for valleys, mid-80s for the mountains and just shy of 110 degrees for the deserts. By the weekend, the temperature will warm up five to ten degrees warmer than normal for inland communities. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. PHOTOS: Crews battle Rowena Fire in Wasco County near I-84

PORTLAND, Ore. () — Fire crews are responding to the Rowena Fire, a brush fire that sparked Wednesday afternoon near Interstate 84 in Wasco County. The fire at Milepost 78 was first reported around 1:38 p.m., according to authorities. The size of the fire was initially unclear; however, officials have issued and shut down traffic on I-84 between The Dalles and Mosier (Milepost 64-82), according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The fire also led Oregon Governor Tina Kotek to issue the Emergency Conflagration Act to access more resources to fight the fire. 'This early season conflagration should come as a reminder to Oregonians to be ready for wildfire,' State Fire Marshal Mariana Ruiz-Temple said. 'The predictions for this summer are extremely concerning. I am asking everyone to take that extra minute to be mindful of the conditions and remember it takes a single spark to ignite a disaster.' This is a developing story. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
