"He holds his position only because he's Lalu Yadav's son": Prashant Kishor slams Tejashwi Yadav
Patna (Bihar) [India], June 26 (ANI): Jan Suraaj Party Chief Prashant Kishor criticised former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, questioning his political credentials and claiming that he owes his position entirely to his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Kishor said that Tejashwi Yadav lacks an independent political identity and credibility. He further emphasised that without his father's name, Tejashwi would have no significant identity.
'Tejashwi Yadav is Lalu Yadav's son. Whatever Tejashwi is, it's because of Lalu Yadav. If Lalu Yadav's name is not there, what is his identity for you?' he asked, taking a dig at Tejashwi.
Kishor argued that Tejashwi's position is solely due to his lineage, not his achievements or merit. He pointed out that there are many youth leaders in the Yadav Samaj who have more potential than Tejashwi.
'You said Tejashwi Yadav is a youth leader. There are a lot of youth leaders. Yadav Samaj has a lot more youth leaders than him. But the foundation on which he is now is not there because he has achieved something. He's in position only because he's Lalu Yadav's son.'
Kishor highlighted that RJD supremo Lalu Yadav's popularity has significantly decreased over the years. He won the election only once in 1995 on his own, and his MP count has been declining since then.
'Lalu Yadav won the election only once in 1995 on his own. And he won when he was seen as the leader of the poor. After that, when he became the leader of the backwards, his MP count decreased to 20-25. When he became the leader of Yadav, it decreased to 10-12. Now he is the leader of RJD Yadav, so his count is 2-4-5,' Kishor told ANI.
Kishor, who has been tirelessly walking through Bihar's hinterlands as part of his ambitious outreach, challenged Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, questioning his commitment to Bihar and accusing him of token gestures rather than genuine political engagement.
He challenged Rahul Gandhi to spend at least one night in a Bihari village to prove his connection to the state's grassroots
'Rahul ji keeps coming and going here, but doesn't really undertake any Yatra. If Rahul Gandhi has ever spent even one night in a village in Bihar, let us know. If he can spend just one night in a village, we'll accept it,' he said.
'Tum Delhi mein bethkar Bihariyo ke naam par haste ho aur yaha bethkar gyan dete ho (You sit in Delhi, laugh at Biharis then come here to lecture us)' Kishor said.
His remarks came after political heat intensified in Bihar ahead of the forthcoming Assembly Polls.
In the current Bihar Assembly of 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, HAM(S)-4, with the support of 2 Independent Candidates.
The Opposition's INDIA Bloc has a strength of 111 members with RJD leading with 77 MLAs, Congress-19, CPI(ML)-11, CPI(M)-2 and CPI-2. (ANI)

India criticises Bangladesh for demolition of Durga temple in Dhaka
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has criticised Bangladesh's interim government for 'allowing the destruction' of a Durga temple in Dhaka and for portraying the incident as a case of 'illegal land use'. The MEA added that it was 'dismayed' by the recurrence of such events in the country. Interim government 'responsible for protecting Hindus' When asked about the demolition of the Durga temple in Bangladesh at the weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We understand that extremists were clamouring for demolishing the Durga temple in Khilkhet, Dhaka." 'The interim government, instead of providing security to the temple, projected the episode as illegal land use and they allowed the destruction of the temple today. This has resulted in damage to the deity before it was shifted,' he added. 'We are dismayed that such incidents continue to recur in Bangladesh. Let me underline that it is the responsibility of the interim government of Bangladesh to protect Hindus, their properties and religious institutions,' Jaiswal said. Authorities cite encroachment as reason for temple demolition Authorities from Bangladesh Railway, assisted by police and military personnel, demolished a temporary Durga temple in Dhaka's Khilkhet area on Thursday, according to news agency ANI. The demolition occurred three days after a mob reportedly demanded the temple's removal. Railway authorities stated that the Khilkhet Sarbojanin Shri Shri Durga Mandir was demolished as it had been built illegally on railway land. The decision of the authorities has been condemned by several minority organisations, alleging that the authorities demolished the temple without giving prior notice. Bangladesh's interim government on December 10 last year said that 70 people had been arrested in 88 cases related to attacks against minorities in the country. India-Bangladesh ties Relations between the two countries have been strained after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government, with India alleging that religious minorities in Bangladesh have faced increased threats. Dhaka, on the other hand, has dismissed India's account as 'exaggerated".

No dispute in Mahagathbandhan on Tejashwi being CM face: Kanhaiya Kumar
Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Friday said if the ' Mahagathbandhan ' gets a majority in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, the chief minister will be from the RJD, and added that there was "no confusion or dispute" over Tejashwi Yadav being the main face for the CM's post. Kanhaiya Kumar, however, asserted that issues would be paramount in the polls and there was "a conspiracy" by rivals to divert attention by raking up the matter of the coalition's CM face. Claiming that as soon as the BJP gets a chance it will remove Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and replace him with its own leader in Bihar, Kumar alleged that the BJP is following its standard template -- to first take the support of a regional party and then "slowly swallow it". In an interview with PTI, he claimed that "winds of change" are stronger than in the last assembly polls in Bihar and the BJP is not raking up Operation Sindoor as a poll plank because it knows that the people of Bihar will respond negatively to it as they believe it to be a matter of the country's honour and no party should politicise it. Explaining the dynamics of the 'Mahagathbandhan' and rejecting the notion of senior and junior partners, Kumar said, "If you look at a car, the clutch is as important as the brake and the rearview mirror." "It is true that the RJD is the bigger party, has more MLAs, it provides leadership to the 'Mahagathbandhan', they have the post of leader of the opposition. Naturally, it is their responsibility. "But all the constituent parties - now Mukesh Sahani of the Vikassheel Insaan Party is also part of the 'Mahagathbandhan' - everyone has their own role," said Kumar, who is among the most prominent faces of the Congress in Bihar," he said. Asked how many seats the Congress will contest in the polls, Kumar said every party of the 'Mahagathbandhan', even the Congress, will contest on all 243 seats as a unit. "The RJD, the Congress, Left parties and Sahani ji's party will all contest on 243 seats together. If the alliance is natural and issue-based, then it is not a matter of our and your seats. We will all contest the elections together. Whoever has a bigger responsibility will fulfil it and whoever has a smaller responsibility, it is also important to discharge that," Kumar said. "If there is a pinch of salt less, the food will be tasteless and if there is a pinch of salt more, the food will not taste good. So everyone will play their role," he added. On whether RJD's Tejashwi Yadav was the top contender for the post of chief minister if the 'Mahagathbandhan' comes to power, Kumar said, "There is no doubt about it. The public decides who will become the chief minister. The one who has the numbers will become the chief minister. "Naturally, the RJD will contest on more seats and will win more seats. It will have the numbers and naturally, it will have a claim to the post of the chief minister, there is no doubt about this," he said. It will happen automatically as per the process and there is no confusion on this in the alliance, Kumar said, adding that instead, there is confusion in the NDA ranks as to whether Nitish Kumar will be the CM face or not, and which party will contest how many seats. He said people's issues are important for the election and there is an attempt to divert from those issues by repeatedly raising questions on the CM face. "This is a conspiracy which we understand. There is no confusion and no doubt that the chief minister will be from the bigger party, it will be done automatically as part of the process. But what is important in the polls, are issues and not the face," Kumar told PTI. Pressed further on the matter, the Congress leader said there was no doubt or dispute in the Mahagathbandhan on Tejashwi being its main CM face. "There is absolute clarity on by one things are happening in the 'Mahagathbandhan' as part of the process. A media group has been formed by all the parties, a manifesto committee has been formed, all the parties will decide the seats together. "After the election, when the public will give a majority to the 'Mahagathbandhan', the RJD will contest more seats and win more, the chief minister will also be from that party," Kanhaiya Kumar said. On speculation over Nitish Kumar's health and the BJP's strategy going forward, the Congress leader alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is an expert in finding "opportunities in disaster (aapda mein awsar)". "See what happened in Maharashtra. He brought (Eknath) Shinde ji from the Shiv Sena and made him the chief minister. Then he removed him and made his own person the CM. It is not that he is trying this when Nitish ji is ill, he has tried it earlier also. "For the last several decades, the BJP has wanted to do the same thing in Bihar which it has been successful in doing in Uttar Pradesh. That means, first take the support of a regional party and then slowly swallow it," he said. The BJP has been trying to do this continuously in Bihar but has failed, he claimed. "They are helpless that they cannot push Nitish ji behind.... This is an alliance of opportunities for power. As soon as the BJP gets a chance, they will remove Nitish ji and bring their own face. They are continuously attempting to do that," he said. Exuding confidence that the 'Mahagathbandhan' would get a clear majority, Kumar said issues of unemployment, migration, education, farmers, rigging in examinations, and poor health infrastructure are paramount. Kumar claimed that he expects the people to vote for change as the government is now being run by bureaucrats in a "dictatorial manner". In the last assembly polls, the RJD, the largest constituent of the 'Mahagathbandhan', contested 144 seats and won 75 seats in the 243-seat assembly. The Congress had contested 70 seats, but it won only 19 seats. The CPI (ML) Liberation contested 19 seats and won 12 as part of the alliance. The Bihar Assembly polls are likely to take place around October-November.

'Can He Spend One Night In Bihar Village': Prashant Kishor Dares Rahul Gandhi
Patna: As the political heat intensifies in Bihar ahead of the forthcoming Assembly polls, Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor targeted Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, questioning his commitment to Bihar and accusing him of token gestures rather than genuine political engagement. In an interview with ANI, Mr Kishor, who has been tirelessly walking through Bihar's hinterlands as part of his ambitious outreach, challenged Mr Gandhi to spend even one night in a Bihar village to prove his connection to the state's grassroots. "Rahul ji keeps coming and going here, but doesn't really undertake any Yatra. If Rahul Gandhi has ever spent even one night in a village in Bihar, let us know. If he can spend just one night in a village, we'll accept it," he said. "Tum Delhi mein bethkar Bihariyo ke naam par haste ho aur yaha bethkar gyan dete ho (You sit in Delhi, laugh at Biharis then come here to lecture us)" Mr Kishor said. He also hit out at Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his remarks about Bihari people, demanding an apology and slamming Congress for what he described as years of neglect and disrespect toward the people of Bihar. "In Telangana, their Chief Minister is Revanth Reddy, it's been two years since he became CM. Before that, he was in the TDP (Telugu Desam Party), and before that, he was in the RSS and the BJP. After becoming Chief Minister, he officially stated that doing labour is in the DNA of Biharis. Biharis are born to do labour work. Why did he say this? Because most of his rival KCR's officers had a Bihar background. So he was implying that Telangana is in a bad state because Biharis are running it. And to justify that, he added another statement saying it's in Biharis' DNA to do labour, and that's why KCR appointed them as bureaucrats," Mr Kishor said. "Aap Bihariyo ko kehte ho ki vo paida hue hai mazduri karne ke liye aur phir yaha aakar bada-bada gyan doge (You say Biharis are born to do labour work, and then come here and preach to us?" he asserted. Further, the Jan Suraaj Chief recalled that the then Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, in 1989, said he would make Bihar a development hub. "Where did that money go? Congress remained in power afterwards, so tell us, what did you do for Bihar?" he asked. "If Congress apologised for the injustice done to Sikhs, then Rahul Gandhi should apologise to Biharis as well before campaigning in Bihar. If Biharis are only born for labour, then why are you coming here? Just go campaign in Telangana and get your votes there," Mr Kishor said. On being asked how many seats Congress will secure in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, Mr Kishor said that it will depend upon "Lalu ji's charity." "Congress has no real existence in Bihar. For the past 25-30 years, it's been a party that just carries Lalu ji's bag. If Rahul Gandhi truly has political strength, let him contest elections in Bihar on his own. Try demanding 40% of the seats from Lalu ji and see what happens. In Bihar, Congress dances to Lalu ji's tune. Whatever he decides, that's what happens," he said. Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet announced the dates. While the NDA, consisting of the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will once again be looking to continue their stint in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, consisting of the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will be looking to unseat Nitish Kumar. Mr Kishor has presented his party, Jan Suraaj, as another alternative in the state.
