he centre will come up on government land near Rajaram Lake, accessible via both the new and old Pune-Bengaluru highways. Spread over 2 lakh sq m, with a built-up area of one lakh sq ft, the facility will include an auditorium, banquet hall, art gallery, amphitheatre, cafeteria, and seating for 2,000 people.
The project cost is estimated at Rs252 crore, with Rs50 crore already sanctioned by the state in Jan.
Shiv Sena MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar said, "The construction of the centre will be completed before the set deadline. It will help various associations and corporate companies to hold their meetings and functions."

SATIS-2 project in Thane (E) will be completed by end September, said Sena (UBT) former MP
Thane: The ambitious second Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) project under the Smart City initiative for Thane (E) will be completed by the end of September, Shiv Sena (UBT) former MP Rajan Vichare informed following an interaction with municipal officials. This will help reduce traffic congestion around Thane (E) station soon," said Vichare following a project site visit along with officials early this week. Officials added that although the elevated route of the SATIS-2 will be completed in the next two months, operating the road will take a few more months as the work on the elevated bus deck outside the east station side is yet to be completed. "The work on constructing the deck is progressing, and we have set December end as the target for its opening. Unless the deck is completed and connected to the elevated roads and with the railway bridges at the station, the SATIS-2 project cannot be made operational. Once opened, it will reduce the time taken to travel between Teen Haath Naka and Thane station east to barely five minutes," informed a civic official. The project was approved in 2018 and was included under the Smart City scheme. The foundation stone for the SATIS-2 deck was laid on February 19, 2022, and the work has been progressing in phases. A budget of Rs 298 crore was sanctioned— Rs 261 crore for the project and Rs 39 crore for the portion of the bridge running over the railway tracks. Around 59 pillars have been erected on this route, but the installation of girders was delayed due to a lack of follow-up with the railways for obtaining mega blocks, said Vichare.

Minister's family running dance bar under mother's name gives up licence
Mumbai: Following allegations that the minister of state for home, Yogesh Kadam, was running a dance bar with a licence in his mother's name, the Kadam family reportedly surrendered the orchestra licence of Savali bar in Kandivli on Friday. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab criticised the licence surrender, stating it proves his allegations were right and that a dance bar with immoral activities was being operated by the Kadam family for years. Demanding Kadam's resignation, Parab argued that just because a thief returns stolen goods, he cannot be let off. "Yogesh Kadam must resign on moral grounds, but it seems the CM is helpless and can't take action against him. The law was broken by the MoS home, who is supposed to be the protector of the law," Parab said. Kadam did not respond to calls and texts from TOI on Friday. Parab on Friday demanded action against Kadam, warning that if the CM does not take action, it will be assumed that he too is shielding dance bars. "The MoS home, who is the protector of the law, is trampling the law. It's a pity that the CM can't take action and is helpless. It's not too late. I have already given all the evidence to the CM. So far, there is no action on the licence holder. The police are under political pressure. So first, Yogesh Kadam must resign; otherwise, this will show the CM is helpless. Road digging without PWD nod to be banned to curb accidents: Goa CM Pramod Sawant
Porvorim: Underscoring the state's road safety crisis, chief minister Pramod Sawant said that the current road accident fatality rate exceeds that of Covid-19. 'People would stay at home for the fear of Covid-19 when one to two people lost their lives every day,' Sawant told the House. 'Now, on an average, two people die in road accidents in Goa every day.' Replying to the calling attention motion on rising accidents, the CM said that state govt will soon impose a 100% ban on road digging without prior permission from the PWD. A circular to this effect will be issued shortly, he said. The calling attention motion was moved by MLAs Vijai Sardesai, Carlos Ferreira, Viresh Borkar, Venzy Viegas, Yuri Alemao, Cruz Silva, and Altone D'Costa. The motion pointed to the rising number of fatal accidents attributed to poor road maintenance despite Supreme Court directives and state govt orders. Sawant acknowledged that nearly 50% of accidents in Goa are due to poor road conditions and signal issues, with a lack of coordination among departments being a primary reason. 'Roads repaired by one agency are often dug up soon after by another,' he said. To address this issue, Sawant said govt will recover road digging and repair costs from contractors who proceed without the PWD's permission. The chief minister also announced that utility ducts for cabling and piping works will be made mandatory during the construction of major roads, a measure aimed at preventing repeated digging. Sawant said that stress will be laid on strengthening road engineering to improve construction standards. A specialised team has been formed to identify accident-prone black spots across the state, enabling targeted interventions in high-risk areas, he said. Govt has already taken several initiatives in compliance with the guidelines of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety, Sawant said. He said these include the restoration of crash barriers, construction of standardised speed breakers, implementation of speed limits, installation of traffic signboards and road markings, and median plantation projects. He said show-cause notices have been issued to defaulting contractors, with rectification work being carried out at contractors' expense during the defect liability period.
