Naperville Riverwalk shoreline stabilization project resumes
Naperville Park District's efforts to stablize the eroding Riverwalk shoreline along the area between Jefferson Avenue and the Jaycees playground have resumed.
The project began in late 2024 and is expected to be completed in the summer, district officials said. Invasive and declining trees and shrubs were taken out this winter and stone breaks to deflect water from hitting the shoreline installed, officials said.
The last phase of work calls for more stone breaks to be put in place and native landscapting planted.
Sections of the Riverwalk may be temporarily closed during the work, officials said.

NaperVoice, featuring 35 professional and volunteer singers from more than 20 Chicago-area communities, will present a spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville.
'Singing More Superpowers: American Composers Explore Humanity's Highest Qualities' will feature the themes are hope, courage and love as reflected in contemporary American pieces from such composers as Moses Hogan, Christopher Tin, Andrea Ramsey, Mac Huff and Philip Spencer, organizers said.
The featured work will be 'Considering Matthew Shepard: A Choral Suite' by Craig Hella Johnson. Tristan Ramos, a recent graduate of Elmhurst University, will be the conducting intern.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit 360 Youth Services, a Naperville nonprofit that provides substance use prevention education, counseling and housing.
Tickets, including fees, are $21.50 for adults, $16.50 for seniors, and $6 for children 13 and older. They are available at www.napervoice.org.
Naperville's American Legion Post 43 sponsoring free camps
Area high school juniors entering their senior year this fall can participate in free summer camps at Eastern Illinois University sponsored by American Legion Post 43 in Naperville.
The Illinois Premier Boys State and Illini Girls State programs help prepare students to become future leaders through activities such as mock government sessions and civic education workshops. Participants gain leadership skills, critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of democracy in a nonpartisan manner, an American Legion Post 43 news release said.
The programs are free and offer opportunities for scholarships. The boys program runs from June 7 to 13 and the girls program from June 15 to 21.
Participants need to note Post 43 Naperville as their sponsoring organization. The deadline to apply is May 16.

Naive American tourist hilariously falls for ‘genius' London restaurant prank: ‘Talk about a mis-steak'

This American tourist got served — in more ways than one. Liam Nelson, a New York comedian in London for a gig, thought he'd sniffed out a hidden culinary standout when he stumbled across glowing online reviews for Angus Steakhouse in Leicester Square. But what did he actually find? A side of steak with a supersized helping of British sarcasm. 'I went on Reddit, every single response was Angus Steakhouse in Leicester Square,' Nelson said in a June 1 TikTok video, captioned 'Talk about a mis-steak…,' which quickly racked up over 127,000 views. 'I thought maybe this is a little hole-in-the-wall area next to all these shops, like a secret hidden gem.' Turns out, he was the latest victim of a long-running British prank — London Redditors have been 'love bombing' tourist-trap chains like Angus with five-star reviews to keep real foodies away from the city's actual best eateries, as reported by The Daily Mail. 'I found an article about how London Reddit has tried to send tourists to Angus Steakhouse to preserve the good steakhouses for themselves — genius,' he said in his nearly six-minute clip. 'I have never seen Reddit all agree on a restaurant before,' Nelson added. 'And they all had these glowing reviews … Some voice in the back of my head was saying 'this is wrong, this is not normal' and I ignored it.' Not exactly a red flag he picked up on — until it was too late. The joint, he soon discovered, was actually 'loud,' 'chaotic' and came with a 'giant neon sign.' A New York funnyman thought he found a sizzling hidden gem in London — until a juicy twist at Angus Steakhouse left a bad taste. WD Stock Photos – Then came the gray slab of steak. 'It was bad. I tried the creamed spinach — worse than frozen somehow. London Reddit, that is one for you, zero for me.' Fellow TikTokkers had a field day with the viral video. 'As a London Redditor who actively takes part in this joke; I'm not sorry,' one user gloated beneath Nelson's clip. Another added, 'Hahaha I'm glad it actually got someone,' while someone else summed it up with, 'WE GOT ONE.' Others offered redemption suggestions in the comments section: 'Go Flat Iron, it's in Covent Garden, affordable decent steak,' and 'Next time you're in London, get a steak at the Guinea Grill Pub in Mayfair! Incredible steakhouse.' Turns out, Nelson got played — locals have been flooding tourist-trap chains like Angus with five-star reviews in a cheeky bid to steer foodies far from the real gems. Tiktok/liamnelsoncomedy The whole beefy debacle comes amid rising tension between real reviews and fake raves — a trend The Post has covered before. Earlier this year, a Florida restaurant tried — and failed — to sue a customer over a one-star review. Irene Eng, a prolific Yelp and TripAdvisor reviewer, was slapped with a defamation lawsuit by Hales Blackbrick, a Chinese eatery in Tampa, after calling its spare ribs 'dry' and its coffee 'lukewarm — a Cardinal sin!!' The suit was tossed in February, with the judge siding with Eng's First Amendment rights. 'I'm 1,000% for freedom of speech — you can say whatever you want,' chef Richard Hales later told the Tampa Bay Times. 'We're not thin-skinned, we're just humans.' Still, the great steak debate rages on. And for now, Nelson's just hoping his next meal won't be medium-rare — or medium-roasted by the internet.

Sabrina Carpenter Hitchhikes Through Mayhem in 'Manchild' Music Video: Watch

The post Sabrina Carpenter Hitchhikes Through Mayhem in 'Manchild' Music Video: Watch appeared first on Consequence. Sabrina Carpenter has revealed the official music video for her new song, 'Manchild.' Directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, the video takes place primarily on the road in the American west. It finds Carpenter hitchhiking and ending up in a variety of scenes and situations ranging from the mundane to the absurd, with dozens of different costumes and looks to match. Get Sabrina Carpenter Tickets Here Throughout, Carpenter ends up in (or around) multiple different vehicles (like a jetski-converted car, an electric mobile chair, a shopping cart sidecar, and a car with trees growing on top), shoots pool with a shotgun, runs with a puppy from gunfire, smokes a cigarette at a gas station while her driver douses himself in gasoline, hitches a ride by roller skating and grabbing onto a massive truck, takes a bubble path with two pigs, and gets in all sorts of crazy spats with the men she encounters on the road. When it ends, she ditches her ride, sticks her thumb back up, and grabs the next available vehicle. Watch the official video below. Carpenter's 'Manchild' arrives as a standalone single after the deluxe release of her 2024 album Short n' Sweet arrived in February. The single is being pressed on a clear transparent 7-inch vinyl along with a B-side called 'inside of your head when you've just won an argument with a man.' She teased both the single and its music video earlier this week, posting a short clip of her hitchhiking with the caption, 'this one's about you!!' Carpenter is also heading on tour this summer and fall, with headlining sets to come at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and this weekend's Primavera Sound.
