In connection with the matter, a notice was first issued to him by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sambhal, on December 5 last year.
Barq is accused of constructing a house in the Deepa Sarai area of Sambhal without obtaining approval for the building plan.
Sambhal (UP), Jun 19 (PTI) The court of SDM Sambhal, after hearing arguments in a case of alleged illegal construction by Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur Rahman Barq, on Thursday scheduled the next hearing for June 26, officials said.
Several subsequent notices have followed, the most recent hearing having been held on June 12.
According to the officials, a hearing was scheduled on Thursday at the court of SDM Sambhal, Vikas Chandra.
While Barq did not appear in person, his legal counsel submitted his arguments.
Talking to reporters, SDM Chandra said the case is being heard under Section 10 of the Uttar Pradesh Regulation of Buildings Act, 1958.
He stated that a building plan was submitted by another party, Mamlukur Rahman, during a previous hearing.
A technical assessment of the plan was to be conducted by the assistant town planner from Moradabad, whose report has now been received by the court, he said.
The court has decided to issue a reminder and a formal letter to acquire the final technical report. The next hearing in the matter will be held on June 26, Chandra added. PTI COR ABN ABN KVK KVK

Bihar elections: Congress ramps up reservation pitch ahead of PM Modi's visit; alleges NDA has ‘given up' on 65% quota push

File photo: Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh (Picture credit: PTI) NEW DELHI: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Bihar to launch key development projects ahead of assembly elections, the Congress on Friday sharpened its attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, alleging that it has 'all but given up' on the proposed 65 per cent reservation for SCs, STs, OBCs and EBCs. The policy, rooted in findings from the caste survey conducted under the erstwhile INDIA-bloc, is currently under judicial review. Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh, in a post on X, proposed a three-pronged legislative approach to safeguard the reservation framework. 'The double-engine Govt in Bihar has all but given up,' Ramesh claimed. 'But there are three ways out that the INC has been demanding for long that will make the 65 per cent reservations a reality,' he added. Ramesh outlined the party's proposals. First, making the Bihar reservation law part of the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, as was done in 1994 by the Narasimha Rao government to protect Tamil Nadu's 69 per cent quota. Second, he called for a constitutional amendment to bypass the Supreme Court-imposed 50 per cent ceiling on reservations. Third, he pushed for the implementation of Article 15(5), which allows for reservation in private educational institutions, a provision upheld by the apex court but left unimplemented for over a decade. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Confidence packed. Wrinkles left behind. Philips Garment Steamers Book Now Undo 'This has been unimplemented in the past 11 years after the Supreme Court upheld the Constitutional amendment introduced by Dr Manmohan Singh's government in 2006,' Ramesh pointed out. He further said the Congress would 'most definitely' raise these 'issues of fundamental importance to social justice and empowerment' during the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament beginning July 21. The remarks come as PM Modi is in Siwan, Bihar, where he is set to inaugurate multiple infrastructure projects, including the new Vaishali–Deoria railway line worth over Rs 400 crore and a new train service. His visit also includes stops in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, with a mass yoga event scheduled in Bhubaneswar to mark International Yoga Day. The Congress has increasingly tied its reservation pitch to the broader caste-based census framework, demanding immediate legislative action. The move signals the party's intent to double down on social justice narratives ahead of the state polls due in October. Congress leaders have also linked their call for implementing Article 15(5) to the broader agenda of extending affirmative action into the private sector for marginalised communities.

Kuki flight attendant's body reaches Manipur days after Air India tragedy, funeral likely today

The mortal remains of 28-year-old Lamnunthem Singson, a Kuki cabin crew member who died in the Air India Ahmedabad plane crash on June 12, reached her hometown in Manipur's Kangpokpi district late Thursday night. Her funeral is likely to be held today, according to family members. 'Normally, we (the Kuki people) don't hold last rites at night. Most likely it will be held tomorrow. Today, there will be prayer sessions and other traditional funeral-related programmes,' a cousin of Singson told news agency PTI. Singson was among the 241 passengers and crew aboard Air India Flight AI 171, which crashed just seconds after takeoff. Her body was flown from Ahmedabad to Dimapur airport in Nagaland on an IndiGo flight and received by grieving family members, community leaders, and officials. On the way to Kangpokpi by road, the convoy paused briefly in Kohima, where members of the Kuki Union Kohima and Kuki Mothers' Association paid floral tributes. Earlier in the day, a solemn reception was held at Dimapur airport where representatives from multiple organisations gathered to honour the deceased and offer condolences to her family. Singson originally hailed from Old Lambulane colony in Imphal but had relocated to Kangpokpi in 2023 after ethnic violence erupted between the Meitei and Kuki communities. Another cabin crew member from Manipur, 21-year-old Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma from Thoubal district, who belonged to the Meitei community, also died in the crash. Her mortal remains are yet to arrive in the state. Despite ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur, the tragedy has prompted a rare moment of unity across communities. Civil society groups from both Kuki and Meitei backgrounds have joined in mourning the loss of the two young women.
