People Are Praising Naomi Watts For Being So Honest About Her Experience Having Sex With Billy Crudup For The First Time While Going Through Menopause
Naomi Watts has never shied away from being as open and honest as possible when it comes to sharing elements of her personal life with the public.
And now she's taken it a step further with her new book, Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I'd Known About Menopause. In the book, which was released on January 21. She details what it was like trying to start a family at the age of 36, while also being told she was perimenopausal.
To celebrate the book's release, Naomi took part in a conversation on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she joined Drew, actor Brooke Shields, OBGYN Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz, and psychiatrist Dr. Judith Joseph to discuss menopause journeys.
Brooke recently released a book titled Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman, which also details aging in the public eye.
On the panel, Naomi explained she went and saw her doctor at age 36 after she was having trouble getting pregnant. It was then that her doctor told her, "It looks like you are close to menopause." She said it felt "extremely early" and "shocking" to hear that, especially while trying to start a family.
"It created such panic in me," she added.
According to the Mayo Clinic, menopause can happen in the 40s or 50s. In the United States, the average age for a woman to begin menopause is 51.
Then, she remembered that her mom had gone into early menopause at 45. When Naomi asked her mom, "What is this? Why didn't you tell me more?" Her mom replied, "Well, these were the conversations that I didn't have with my mother, so I never had them with you."
She continued, "It was no blame on her. It was just the societal message that was passed from generation to generation that we suffer in silence."
Naomi explained that she was ultimately able to conceive naturally, but after her second child at 40 years old, she went "hardcore" into menopause symptoms.
She shares both children with her ex-partner Liev Schreiber.
Outside of the panel discussion, Naomi was also a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she and Drew got to talk more one-on-one about her new book and menopause journey.
In the clip posted to TikTok, Naomi discusses her first sexual encounter with her now-husband, Billy Crudup, while going through menopause.
"I'm not going to embarrass him and talk about it in depth on live TV, but there is a chapter where I explore it and go into detail, but I was mortified because I had my patch on," Naomi began.

She explained that the adhesive on the patches is typically "very sticky" and "takes ages to get off." This resulted in her often leaving the "nasty mark" left by the adhesive on her body because it was so hard to scrub off.
Naomi continued, saying that before getting intimate with her now-husband for the first time, she ran off to the bathroom and "panicked," trying to get the sticky residue left behind by a few patches off her body.
"I was in there too long and then came out sort of like that, frantic, and he said, 'Are you okay? Are you not in the mood?'," she recalled.
She said she fumbled for what to say before revealing, "Look, I'm in menopause, and I have this patch, and I'm wearing it, and it leaves this… I'm old, should I just leave?"
Naomi said she was trying so hard to apologize and "shrinking" into herself before Billy finally said, "We're the same age. We're the same age. What is this? This is science. How can I help?"
While the clip making the rounds online ends there, Naomi continued in the episode, saying, "Truth can be so liberating. People fear that when they get to this point that the sex is gonna be over, and for some it's true that your libido goes down. You can get support for things like that."
CBS
She concluded, saying, "But I say I just encourage women to get the communication going. Be honest. Tell them what you're going through. Most of the time, people wanna help."
Shortly after the clip was posted on TikTok, people flocked to the comments praising Naomi for having this open and vulnerable discussion in such a public setting. One user wrote, "I've NEVER Heard someone talk about the patch and how it affects us 😭😭😭 Thank you ❤️❤️❤️"

Another top comment reads, "I love when people open themselves and share experiences like this. it's so refreshing!"
And another added, "how beautiful. menopause is harder than people realize for many reasons. sometimes we just cry bc we are in it. my husband is very supportive. Support from loved ones helps so much."
One person wrote, "I'm old-should I just leave? is going to be my default response to all things going forward. 😂"
People began sharing their own experiences in the comments, too. One TikTok user wrote, "I'm 32 and in menopause. It scares me to date to explain this to someone." And another didn't even know the patches were a thing, writing, "I didn't know there was a patch??"
CBS / Via youtube.com
One person wrote, "The most realistic story of being in menopause."
Many also praised Billy for his response to Naomi in this situation, with the top comment on the video reading, "I have ALWAYS loved Billy Crudup."
Overall, this is such an important conversation that more women should feel comfortable having, and it's so refreshing to hear Naomi's experience.

Taylor Swift Sneakily Attended a Wedding With Travis Kelce in a Strapless Blue Dress
This week, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were guests at a backyard wedding in Tennessee and though all eyes were on the bride and groom, some pictures of the famous couple showed them having a romantic evening of their own. The dress code appeared to be summer casual and Swift fit in perfectly in a strapless blue dress with a small flower pattern, structured bodice, and flowing skirt that ended at her ankles. On her feet, she wore tan high-heeled sandals. The Eras Tour star had her hair half up and wore a bracelet and small pieces of jewelry for accessories. Kelce was wearing dress pants and a short-sleeved button-down shirt in brown. In a TikTok shared by creator @laurenelizabethduhhh, Swift and Kelce can be seen seated side-by-side at a long table, watching the newly wedded couple enjoy their first dance. Swift starts swaying to the music and Kelce joins her in a cute shared moment. Since the end of the NFL season in February, Swift and Kelce have been enjoying some quality time together out of the spotlight. This week, they were seen in Florida together, where Swift wore a classic little black dress to their dinner date. Just before the images of their date night started circulating, a source told Us Weekly that the two were keeping a low profile on purpose right now. 'They are making fewer public appearances together because [their relationship] brings too much unwanted attention, but there isn't trouble in paradise,' the insider explained. A second source shared that Swift has been living in both Miami, where Kelce has been training during his offseason, and New York: 'Taylor has been coming and going to Florida and is still spending a lot of her time in NYC.' And it appears she's making some special time for Tennessee.

These Broadway portraits were stolen from Sardi's restaurant
It's not easy being green. Of the nearly 1,000 celebrity caricatures on the walls of iconic theater-district institution Sardi's, the one pilfered the most, oddly, is Kermit the Frog. 'Kermit was stolen three times. And then we screwed him up to the wall,' Johnny Felidi, longtime maître d' at the 100-year-old eatery, told The Post ahead of Sunday's Tony Awards. Advertisement Another celebrity who had to be screwed at the beloved West 44th Street eatery: Barbra Streisand. After her original 1963 portrait was purloined, it took the 'Funny Girl' 55 years to agree to another caricature. 8 Kermit the Frog, who filmed a scene at Sardi's for 'The Muppets Take Manhattan,' had his caricature stolen three times. J.C. Rice Advertisement 'And you're gonna love what she wrote on it — 'Don't steal this one,'' said Felidi, who has worked at Sardi's for 26 years. 'Julie Andrews was another one that went missing for a long time and then it was allegedly found at an auction,' added receptionist Lydia DeLuca, who spent last summer updating the binder that lists every celeb's name and their location on three floors of the four-story restaurant. 8 Barbra Streisand also had her caricature taken off the wall, so she wrote 'Don't steal this one!' on her second portrait. Jeremy Wagner Bob Hope's was looted as well — and his thief, who was drinking at the bar, was captured on their security cameras. Advertisement 'So we got their credit card information, called them up . . . and of course they get belligerent. And we said, 'We don't want to have law enforcement involved, so just return the caricature.' And they did,' recalled Felidi, a native of Parma, Italy, who grew up in the Bronx. 8 Maître d Johnny Felidi has been at Sardi's for 26 years. J.C. Rice Due to all the star-snatching, the priceless portraits adorning the walls of Sardi's — where the idea for the Tonys was conceived over lunch — are now duplicates of the originals, which are stored in a safe. It wasn't until 1986, after the death of James Cagney, that founder Vincent Sardi decided to start using dupes. Advertisement 'The night he died, they stole his caricature, never to be seen again,' said Felidi. 8 George Clooney, who made his Broadway debut this year in 'Good Night, and Good Luck' had his Sardi's portrait unveiled in April. J.C. Rice The time-honored tradition started when Sardi hired Russian immigrant Alex Gard to create the portraits in the fledgling restaurant in exchange for meals in an attempt to 'drum up business.' Brooklyn native Richard Baratz, a former engraver for the treasury department, is now the artist behind the boldfaced names. 'That's why now you see tiny little lines in his work,' Felidi noted. 8 Denzel Washington, pictured here with his 'Othello' co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, had his Sardi's portrait revealed right before the Tony Awards. Getty Images This season, Baratz sketched the portraits of Broadway A-listers Nick Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Denzel Washington and George Clooney — nominated for a Tony for his debut on the Great White Way in 'Good Night, and Good Luck.' Legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has six Tonys and is nominated for another for 'Sunset Boulevard,' also went up this year, after a decade-long wait. Advertisement 'We've had his caricature ready and drawn. It was scheduling conflicts and so we never had our paths crossed enough to do it until recently,' DeLuca explained. 8 Sardi's receptionist Lydia DeLuca spent last summer updating the binder that contains every celeb's name and their portrait's location. J.C. Rice To make room for the newcomers, current owner Max Klimavicius chooses which ones to remove and puts them into their storage facility, which contains around 500 portraits. About 230 others have been donated to the New York Public Library. Many of the famous faces are purposefully placed — and celebrity couples such as Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward are nestled side by side. Advertisement 'We have Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster together — they're dating,' Felidi said of Broadway's newest it couple. 'When Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith got divorced, we separated them. We have Richard Burton up there, we have Liz Taylor down here so they don't fight.' When Tony Danza starred in 'Chicago,' he got his portrait done — but only agreed to it under one condition. 'He said, 'Please put me next to Sammy Davis Jr. And never take me away.'' Advertisement 8 Celebrity couples, like Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman, are placed side by side. J.C. Rice Two former employees — who worked at Sardi's before they got famous — also had their images drawn. 'Martin Sheen worked here as a busboy in the 1960s,' Felidi said, pointing to the image of Sheen on the back wall of the first-floor dining room. However, Chevy Chase, who worked there as a doorman in the '70s, still hasn't gotten his hung. Advertisement 8 Sardi's, located at 234 West 44th Street, opened in 1927. J.C. Rice 'Every time he comes here he goes, 'Where's my caricature?' And I tell him, 'Chevy, it's in the office, we're waiting for you to sign it.' And he says, 'Okay, after I finish my meal, I'm gonna sign it.' And he always forgets.'
