Wade says Sky Sports 'didn't show him once'

Fresh off his win, the 42-year-old ditched his usual humble persona to call out Sky Sports' decision to leave him out of their adverts while covering the tournament.
Speaking to the media, he said: 'I probably played some of the better darts out of all dart players.
'And the whole Sky build-up for tonight didn't show me once. That was quite a proud moment for me, going up there and following it through.
"I probably averaged better consistently than most players in here… but not one advertisement.'

HARD TO WATCH Sky host can't keep straight face at darts ace Gilding's answer to question
Wade, who is currently ranked No.8 in the PDC rankings, says the snub has fired him up to do even better on The Oche.
He said: "It made me a little bit more hungry. It's the kind of thing that makes me unhealthy… not weak, but it's an unfair judgement."
Wade believes that despite being "one of the greatest dart players on the planet" he has been continuously had a lack of recognition throughout his career.
He continued: 'Darts isn't about who's playing great anymore. It's about who the press has got hold of and wants to publicise. That's it. That's all.

"You'll never hear me say this again, but I believe I'm one of the greatest dart players on the planet.
"Nobody else will do what I'm doing right now. If I win this now, no one will be sat here 20 years later doing the same."
James Wade doesn't know who Scottie Scheffler is as he launches into bizarre rant about darts and golf
Wade made a point of calling out darts chiefs the Professional Darts Corporation after another victory earlier in the tournament.
He joked the PDC would "change the qualifications" to play in the Premier League even if he ranks in the top four due to the body and Sky Sports thinking he's too "awkward".
The darts veteran also went on a rant and said he "didn't care" about comparisons to golfer Scottie Scheffler.
Wade will meet Jonny Clayton in Saturday's semi-final after a comfortable 16-7 victory over Stephen Bunting.

‘Clubs won't expect it' – Luke Littler gives his prediction for Man Utd's season
United are keen for the recently-crowned World Matchplay champion to visit Old Trafford to show off his latest trophy success. RED DEVILS REVIVAL 'Clubs won't expect it' – Luke Littler gives his prediction for Man Utd's season LUKE LITTLER is 'excited' about Manchester United's prospects this year – and reckons 'most clubs' will be surprised by their revival under boss Ruben Amorim. United embarrassingly finished 15th in last season's Premier League, losing 18 league matches as morale hit rock bottom. It was their worst campaign since they were relegated from the top flight in 1974 and Portuguese chief Amorim, 40, is under pressure to deliver this term. It has not been easy being a fan of the club and Littler, one of their most high-profile supporters, had to put up with a lot of abuse, especially on social media, from those from rival teams. Yet performances in the recent Summer Series in the US have given him cause for great optimism. Advertisement READ MORE ON MAN UTD DONNA-RUMOUR Watch Ruben Amorim's reaction when asked if Man Utd are signing Donnarumma And the United hierarchy have backed their man, splashing the cash this summer by signing Matheus Cunha (£62.5million), Diego Leon (£7million), Bryan Mbeumo (£65million) and Benjamin Sesko (£74million). Striker Sesko, 22, has arrived from RB Leipzig and is an exciting young talent who could take the Prem by storm and perhaps solve their scoring issues. Littler, 18, said: 'I'm very excited. I think we are underdogs. 'Obviously from last season, I don't think anything worse can happen – unless we finish 16th. Advertisement 'But yeah, I think it is going to be a very interesting season. Most clubs won't expect it but I'm expecting top five.' It is going to be a very interesting season. Most clubs won't expect it but I'm expecting top five. Luke Littler on Manchester United's new Premier League campaign Following his latest triumph, secured at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, club insiders would welcome him doing the same again with this pot of silverware. Though Littler was not even born when United completed the historic Treble in 1999, they see the similarities with his latest achievement. 6 Luke Littler showed off the Sid Waddell Trophy at Old Trafford in January 2025 Credit: Getty Advertisement 6 Ruben Amorim will be determined to avoid a repeat of last year's terrible Premier League campaign Credit: Getty No official conversation has been had yet between the two parties but Littler has close links to the management. SunSport understands they are open to talks and say he is always welcome given his love and loyalty towards United. On his first VIP visit in January 2024, he met up with legendary boss Alex Ferguson and posed for photos. Dick and Angel Strawbridge fans 'can't stop crying' after emotional post
Escape to the Chateau stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge took to social media to say 'thank you' for the 'magical memories' as fans reacted to the news Dick and Angel Strawbridge have entertained us on screen for over a decade and now the couple, along with their children, are sharing more magical memories. The much-loved duo took to Instagram today (10 August) to share a series of pictures from their amazing holiday in Australia. In the snaps, the family can be seen posing together in sweet pictures as well as enjoying the wildlife that Australia has to offer, with kangaroos and snakes joining them in the photos. Posting on The Strawbridge Family account, they captioned it: 'Thank you Australia for the magical memories. More to come on our adventures.. but we had to share some of our favourite pictures. 'We have hugged, laughed and swapped stories with so many.. it's really been truly amazing. Thank you for the love. Until the next time!' It comes after BBC Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall shares heartbreak over being sacked and losing job. Fans flocked to the comments section, with many being in complete shock at how much their children, Arthur and Dorothy, have grown since viewers last saw them on Escape to the Chateau. One fan expressed: 'One, I just want to cry. Looking at Dorothy and Arthur and how they have grown. I've watched your beautiful family from the beginning of the Chateau show (which I miss). They are beautiful. Dorothy is gorgeous and Arthur is exceedingly handsome.' Another social media user commented: 'I cannot believe how much Dorothy and Arthur have grown. I remember how little they were. I watched your TV program from the very beginning.' Somebody else agreed: 'Surreal to see how grown up the kids are considering we're still seeing reruns of the Chateau when Arthur was 9! So glad you've enjoyed our beautiful country.' While a fourth added: 'Cannot believe how much the kids have grown! Hope you all had a wonderful time.' Escape to the Chateau followed the family as they bought and renovated the 19 th century Château de la Motte-Husson, in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France. The show began airing on Channel 4 in 2016 aired a whopping 50 episodes across nine seasons before it ended in December 2022. Revealing why they decided to end the show, the couple told HELLO! In 2023: 'It was two years ago that we decided to end the Escape to the Chateau series. 'We made the decision because the kids are growing older, and all the parallel activity was not sustainable at this level. We are doers and we are never going to stop completely, but we're also protecting them. 'Arthur is starting senior school and the pressure on our little ones is phenomenal. When he goes there, people may have heard that his parents have done stuff on television. Angel added: 'Up until this year, we were not on French television at our request because while we are the British family that bought the Chateau in the village, we are very much completely normal.'

Charles-Barclay wins emotional first T100 title on home soil
Lucy Charles-Barclay claimed her first T100 win in style on home turf as she banished last year's London demons. The Hertfordshire native had to drop out of the 2024 event in the capital on the running leg but this year she surged into the lead at the same stage and enjoyed a victory lap. Charles-Barclay had previously finished on the T100 podium three times but finally made the step up to the top as she headed a British one-two ahead of Kate Waugh. 'I still can't quite believe it, especially after last year, having such a bad year and not finishing,' the 31-year-old said. 'I have completely turned it around and to win here in front of all my friends and family is amazing. 'I think that is maybe the most emotional I have ever been on the finish line, just knowing that all those people that I care about so much got to see me win." Having set the pace on the 2km swim, Charles-Barclay emerged with a two-second lead over Learmonth, with Waugh and Taylor Knibb within touching distance. Learmonth moved into an early advantage on the bike but no-one was able to establish a convincing lead with all four taking to the front across the 80km, eight-lap bike section. Charles-Barclay did give herself a narrow lead heading into the final discipline, with Knibb and Learmonth 16 and 18 seconds behind, respectively. A post shared by T100 Triathlon World Tour (@t100triathlon) Waugh was 11 seconds further back, but Charles-Barclay was soon reeled in with Paris Olympian Waugh moving into an 18-second advantage. Knibb was unable to hold the pace as she dropped back but with Learmonth also fading, she was assured of a podium position. Charles-Barclay refused to allow Waugh to extend her gap, and as they headed onto the fifth and final lap of the 18km run, the leader began to falter. Eventually, Charles-Barclay was able to overtake, and with Waugh unable to go with her, she was able to savour a maiden victory. She added: 'I really feel like this year I am getting back to my old self. I have just been really consistent all year in my training, and I feel like we are finally starting to see this in racing. 'Coming into this race, I knew I was in really good shape. I had an amazing training camp leading into this, and I have been away with my family, who have supported me 100 per cent and helped me to get into my best shape for this race. 'I knew I was in really good shape, I just had to play it down because last year was so bad. Just to be able to pull it all together and have a solid day all around feels amazing and getting the win makes me so happy.'
