Randy Orton Got Pushback From Some In WWE About Joe Hendry Being His WrestleMania 41 Opponent
Randy Orton goes in-depth on his match against Joe Hendry at WWE WrestleMania 41.
SmackDown Superstar Randy Orton recently sat down with Carl Lamarre of Billboard. When asked about his WrestleMania 41 match against Joe Hendry coming together following Kevin Owens' injury, Orton said he was the one pushing for the match with the TNA Champion and had to convince a few people in WWE about it who were initially unsure.

'There was a lot up in the air just a couple of things prior to Mania,' Randy Orton said. 'Owens had the neck thing, and it was starting to bug him. So once they took a closer look at that, the doctors said he was a no-go. This one was important to me because it was my 20th, and I'm closer to the end of my career than the beginning.
'Getting these Manias in, and leaving as much of a legacy behind [as possible], is important. It kind of came down to, 'OK. We need to get Orton an opponent. Who's it gonna be?' And there was a very short list of guys on our own roster, but we had some new guys coming in — and it was one of those things where I needed to win.
'But considering we knew where I was going to be going, thinking about Backlash, we needed me to look good coming out of Mania. It couldn't be one of our new guys, because when we debut a new talent into the show, [we couldn't] have him start with a loss.
'So we put our heads together, and it was actually my idea [for it to be] Joe Hendry. I kept pushing for it, and a couple people were unsure, but I was able to talk everybody into it. I'm really glad that they went with him. It was perfect, It was different from anything else on the card. It was a legitimate surprise, and we were able to keep it a surprise for the most part.

'We got that really cool, 'Holy sh*t' moment when his music hit, and it was great. He was great. It was actually a stress-free fun Mania for me, because I didn't have this crazy 30 minutes balls-to-the-walls match with all this high-risk sh*t. I had this cool little segment with Joe, and we didn't have to do much to have fun out there. So I was able to enjoy the week and just soak it all up.'

Linkin Park Returns To No. 1 In America With Its First Smash
Linkin Park's 'In the End' returns to No. 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, marking ... More its eighth nonconsecutive week at the top. TOKYO - JULY 07: Chester Bennington of Linkin Park performs on stage at the Tokyo leg of the Live Earth series of concerts, at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on July 7, 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. Launched by former US Vice President Al Gore to combat Global Warming, the concert is one of a series taking place over a 24-hour period on July 7 across seven continents. (Photo by) Just a few weeks ago, Linkin Park re-released its album From Zero, turning it into a deluxe edition with several new tunes. The following week, that set bolted up a number of Billboard charts, but it didn't take long for its popularity to dwindle once more. A handful of tracks taken from the expanded set are still present on tallies in the United States, even as the full-length all but disappears. Even with new music now available, some of the hard rock group's earliest smashes are proving to be unbeatable — and the one that started it all for the outfit reigns supreme once more. "In the End" bolts from No. 5 to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart in America this week, officially becoming the most-streamed hard rock track in the nation once again. With another stint at No. 1 to its credit, "In the End" has now led the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart for eight nonconsecutive weeks. It first reached the peak position in October of last year, having originally arrived in June 2020. Both "In the End" and "Numb" landed on the ranking at the same time, and the two have now spent just over five years on this chart. "In the End" has spent more time at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally than the group's other two champions combined. "The Emptiness Machine" – the lead single taken from 2024's From Zero – managed five frames leading the charge, while "Lost" earned the band its first leader in February 2023, holding for just one frame. "In the End" is becoming hugely successful again across several of Billboard's genre-specific rosters. In addition to jumping to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, the track also reenters the Alternative Streaming Songs list at No. 24, after what must be a noticeable uptick in plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, iHeartRadio, and many others. The track also manages to climb on both of Billboard's worldwide lists, lifting just a few spots on the two rosters. Five tunes by Linkin Park appear on at least one Billboard chart apiece this week. "Up From the Bottom," one of the major focuses from the From Zero deluxe edition, finds a home on half a dozen tallies. While it continues to rule a trio of airplay lists, it is largely falling when it comes to other forms of consumption.

Mariah May Breaks Silence On Shocking WWE Debut
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. "The Glamour" Mariah May made her official WWE debut. She did so with a surprise appearance on the June 3, 2025, episode of NXT. This marked her first appearance for a major promotion since her contract with All Elite Wrestling expired at the beginning of June. May's last high-profile match in AEW was at the Revolution pay-per-view in March 2025. There, Toni Storm defeated her in a memorable "Hollywood Ending" fight to win back the AEW Women's World Championship. Following that, May had been active on social media, indicating she was on vacation. This now appears to have been a clever misdirection before her NXT arrival. She has reportedly signed a multi-year WWE contract. Previous reports suggested WWE was very keen to bring her in and that the plan for some time was for her to start in NXT. Aug. 25, 2024 – Mariah May holds the AEW Women's World Championship high after defeating Toni Storm at AEW All In London 2024. Aug. 25, 2024 – Mariah May holds the AEW Women's World Championship high after defeating Toni Storm at AEW All In London 2024. Lee South/AEW During her unannounced NXT debut segment on June 3rd, it was noteworthy that WWE announcers never mentioned May by name. This has led to speculation about whether WWE intends to repackage her or assign her a new ring name, a common practice for new signees, despite "Mariah May" being her established and believed ring name. Following her appearance, May also spoke in a digital exclusive released by WWE, where she stated, according to those who viewed it, "She is now home." This is a major get for WWE as she is extremely talented and hasn't even reached her peak. She has wanted to go to WWE for some time now, but the company wasn't interested in her. However, that all changed thanks to her tenure in AEW. She joined AEW in late 2023, initially as the protégée of "Timeless" Toni Storm. Their storyline evolved into a heated rivalry after May won the 2024 Women's Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and defeated Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship at All In 2024 at Wembley Stadium. It will be interesting to see whether WWE gets her on the Great American Bash card next month in Atlanta, which will go head-to-head with AEW All In: Texas. So, is the two-time WWE champion planning his exit from the professional wrestling organization? Here's everything you need to know regarding the ongoing rumors regarding Miz's proposed departure from WWE. Is the Miz, aka Michael Mizanin, leaving WWE? At the time of writing, neither the Miz nor WWE has issued any official statement regarding the 44-year-old wrestler leaving the company. Advertisement Theories regarding his exit began to make waves on the internet after the former IC Champion unfollowed WWE from his X (formerly Twitter) account. Moreover, he went as far as to delete every mention of the promotion from the bio of his X handle. Nevertheless, Fightful's seasoned wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp has come out to rebuke all claims of the Miz leaving the WWE. While replying to an X post that highlighted Michael Mizanin's peculiar social media activities, Sapp noted, 'A nothing story.' Another element in the story that has fans concerned is Mizanin's current contract with WWE. The wrestler/actor reportedly signed his latest extension with the company in 2019. While the exact date of expiry of his contract remains under wraps, the deal will not conclude until the end of 2025, at the very least, as per Wrestling Notícias.
