Linkin Park Returns To No. 1 In America With Its First Smash

Just a few weeks ago, Linkin Park re-released its album From Zero, turning it into a deluxe edition with several new tunes. The following week, that set bolted up a number of Billboard charts, but it didn't take long for its popularity to dwindle once more.
A handful of tracks taken from the expanded set are still present on tallies in the United States, even as the full-length all but disappears. Even with new music now available, some of the hard rock group's earliest smashes are proving to be unbeatable — and the one that started it all for the outfit reigns supreme once more.
"In the End" bolts from No. 5 to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart in America this week, officially becoming the most-streamed hard rock track in the nation once again. With another stint at No. 1 to its credit, "In the End" has now led the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart for eight nonconsecutive weeks. It first reached the peak position in October of last year, having originally arrived in June 2020.
Both "In the End" and "Numb" landed on the ranking at the same time, and the two have now spent just over five years on this chart.
"In the End" has spent more time at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally than the group's other two champions combined. "The Emptiness Machine" – the lead single taken from 2024's From Zero – managed five frames leading the charge, while "Lost" earned the band its first leader in February 2023, holding for just one frame.
"In the End" is becoming hugely successful again across several of Billboard's genre-specific rosters. In addition to jumping to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, the track also reenters the Alternative Streaming Songs list at No. 24, after what must be a noticeable uptick in plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, iHeartRadio, and many others. The track also manages to climb on both of Billboard's worldwide lists, lifting just a few spots on the two rosters.
Five tunes by Linkin Park appear on at least one Billboard chart apiece this week. "Up From the Bottom," one of the major focuses from the From Zero deluxe edition, finds a home on half a dozen tallies. While it continues to rule a trio of airplay lists, it is largely falling when it comes to other forms of consumption.

Listen: Mariah Carey sings about her type in 'Type Dangerous'
June 6 (UPI) -- Mariah Carey released her first song of 2025 on Friday. The music icon, 56, dropped the single "Type Dangerous" and its official lyric video. "Said we'd be together, but you didn't stay forever," she sings. "Now I guess it's just whatever till the 12th of never. I've never been afraid of love. That's why I like 'em dangerous." The video shows the singer driving her car with wind in her hair. The song is set to appear on an upcoming album. "Type Dangerous" follows the release of the deluxe anniversary edition of The Emancipation of Mimi, which dropped May 30. The new version has 40 songs -- twice the number of tracks that appeared on the 2005 original. "So happy to celebrate this milestone anniversary with you all for an album that meant so much to me then, and means even more now," Carey said on Instagram. Barry Manilow heartbroken by Billy Joel's health crisis
Barry Manilow's heart "broke" when he heard about Billy Joel's health crisis. The veteran musician was forced to cancel all of his tour dates for the rest of the year after he was diagnosed with a rare brain condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is caused by a build-up of fluid in the brain, and now Manilow has admitted he feels terrible about seeing the Piano Man go through such a tough time. He told Billboard: "Oh, it's so horrible, so horrible. It just broke my heart when I heard about Billy Joel. I'm such a fan of his work. I really hope he's able to get back to it." Manilow went on to admit there aren't many of his contemporaries still performing. He said: "It's like: 'What? Am I the only one left?' It's Billy Joel, and Elton [John] is not well and Rod [Stewart] and Neil [Diamond]. Diana Ross is still in great shape, I think. "There must be only a handful of people in my world that are still there. "I'm still healthy. I'm strong and I've still got my voice and my energy. The night I can't hit the F natural on Even Now, that's the night I throw in the towel. But I can still do it." Joel recently axed all of his tour dates - including 17 dates in North America and England - but reports suggest he has no plans to retire despite the diagnosis. Announcing the news on social media, a statement from Joel's team read: "Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance. "Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritising his health. "He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage." Billy added his own message to fans, saying: "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding."
