J&K: Sufficient security in place for Kheer Bhawani festival

Hans India6 days ago

Srinagar: Adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the upcoming Mela Kheer Bhawani in J&K's Ganderbal district, an official said on Saturday.
The annual Mela of Mata Kheer Bhawani, being celebrated on June 3, is the holiest local festival for the Kashmir Pandit community.
The spring shrine in Tullamulla town of Ganderbal district, 25 km from Srinagar city, is dedicated to the deity Ragnya Devi, the reincarnation of goddess Durga.
Local Kashmiri Pandits believe that the colour of the water at the goddess's spring in Tullamulla foretells the coming events in J&K and the rest of the country. The pink or milky colour of the spring water is believed to be suspicious, while the dark black colour spells bad days ahead.
Elders in Tullamulla town say that in 1947, when the tribals invaded Kashmir, the water at the deity's spring had turned black.
V.K. Birdi, IGP (Kashmir), visited the temple shrine on Saturday to take stock of the security arrangements for hundreds of Kashmiri Pandit devotees who come to the shrine from different parts of the country.
The IGP told reporters at the shrine that comprehensive preparations have been made to ensure a safe and smooth event for devotees. He said that a large number of pilgrims are expected to attend the festival.
'Extensive arrangements have been made to ensure that the devotees do not face any inconvenience and their security remains a top priority. Robust deployment and logistical support are in place to manage the crowd efficiently,' he said.
In response to concerns arising from the recent Pahalgam attack, the IGP emphasised that the security setup for such events is always meticulously reviewed and reinforced.
He reassured that measures adopted during last year's mela, which saw an incident-free gathering, would be mirrored and further strengthened this year.
He further added that similar vigilance is being implemented for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, with routine threat assessments and area sanitisation underway.
'We remain committed to the safety of every pilgrim', the IGP added.

He also praised the border residents for bravely facing indiscriminate cross-border shelling by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, and announced an additional relief of Rs 2 lakh for the families whose houses were completely damaged and Rs 1 lakh for those whose houses were partially damaged. "I will not allow the Pahalgam terror attack to stop development in J-K. The dreams of the youth will be fulfilled and any obstacle has to face Modi first," the prime minister said while addressing a public rally after flagging off the first train service to the Kashmir Valley here. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mini House for 60 sqm for Seniors with Toilet and Bath (Click Here) Pre Fabricated Homes | Search Ads Search Now Undo The terrorist attack at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on April 22 killed 25 tourists and a local pony rider, bringing tourism to a standstill in the Valley. "Today, people in J-K are looking at new dreams, and fulfilling them as well. The youth are happy with the construction of shopping malls, opening of cinema halls. They want J-K to become a prominent shooting destination for films. They also want the region to become a sporting hub," the prime minister said. Live Events Modi also lauded the heavy turnout at the famous Kheer Bhawani Mela , a major festival of Kashmiri Pandits, and noted that the annual Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3. The Eid festivities are in the air and "I promise that development will not be affected by the Pahalgam incident", he said. Praising the people of J-K for standing together against Pakistan's conspiracy in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, Modi said their stand against the attack sent a strong message to people with terror mindset across the globe that they have made up their mind to give a befitting reply to terrorism. "The decades-long terrorism burnt down schools in Kashmir and ruined the future of two generations. Not only schools, they burnt hospitals and even contesting an election became a challenge for the locals," Modi said. Stating that people tolerated terrorism and the devastation caused by it for decades, the prime minister said, "People had stopped dreaming and thought that terrorism was their future. It was imperative to pull J-K out of the menace of terrorism, which we have done successfully." Referring to the loss of lives and heavy damage caused by Pakistan shelling in the border districts of J-K between May 6 and May 10, Modi said Pakistan Army's action showed its frustration as it targeted civilian areas in Jammu, Poonch and other districts. "The whole world witnessed how Pakistan destroyed homes, schools, temples, mosques and gurdwaras. The people of the country also saw the bravery of the border residents who held their ground," Modi said, adding that every citizen of the country stood behind the victims' families. "The next of kin of those who lost their lives were recently handed over jobs on compassionate grounds. We share the pain of over 2,000 families whose houses suffered damages and they will be provided adequate relief for repair work," Modi said. Stating that the Centre has decided to further enhance the relief package for the shelling victims, he said, "The owners of completely damaged houses will be provided additional Rs 2 lakh and partially damaged houses Rs 1 lakh." The prime minister also said that his government worked tirelessly for the welfare of the border residents over the past several years, constructing more than 10,000 underground bunkers in the border villages, which helped people save their lives during Pakistani shelling. Two border battalions were raised, providing employment to the border residents, while the process of setting up two women battalions is almost complete, Modi said.

ADGP rank officer suspended, first in Karnataka Police history

Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore team became the IPL champion this time, and 11 people died in the stampede that occurred near Chinnaswamy Stadium during this victory parade. Considering this case seriously, the state government has assigned the investigation of the case to the CID. In addition, the police officers themselves have been punished in connection with the incident. In particular, Bengaluru City Commissioner B Dayanand has been suspended, and this is the first time in the history of the police of the state of Karnataka that an ADGP rank officer has been suspended. Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayanand was the Director General of Karnataka Police, i.e. an ADGP rank officer. In this context, B Dayanand was on the verge of becoming DG and IGP. However, the state government has suspended Dayanand in this stampede case. This is the first time in the history of Karnataka State Police that an officer who was on the doorstep of the DG and IGP has been suspended. In this stampede that killed 11 RCB fans, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayanand and other police officers have also been suspended. Additional Commissioner of Police Vikash Kumar Vikash, DCP of Bengaluru Central Division HT Shekhar, ACP Balakrishna and Inspector Girish AK of Cubbon Park Police Station have also been suspended by the state government. There are no examples in the history of Karnataka of suspending an ADGP-level officer. However, now the Siddaramaiah Siddaramaiah government has suspended an ADGP-level officer for the first time. Opposition Leader R Ashok has reacted to the suspension of police officers, tweeting that the people of the state are demanding justice from CM Siddaramaiah. Not a sheep for sacrifice. Through this, he has expressed his objection to the suspension of police officers. Ashok has also indirectly demanded that the ministers concerned be punished. BJP MLA Suresh Kumar has reacted to the suspension of police officers, saying that suspension is a boon for efficient officers. This is a guarantee. Someone gets punished for someone's mistake. Andher Nagar's Chaupat Raja comes to mind. The administration, which rejected the advice of police officers and sacrificed innocent people to get crazy publicity, is now sacrificing efficient officers to make amends, a clear example of bankruptcy. He said that this act of the government will definitely lead to a decline in the morale of the officers. As soon as Dayanand was suspended in the stampede case, discussions started on who would be the next Bengaluru Police Commissioner. Four main names were doing the rounds. Umesh Kumar, Arun Chakravarthy, Seemanth Kumar Singh and R. Hitendra were in the race for the post of Bengaluru City Police Commissioner. But Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar held important talks on who among them should be made the Commissioner, and finally Seemanth Kumar Singh was finalized, and Bihar-born Seemanth Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner and an order has been issued. Former IPS and Commissioner of Police, Bhaskar Rao stated, Mr Siddaramiah has gone into Panic mode. The suspension of Bengaluru City Police Commissioner is the darkest day in the History of Karnataka Police. The prize for telling the Truth and he and his Team slogged the whole night to keep Bengaluru Safe. Everyone in Karnataka knows that it is the Uncontrollable Deputy Chief Minister who orchestrated the Death March is the main Culprit. No Chief Minister has become as Helpless, Cowardly, Nervous and Panicky. The Government has Blood on its Hands and Now has lost its Mind too. The government is now in disaster.

Six Nepalese flyers held for using fake Gulf job permits

Mumbai: Six Nepali nationals allegedly attempting to travel to Qatar and the UAE using counterfeit foreign employment permits (FEP), supposedly issued by Nepal Embassy in New Delhi, were held at the Mumbai International Airport on Wednesday. Between May 26 and June 4, a total of 16 Nepali nationals were detained after paying Rs 2.5 lakh each to various agents in Nepal for overseas employment opportunities. Sahar police reported that in the two most recent cases filed on Wednesday, the agents facilitated legal travel arrangements for the six detained individuals to reach Mumbai Airport, unlike previous incidents. Immigration officials on Wednesday intercepted the accused who were head to the Gulf countries for roles such as drivers, packers, stewards and waiters, using fraudulent FEPs. The officials first stopped Arun Pandit, aged 47, who had travelled via Bagdogara Airport in West Bengal on June 3 to Mumbai, before attempting to board a Doha-bound flight on Wednesday. "However, the officials found Pandit's Nepali passport forged and the passport was issued in the name of Niraj Madai. Further inspection the officials found the FEP too was fake," said the Sahar police. Subsequently, authorities arrested five individuals who had travelled to Mumbai Airport through legal channels: Rohan Tamang (20), Roshan Thakur (25), Shamad Rain (27), Sanjay Mukhiya (21), and Madan Tharu (31). Despite their legal entry, their FEPs were discovered to be fraudulent. A police officer explained that following last week's detention of 10 Nepali citizens at Mumbai International airport, who had illegally entered India through Bihar and attempted travel to Doha and UAE using fake permits, Nepali agents altered their strategy to include legal transit. Nevertheless, this new approach proved unsuccessful. "Previously, agents would arrange for job seekers to cross Bihar borders by road, then fly from Patna to Mumbai before attempting travel to Doha or UAE. Investigations revealed that in all instances, the travellers had paid Rs2.5 lakhs to their agent."
