Nushrratt Bharuccha recalls people trolling her for clothes, visiting temples: ‘What kind of Muslim is she'
Bollywood actor Nushrratt Bharuccha opened up about facing criticism on the internet for several reasons, ranging from her sartorial choices to visiting temples despite being a Muslim.
She opened up about her beliefs and reveals she will continue to visit temples and also offer namaz at the same time.
Talking to Shubhankar Mishra, Nushrratt said in an interview, "For me, my faith is real. Unreal things happen, and that's what strengthens my belief. That's why I'm still connected, still strong, and I know I have to follow this path. Wherever you find peace whether it's in a mandir, a gurudwara or a church, you should go there. I even say this openly: I pray namaz. If I get time, I pray five times a day. I even carry my prayer mat while travelling. Wherever I go, I find the same peace and calm. I've always believed there's one God, and different paths to connect with Him. And I want to explore all those paths."
Furthermore, the Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame revealed how her faith has been questioned by people for her appearance.
She also said, 'Whether it's about my clothes or where I go, I've faced comments. When I post my picture, people ask, 'What kind of Muslim is she? Look at her clothes'. How do I handle it? Just like any other criticism. It doesn't change me. It won't stop me from going to a temple or praying namaz. I'll keep doing both. Because that's my faith. When you're clear in your thoughts, spirit, and mind, no one in the world can shake you".
Nushratt was recently seen in Chhorii 2 as Sakshi. The film also featured Soha Ali Khan as Daasi Maa, the new addition to the franchise. It's a sequel to her hit 2021 film.
Directed by Vishal Furia, the film was released on Prime Video on April 11.
Chhorii 2 also stars Gashmeer Mahajani, Saurabh Goyal, Pallavi Ajay, Kuldeep Sareen, and Hardika Sharma.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra and Jack Davis.

Tulu Sahitya Academy honours nagaswara player
Mangaluru: The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy honoured veteran nagaswara player Syed Nasir Yermal with the 'havadi Thammana award. Tulu Academy's chairman Tharanath Gatti Kapikad, said that the 60-year-old Yermal began playing the Nagaswara, the wind instrument, at the age of eight and has been performing in temples and shrines in the regions of Kaup, Mudrangadi, Yermal, Yellur, Shirva, and several parts of the coastal districts for the past 50 years. "He is part of the renowned Vadyada Saiber lineage, known for a two-century tradition of playing nagaswara, and learned the art from his father, Anwar Hussain Yermal. His grandfather and great-grandfather were also nagaswara players. They played nagaswara in temples, daivasthanas, and Garodis across the coast. Considering his dedication to the art, the academy honoured him at Kannangar Brahma Baidarkala Garodi in Padubidri recently," said Kapikad. Kapikad mentioned that the academy has been identifying talented artists, writers, and achievers who are contributing to society. "Tulunadu has demonstrated a long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence amongst diverse religious communities since ancient times. This tradition needs to be preserved by honouring achievers in the region," he said. HASSAN: All writers draw on their experience, whether consciously or not, says Indian author Banu Mushtaq, including the titular tale of attempted self-immolation in her International Booker Prize-winning short story collection. Mushtaq, who won the coveted literature prize as the first author writing in Kannada, said the author's responsibility is to reflect the truth. "You cannot simply write describing a rose," said the 77-year-old, who is also a lawyer and activist. "You cannot say it has got such a fragrance, such petals, such colour. You have to write about the thorns also. It is your responsibility, and you have to do it," Mushtaq added. Her book "Heart Lamp", a collection of 12 powerful short stories, is also her first book translated into English, with the prize shared with her translator Deepa Bhasthi. Critics praised the collection for its dry and gentle humour, and its searing commentary on the patriarchy, caste and religion. Mushtaq has carved an alternative path in life, challenging societal restrictions and perceptions. As a young girl worried about her future, she said she started writing to improve her "chances of marriage." Born into a Muslim family in 1948, she studied in Kannada rather than Urdu, the language of Islamic texts in India and which most Muslim girls learnt. She attended college, and worked as a journalist and also as a high school teacher.
