Neilson will perform at Tauranga's Holy Trinity Church on October 24 as part of the festival .
Tickets go on sale this Friday and Tauranga Arts Festival general manager Sarah Cotter said those keen for a fresh dose of Neilson's musical magic should get in fast.
Cotter said Neilson brought the house down when she previously performed at the Tauranga Arts Festival, and her demand was skyrocketing.
'She will be coming to us fresh from some exciting international tours, and shortly after the release of a new album. How lucky we are that she's added Tauranga to her tour that will also include Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Nelson.'

Tami Neilson's Neon Cowgirl reviewed – her time to shine
Tami Neilson: In the driver's seat. Photo / Alexia King Stone. Graham Reid is an NZ journalist, author, broadcaster and arts educator. His website, Elsewhere, provides features and reports on music, film, travel and other cultural issues. Local hero makes a bid for international recognition. It appears 'world famous in New Zealand' Tami Neilson's time has come in that long-sought American market. She's touring with Willie Nelson following her duet with him on the poignant Beyond the Stars and her Neilson Sings Nelson tribute album. Neon Cowgirl – all Neilson originals or co-writes – punches home right from the orchestrated opener Foolish Heart with the cloud-piercing drama of Roy Orbison, an influence also discernible in One Less Heart. Salvation Mountain is the high-energy, boot-kickin' country-rock offspring of Chuck Berry's Too Much Monkey Business and Neilson's own breathless Big Boss Mama. Borrow My Boots is a rollicking banjo-fuelled country-rocker of female empowerment; Loneliness of Love is a piano ballad and You're Gonna Fall arrives out of the desert on twanging guitar as singer JD McPherson becomes the Lee Hazlewood to her Nancy Sinatra. Love Someone is stirring amped-up swamp-funk, Keep On is Southern Gothic storytelling with a soaring, soulful finale. The moving title track featuring co-writer Neil Finn plays to Neilson's reclaiming of women's contribution in country music and aspirations for herself and other women in the genre. It also refers to Nashville's neon cowboy near Ernest Tubb's record shop, her desire to also be up there in lights, and the cowboy that was above Kean's jean shop on Auckland's Queen Street. The latter appeared on the cover of the 1987 Neon Cowboy album by Al Hunter who – along with the Warratahs – made country popular before the 1990s stadium rock of Garth Brooks and 'hat acts', and Americana singer-songwriters before Taylor Swift. So Neon Cowgirl arrives as part of a personal and cultural continuum, and as Tami Neilson's impressive calling card to that American audience she deserves. This album is available digitally, on CD and on vinyl. Tour dates: Opera House, Wellington, October 3; Aotea Centre, Auckland, October 4; Isaac Theatre Royal, Christchurch, October 11; Theatre Royal, Nelson, October 12; Arts Festival, Tauranga, October 24.

International Circus Extravaganza Debuts In Tauranga, Taranaki And The Hawke's Bay
An international, high-profile circus spectacle will be coming to NZ this year for the first time, taking to the stage in three provincial cities. Cirque Bon Bon, which has been likened to Cirque du Soleil, is set to delight the crowds in Taranaki, Tauranga, and Hawke's Bay thanks to a collaboration between three leading Arts Festivals - Reimagine Festival (Taranaki), Tauranga Arts Festival, and Hawke's Bay Arts Festival. The just-announced NZ visit, in October, will be hot on the heels of sold-out tours in Australia, where this talented circus troupe thrilled multi-generational audiences. Tauranga Arts Festival General Manager Sarah Cotter says there's great excitement wrapped around this festival offering as Cirque Bon Bon is a high-octane international act featuring a fusion of circus, dance and comedy. Plus, it's suitable for all ages. 'Get your tickets now and start getting excited as Cirque Bon Bon will burst on the stage to deliver an extravaganza of mind-bending contortion, sensational dancers, gravity-defying acrobatic stunts and more than a few laughs. Tauranga, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay - and visitors to those areas - should prepare to be wowed,' Sarah enthuses. Cirque Bon Bon has been likened to Cirque du Soleil for good reason. It has been created by former Cirque du Soleil director Ash Jacks and choreographer Julieann Nugent. In the words of Ash: 'We've used every last trick in the book to make this show something you just can't look away from.' The excited Tauranga, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay arts festival organisers say in the past people from the provinces had travelled to the bigger cities to see circus spectacles. Now the magic is coming to their cities. Cirque Bon Bon will be hosted by the 'outrageously funny' Mario, Queen of the Circus. Under his watch, daring skill will blend with striking style in a fast-paced celebration of what's been described as 'a celebration of beauty and bravery with a killer soundtrack and breathtaking visuals'. Cirque Bon Bon will feature first in Taranaki on October 9-12 at TSB Showplace. Tickets are available at: and Eventfinda. This will be followed by the Hawke's Bay on October 17,18 at Toi Toi: Hawke's Bay Arts & Events Centre, with tickets available from or via EventFinda. Four performances will be held in Tauranga from October 23-25. Tickets can be bought via Tauranga Art Festival's site or Eventfinda
