21-day Kanipakam Brahmotsavams from Aug 27
1 2 Tirupati : The annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy temple at Kanipakam in Chittoor district will get underway from Aug 27. The ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesha, where the size of the idol of the presiding deity grows every year, is one of the busiest pilgrim shrines in Chittoor. While Brahmotsavams at all TTD-administered temples, including the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, are celebrated for nine days, Kanipakam Brahmotsavams is celebrated for 21 days every year. Following a review meeting on the arrangements on security, crowd management, and procession related aspects, held in the presence of temple EO Penchala Kishore, Chittoor district collector Sumit Kumar, and SP V N Manikanta Chandol, Puthalapattu MLA M Murali Mohan informed that the grand event will begin on Aug 27 and conclude on Sep 16. Police and district administration, in coordination with temple officials, are planning to set up additional queue lines and parking spaces for vehicles. Chittoor SP Chandol stated that elaborate security arrangements will be made to ensure that the 21-day annual festival is conducted smoothly. Police also announced that liquor shops and bars in the area will be shut down at 8 pm every day during the festival period.

Elaborate arrangements made for Varalakshmi Vratham at Tiruchanur
Tirumala: With the auspicious Varalakshmi Vratam left with just a couple of days to go, the TTD has made elaborate arrangements to ensure that every devotee receives the divine blessings under the Sowbhagyam programme at Tiruchanur temple. Focus is to ensure that devotees have a comfortable darshan of the presiding deity of Sri Padmavati Ammavaru. The temple authorities have made the following arrangements in connection with this fete which is scheduled on Friday. Laying special queue lines, providing Annaprasadam and drinking water facilities, impressive illumination and flower decorations. Special focus will be laid on cleanliness and sanitation Varalakshmi Vratham will be performed from 10 am to 12 noon in the Asthan Mandapam. LED screens have been arranged around the temple for the devotees to watch the Varalakshmi Vratham. In the evening, the processional deity of Goddess Sri Padmavati will be taken out in a procession along the Mada streets encircling the shrine on a golden chariot. Besides, on the auspicious occasion of Varalakshmi Vratham on Friday, the divine materials including Akshatas, Pasupu Darams, Kankanams, Sri Lakshmi Astottara Sata Namavali Book, Kumkuma and bangles will be distributed to the women devotees in all the 51 TTD local temples located in both the Telugu States under Sowbhagyam programme. The officers and staff of the respective temples are supervising the arrangements.

3-day Pavitrotsavams commence at Tirumala
Tirumala: The annual Pavitrotsavams began on a grand religious note in Tirumala on Tuesday. As a part of the three-day fete, on the first day, Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed to the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhudevi. In the Kalyanotsava Mandapam, the utsava deities were offered celestial bath with sacred and aromatic ingredients amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns by the Veda pundits in a befitting manner. On the initial day, Pavitra Pratista will be carried out by the priests as per Agama Vidhi. Both the Tirumala pontiffs, TTD additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, temple chief priests, the temple DyEO Lokanatham, peishkar Ramakrishna and other staff, devotees were also present.
