Horror fans delight as In A Violent Nature sequel confirmed

Independent22-07-2025
The horror film In a Violent Nature, which premiered at Sundance in January 2024, is set to receive a "meaner" sequel in 2026.
The original movie gained a cult fanbase for its unique approach to the slasher genre, telling the story from the perspective of the killer, Johnny.
Despite mixed critical reviews, the Canadian film was noted for its "slow cinema" style, featuring longer takes and no musical score.
Filmmaker Chris Nash will return to write and direct the sequel, with production scheduled to begin in September.
Producers aim for the sequel to make Johnny "bigger, meaner, and his kills... more impressive", continuing to experiment within the genre.

Jordon Hudson smears pageant queen rival with heinous cheating allegation

Jordon Hudson allegedly attempted to smear her Miss Maine rival in a bizarre cold call to a journalist. Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of Bill Belichick, has been at the center of a media storm over the past year with the couple's controversial relationship dominating headlines. And it appears the former cheerleader is far from happy with some of the coverage. Yet, it wasn't the ceaseless stories surrounding her 49-year age gap with the legendary football coach or their car crash CBS interview that left her spitting, but rather the coverage of her Miss Maine pageant. Hudson competed in the beauty pageant in May where she finished second runner-up, which was extensively covered by The Sports Gossip Show in an episode dedicated to Miss Maine. And two months later, the brunette beauty called the podcast's co-host Charlotte Wilder out of the blue at 9pm one Saturday evening, allegedly announcing herself as 'the president of your universe'. She then launched into a slew of complaints over the show's episode dedicated to the Miss Maine pageant, which included a pointed dig at her rival and ultimate winner, Shelby Howell. 'I am assuming she is recording me,' Wilder said of the call on the latest episode of The Sports Gossip Show, which was recently acquired by The Athletic. 'It was unclear to me why she was calling me at first. I tried very hard to be normal. She seemed like, I couldn't tell what the tone was. She would oscillate between friendly but there was clearly an edge to her voice, she kind of wanted to let me have it. She wanted to talk about our Miss Maine episode, our opinions around the pageant.' Wilder said Hudson was rambling in circles, using 'legalese' and 'word salad' in attempt to make her points. 'She wants to know why we said her competing in the Miss Maine pageant would take away opportunities for other people who would need them more - there's a package with beauty treatments, pageant training and of course the title of Miss Maine,' Wilder continued. 'Jordon is more famous than Miss Maine could make anybody. She wanted to know why we said that. She also wanted to know why we said it is her and Bill against the world.' Yet, it was her final question that truly raised eyebrows as she appeared to imply that her fellow competitor and the freshly-crowned Miss Maine Howell shouldn't have been eligible. 'She also wanted to know why we didn't report that the winner of the Miss Maine pageant, a woman named Shelby, wasn't actually from Maine. We did actually report that in the following episode,' Wilder added. Howell was declared the winner of Miss Maine USA, with Mara Carpenter also finishing ahead of Hudson. Howell is a native of San Diego, California - not Maine - but reportedly resides in Bangor, allowing her to compete in the pageant. The Sports Gossip Show reported that on a later episode. Hudson finished second runner-up in the competition after finishing first runner-up in 2024 However, according to the Bangor Daily News, Howell's ties to the state do appear to be tenuous. The beauty queen does reportedly have a Maine driver's license but her first social media post showing her in the Queen City was allegedly published only about 10 weeks before the pageant. Howell did provide the necessary paperwork to be able to compete in the pageant. However, 'state hopping' is a popular practice in the pageant world, which sees contestants compete in states where they believe they have a better chance of winning. Wilder and her co-host Madeline Hill, who went on to have multiple calls with Hudson over the course of a week, repeatedly likened their conversations with the pageant contestant to a 'toxic relationship.' Hudson's second runner-up finish was one place lower than where she finished in 2024 and she and Belichick made a swift exit after she failed to win. She declined any interviews, but was quick to thank those who told her that she looked incredible in the purple floor length gown with a slit, paired with silver heels. The pageant came in the aftermath of Belichick's highly-publicized disaster of an interview with CBS Mornings, when Hudson cut in to block a question about how they met. The legendary New England Patriots coach was asked about how he first met Hudson and looked visibly uncomfortable, before she called out from off-camera to say their relationship was not a talking point. It sparked a merciless explosion of scrutiny over their relationship and its near 50-year age gap. TMZ later reported that Hudson at one point stormed out of the CBS interview - delaying shooting for around 30 minutes. Belichick is preparing for his first season in college football with University of North Carolina Another report said that Hudson actually interrupted the interview so much, CBS felt obliged to include footage of one intervention as it was a genuine reflection of their experience. The legendary NFL coach has endured an embarrassing start to life in college football, with Hudson repeatedly overshadowing him as he prepares to coach UNC. Belichick, an eight-time Super Bowl winner across his iconic NFL career, takes charge of his first college game on September 1 when UNC hosts TCU Horned Frogs in Chapel Hill. Belichick coached the Patriots for 24 seasons, ending his tenure with the team in January 2024.

Superman star Dean Cain is slammed by fellow actor for backing Trump's ICE immigration polices

Dean Cain is criticized by actor John Leguizamo in a scathing post about him joining the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Earlier this week, Superman actor Cain announced that he wanted 'to help save America', and said he'd join ICE 'ASAP' after sharing that he backed Donald Trump 's immigration crackdown - shortly after he revealed the racist slur he was once called after being cast as the superhero. Leguizamo responded to the news by expressing his disapproval with a repost of a meme on X that poked fun at Cain, which included a photo of the Superman star with 'Pronouns: Has/Been' written over his face. SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO Mocking Cain, the social media user had written: 'Dean who?' To which Leguizamo added: 'Nuff said!' On the same day, Colombian Leguizamo also shared another photo of Cain in a separate Instagram post, and wrote: 'How big of a loser do you have to be to volunteer to be an ICE OFFICER?' Leguizamo's long been vocal about advocating for immigrants and frequently shared his political beliefs on social media. Last month, he got into a heated exchange with Bill Maher over a complaint about undocumented immigrants from 's***hole countries'. Leguizamo pushed back against Maher during an episode of the comedian's Club Random podcast, and insisted there's 'plenty of room' in America. Cain said he wanted to support Trump's immigration crackdown and lend aid to recruitment efforts. In a video posted on social media on Wednesday, Cain said: 'I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it. So I joined up.' He also encouraged others to apply for ICE positions and cited a $50,000 signing bonus, student loan repayment, and enhanced retirement benefits for those in law enforcement roles. Cain continued: 'If you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from America's streets. They need your help, we need your help, to protect our homeland for families. 'Join today if it's something that tickles your fancy because we can use you.' Cain went on to say that under President Donald Trump, ICE had arrested 'hundreds of thousands of criminals including terrorists, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers'. While ICE did report arrests in those categories, reports showed that many ICE arrests also included people with no criminal record or minor offenses. Cain's announcement was as Homeland Security pushed to recruit more ICE agents. Last week, Homeland Security's Kristi Noem said in a statement: 'Your country is calling you to serve at ICE… Together, we must defend the homeland.'

Family of Crazy Town singer Shifty Shellshock locked in inheritance battle as they accuse each other of stealing fortune

THE family of late Crazy Town singer Shifty Shellshock are waging a bitter war over his estate that will shock fans across the globe. Loved ones of the rapper, real name Seth Binzer, are battling it out in a Los Angeles court amid a series of jaw-dropping claims. 5 5 5 London-based model Jasmine Lennard - who previously dated Simon Cowell - had a son Phoenix with the tragic song-writer after they started dating in 2010. The father-of-three band frontman passed away at his home at the age of 49 in 2024 - after a lengthy battle with drug and alcohol addiction that spanned four decades. A year on, and Jasmine is at loggerheads with Tracy Shelor, 42, who had a son Gage with the singer, and who was appointed executor of his estate. In sensational legal documents seen by The Sun, Jasmine, 40, claims in a declaration that the LA make-up artist is 'not suitable' for the role due to her 'long-standing pattern of criminal activity' and 'emotional instability'. Jasmine blasted Tracy in a sworn statement which alleges she has an arrest for prostitution. The sultry brunette mum of two Jasmine, a former Big Brother star, goes on to claim that since objecting to Tracy Shelor's appointment she has received, 'multiple written threats from Ms Shelor including to 'ruin my life'.' The beauty's official document objecting to her executor role states: 'Ms Shelor was the only person in the decedent's extended family with whom he had no relationship at the time of his death. "She publicly exploited him during his battle with addiction, sold stories about him to the press, and instigated legacy actions that further deteriorated his mental health. 'To now seek control of his estate after profiting off his struggles and perpetuating them for years is morally repugnant and legally unsupportable.' The legal document claims the remaining estranged family members of troubled Seth are seeking a restraining order against Ms Shelor, and they claim she was banned from his private funeral and burial at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. But Tracy, who dated the rocker between 2004 and 2008 during his well-documented drug addiction issues, has hit back at Jasmine and claimed to The Sun that documents submitted to the court had not been verified. Jasmine's publicly available statement says Ms Shelor has a 'substantial history of legal issues that include criminal charges, arrests and financial instability'. It states her convictions include a 2010 conviction for driving with a suspended license and 2015 arrest in Nevada for 'solicitation of prostitution' - but she was never convicted. A chronological timeline of Ms Shelor's arrests, convictions and financial liabilities include 17 incidents since 2001, according to the online declaration. As well as receiving threats, Jasmine claims Ms Shelor has also 'obstructed the legal and necessary process of obtaining US citizenship and a passport for Phoenix by interfering with a DNA testing process requested by the US Embassy'. Tracy refused permission for a DNA sample to be taken from Gage to help Jasmine's son Phenix have his US citizenship rubber-stamped. Jasmine says, 'her actions have put my son's legal identity and immigration process at serious risk'. The next hearing in the increasingly bitter case is due next month. The Sun understands that Seth's family have accused each other of stealing his fortune and cutting off payments to his dependents since his death. Royalties from his global hits means he receives up to £5,000 a month - which has gone to support his three kids. In 2022, Tracy told The Sun that Seth then owed her more than $64,000 in child support. She said he refused to pay any medical costs for his diabetic son with her - while enjoying vacations to Hawaii. She branded the star a 'deadbeat Dad'. After contacting Tracy yesterday, she told The Sun of Jamine's sworn court statements: 'Substantively, several assertions are inaccurate, and many are decades old and irrelevant.' And she said of her rival: 'She filed these after I declined her personal demand for DNA for her son's US passport - a demand no authority has made of me - and stated she would share them with the press." Tracy claimed that Jasmine's 'actions in this matter have already been reported to the proper authorities.' Tracy told how she is a formally approved foster parent with completed background checks and home evaluations, with 'a strong professional record and community involvement, without any history to support her claims.' And Tracy added she has 'reported the full timeline and supporting evidence to the FBI, the US Department of State, and the UK Embassy'. Seth's family gave thanks for his 'heart of gold' and remembered his 'beautiful soul' in a collective display of unity after his death in a statement to The Sun - before relations turned sour. Crazy Town once said that having 'been to hell and back' shaped them - and they faced more than their fair share of struggles. Seth's death is one of many tragedies to strike the band, who rose to fame in 2000 with their single Butterfly and sold 1.5million of their debut album The Gift Of Game. Crazy Town initially split in 2003 after eight years together amid claims of wild drug-taking and alcohol abuse that led Seth to enter rehab on multiple occasions. The singer had a difficult upbringing. He regularly raided his graphic artist dad's drug stash during his childhood and learned to roll a joint at the age of five. He previously told Rolling Stone: 'My dad was the artsy-fartsy guy who did lots of cocaine and had weed all over the house.' In Seth's teens he sold weed and harder substances and by 18 was jailed for 90 days after robbing another drug dealer at gunpoint. He recalled the band going on coke and speed-fueled marathons while writing songs before being ordered into rehab in 1997. A year later, Seth was in Alcoholics Anonymous and ahead of gigs, the band would regularly recite the AA prayer 'God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can.' By 2000, he fell off the wagon and was arrested for throwing a chair out of a window while he was drunk. In a 2001 interview, Seth admitted he had spent three months in prison for attempted burglary and that he was regularly selling and using recreational drugs. Throughout the 2000s, Seth battled addiction and sought help on the reality TV shows Celebrity Rehab 1 and 2 and Sober House 1 and 2. His battle with drugs contributed to his split from his first wife Melissa Clark, who he tied the knot with in 2002 and divorced nine years later, citing irreconcilable differences. It's unclear when Seth and Melissa, who shared son Halo, parted ways but in 2008, he dated Tracy Selor, who he had another boy with, Gage. Jasmine Lennard had sole custody of his third son Phoenix, who had a strong relationship with his Dad until his death. 5 5
