Isle of Man's fast craft back to full speed after engine issue

Sailings of the Manx fast craft ferry are back to normal after an issue with one of its engines caused an increase to journey times.Manannan restarted its routes to Liverpool, Belfast, and Dublin for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company last week.However a problem was detected with the control systems of one of its four main engines on Saturday, leading to it being shut down on safety grounds.The firm said the vessel had been operating "safely" on three engines but the journey times were "slightly slower than usual".
Passengers had faced delays of about an hour while the vessel was operating on a reduced number of engine.A spokesman for the Steam Packet confirmed the Manannan had now returned to using all four of its engines.

A statement posted on the airport's social media reads: "Following an aircraft incident, the runway is temporarily closed. "We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. "We will keep passengers already at the airport informed and those due to travel later today are advised to check the status of their flight before coming to the airport. "We will continue to issues updates when we can." Several dozen flights were due to leave and arrive between now and 6pm. It has not been reported how many people were aboard the plane which diverted, although King Airs usually carry at least two pilots. More to follow... Locals and tourists were evacuated from hotels and homes as the flames were fanned towards a beach bar in Tarifa and nearby campsites. The fires were also fast approaching the N-340 highway and the Estrecho Natural Park. A team of up to 17 aircraft were deployed to battle the blazes since Sunday. Firefighters were still working to extinguish the fires on Wednesday. Over in southern France, the wildfires proves fatal as one person died in the village of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse. Firefighters battled to control the massive flames that had already swept through an area bigger than Paris. At least 25 houses have burned down with dozens of roads in the area being closed down. The Boston Bar, an Irish-American establishment, is offering punters the chance to win a three-night-stay in Boston worth £7000 to mark the opening of its new basement space, Downtown. The trip includes return flights from Edinburgh, a four-star hotel, curated experiences and a food and drink allowance for the winner and a plus one. Owner Edward Fox said: 'We wanted Downtown to feel like a little slice of my wife's homeland, Donegal, in the heart of Edinburgh, but with a nod to Boston's gritty charm. 'It's a space that's warm, welcoming and full of life – somewhere you can pop in for a quiet drink or make a night of it. The Boston trip giveaway felt like the perfect way to celebrate this next chapter for the bar.' The interiors of the new space blend dark wood, exposed sandstone walls and antiques sourced from Ireland, the USA and local auction houses. Downtown shows a range of live Irish sports, including Gaelic football and hurling – a stick-and-ball game played by teams of 15. Live trad music sessions will be hosted in the venue on Mondays and Tuesdays from September 15, with Irish comedy nights set to be introduced from October. The space is available to book for private events for groups of 20-100 people and areas are available to book for group sports viewings and the food menu will be similar to its upstairs counterpart, featuring spice bags and Sunday roasts. Extra entries can be made by booking a table and visiting the Boston Bar before September 28. The winner will be announced on September 30 and must be able to travel between October 1 until December 31 2025.
